SURPRISES
I have owned 3 Avalanche trucks Nice looking with a great ride a real beautiful truck, but constantly replacing TPMS systems, adjustible back and seat pressure is gone, 04 had a flabby steering wheel, the stabili trac went out on 2 of them and now I have an 07 LTZ with oil leak and had everything replaced seals gaskets et all and it still leaks 50c size drops and I can smell it all the time (no smoke) My mechanic said it would cost about $1500 to fix the leak and there is no guarantee it would work due to some wear to affected area. I get compliments all the time on the look and features but the above mentioned problems leave me feeling ill. I can't afford a new vehicle at this time but sure would like to say good bye to this one.

Love-Hate Relationship!!
Just got my 07 LTZ its been in the shop 4xs in 6mths!!! Back-end rebuilt 2xs along with misc fixes. Then replaced the air-ride compressor. Back again for axel, bearings, and alternator. NOW it wont start and I'm being told it could be an "electrical issue". I'm so over this chevy! Thank god I have my lexus to rely on! What sucks is as soon as I get back in the truck, I love it! I feel like I'm in an abusive relationship! Do your homework on this truck for sure!! Don't get suckered by looks and comfort - it will let you down time and time again!!

2007 LTZ 4X4
Absolutely love it. Purchased with every option except the power- retractable (BRS) running boards. Used it the first week to haul shelving with 8' particle boards. Interior fit and finish is superb and is really beyond anything Chevy has had to date. Backup camera is a great option. Haven't needed the heated windshield washer yet, but the side mirror defrosters have come in handy. The locking storage wells on the bed sides are a great idea and very pratical. The bed cover is easy to remove and install, suprisingly light and tight fitting. Left the truck out during a steady rain for six hours and no water leaked into the truck bed. Very quiet and smooth on the road.
GM lost a customer
Leased this truck through my company and it is the best truck in the world as long as it does not leave the drive way. This truck squeaks coming from right front wheel on start up to 30 mph, it can be heard from blocks away. Had it to the dealership at least 9x & they could never duplicate the problem even though I have it on video which I'm posting to youtube this week. Love the look and function of the truck, cant beat that. The interior of my LTZ I will put against any of the foreign luxury cars, it comes with everything and GM hit a home run there. My other car is an 08 Denali but for the money that GM wants & there poor customer service I really cant see going back to them. Sorry.
I like mine, but do your research before you buy
I bought my '07 LT trim 6 months ago with 89k on the clock. It was a dealer maintained one owner truck. I've now got just under 100k on it. So far so good I guess?... Mine does "consume oil" like others say, I'm only about a quart low between oil changes. Recent repairs consist of the front passenger side caliper sticking, warping the rotor and busting the brake master cylinder. Costs about $600 for a new master cylinder, calipers, brake pads and rotors for the front of the truck. only one trip to a repair shop so far is acceptable, buying a higher mileage vehicle I came to expect to start replacing components. It rides great, the seats are comfortable, handles like an agile truck, even the stock stereo sounds good. Power is adequate, the 5.3 is a tad sluggish from a stop and on highway passing. I probably feel that way because I had test driven a Yukon Denali and Caddilac Escalade with the 6.2 before ultimately buying the Avalanche. The best benefit of this truck is the midgate, I needed cargo and people space and it's perfect for the job. I can carry my family in the cabin, and carry my equipment in the bed. Overall I'm satisfied, I would call it a "good" truck, however not a "great" truck. I'd recommend it if you need flexibility in carry capability. If you want one, make sure it has service records/history as it seems these will break down if not properly maintained. Lastly, anticipate that you will be making some repairs yourself. Update 9/22/2016 At 104k the 2nd/4th shift band inside the transmission broke. $2000 transmission rebuild. 106k the oil pressure sending unit went out. $30 part and replaced myself. I'm less than pleased that the transmission went out so soon, my '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee's trans went out at 170k! I still like the truck, and I'm going to stick with it for now. If I catch any signs of potential drivetrain failure within the next year I'm going to get out of this truck ASAP.
