The Escalade IQL increased dimensions give it a more spacious cabin. The third row is the biggest beneficiary of the stretched body, as it gains 4.4 inches of legroom over the standard IQ and an inch of additional headroom. Because the wheelbase length is unchanged, however, getting to the third row will be just as challenging. Rear cargo volume with all seats in place increases by just 0.6 cubic feet, but overall space with second and third rows folded grows by 6 cubic feet. Parking in the city will be more difficult with the IQL's larger footprint, but is made easier thanks to standard four-wheel steering and a semi-automated parking feature.

As a lengthened full-size all-electric SUV, the Escalade IQL currently has no direct competitors. The competitive set it shares with its shorter sibling, though, includes the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, Volvo EX90 and Rivian R1S. The Benz, though smaller, rivals the Escalade IQL's level of luxury and offers respectable range, with an EQS SUV 450+ model going 407 miles in our real-world Edmunds EV Range Test. The EX90 has less range, at 310 miles as tested, but brings an element of style and a surprising amount of driving fun to the table. The Rivian might be the most off-road-oriented and has the second-highest max range estimate in the class. However in our testing, an R1S fell short of its 410-mile estimate by 24 miles. The Tesla Model X could also be worth considering since it offers an available third row and up to 329 miles of range, but Tesla's first SUV is showing its age.
