Disappointed - Serviced 5 times in 3 months

Purchased a new BMW X7 in February 2023. Buying experience was very good. The problem is I’ve had in for service 5 times in 3 months. Three times was a faulty seat belt sensor. One time was the drive train locked up and I had to have it towed. Final time is another faulty sensor which is back ordered for a month. I love the car styling and it drives great but having to taken in for service 5 times is ridiculous. I will say the BMW service team is super friendly and helpful. I just wish I didn’t have to get to know them. So far BMW has not offered anything for my time and inconvenience. Probably will be my first and last BMW.

Brand New- Multiple Problems

We purchased a 2023 x7 in November 2022 with 4 miles on it. We’ve actually had the x7 in our possession 3 of the 7 weeks we have owned it. The other 4 weeks it has been in the service department. First, after owning it less than 2 weeks, randomly the car started making an awful noise on acceleration. Found out that a bolt was not secured on the transfer case in assembly. Scary. A week in the shop. Had it back a week and then multiple sensors including a drive train warning and driver assist warning kept coming on. Two and half weeks in the shop and it was allegedly “fixed.” Have had it back 3 days and now the drive train warning is back on and upon accelerating, the RPMs go extremely high but the car doesn’t go anywhere. Extremely scary. Currently awaiting a call from BMW on returning the vehicle. It’s been a week with no call. This has been my 4th brand new BMW (325ci, x5, x 5, x7) and I’ve never had an issue but I will say I’m not sure I want another one at this point.

Bought a 2023 bmw x7 in September. Has multiple issues from day 2. Electrical issues, exit warning malfunction, emergency call assist malfunction, blinder motor needed to be replaced, etc. I finally got a trade assist after 6 months, had to put in several thousand still just to build a 2024 x7. Two days into the 2024, sensors had a problem. Got it back after one day, then the check engine light came on for an actuator for control arm. Now I’m stuck with a loaner for over one month and fighting to get a refund. I have no idea how BMW can continue to do this to customers.

Great Ride BUT !

The X7 is an amazing car and super smooth ride. However after 14 month a computer issue popped up! The turbo blast controlled by the computer does not work. The dealer told me that for 2023 there is not fix but you can stlll drive it. They checked it but if I want to pass some one and need some power forget it. Did get the car up to 80. Waiting for the software update!

Software Issues from Day 1

Day 1 a message popped up that here was an emergency communications system failure, related to the TeleAssist. Message cleared but did not appear again. Day 3, while using Driving Assistant Pro, attempted to change lanes on the highway and it would not let me. Kept giving warnings like there was a car in my blind spot, but there were no other vehicles around. Had to deactivate and manually change lanes. Day 7, driving along a two-lane road at about 50 mph and the car said 'emergency situation detected, car is stopping, please pull over," and there was not a thing around. Was not using any driving assist features. Had to accelerate to keep the car from stopping and steer to side of road. Message cleared. Immediately took it to the dealer and said it was unsafe for the vehicle to be choosing when to stop on its own. Has been in for three days and now dealer says the are waiting to hear back from the tech in Germany. Sigh. Had not even gotten to enjoy my new car for a week. Really disappointed in the car and myself, as I should have switched brands. This is my 7th BMW, all which had no issues, but anything build during COVID seems to be horrific. My 2021 X5 was starting to have software issues to, such as the camera going out when backing up, radio screen going blank, and other things like water coming in around the moonroof. I definitely should have headed the writing on the wall about the decline in BMW quality and switched brands. Seems like the domestics are actually taking over in quality, now. Never had a single issue with my 2020 Corvette C8. Buyer's Remorse.

Pros: Great ride and comfortable. Butter smooth transmission and engine. Plenty of power. Seats are comfortable, plenty of storage and great sound system. BMW app is great CONS: The key fob is horrible, cant use any ring other than those cheap ones that get out of shape and go loose. Screen is very good, layout is hard to get used to and customize, still leartning it. Very happy with the purchase

With 11,000 miles on our 2024 X7 we couldn't be happier. We still have our 1994 325 ci 5 speed convertible, and miss our 1998 740iL, but this vehicle is awesome. My wife rode in a Tesla, and this is as quiet and a smoother ride. One additional flick on the shift control puts the engine/transmission in Sport, but leaves the ride on Comfort for quick highway on ramp or passing. The run-flats had me concerned, but the suspension does a great job of mitigating bumps. The peace of mind on our frequent NY to Florida trips is worth the small downgrade in ride from conventional tires. The touch screen is a bit of a learning curve, but just spend a little time in the driveway with the car running when you first get the vehicle. Navigation including with spoken destinations is excellent. We have Driver Assistance Pro and it is excellent on long drives and even around town. I am old school and refuse to go 10k miles between oil changes, so I got a first change at 4k miles at my expense- less than $200. Even on relatively short trips my wife always takes the X7 instead of the E350 Mercedes- she just feels much safer, enough said. No problems, except when my wife didn't screw the gas cap on tight and we got a "check engine" warning. Tightened the cap and it cleared itself in a few miles.

The X7 is an amazing vehicle. I purchased one with almost every option back in October. The vehicle rides very well in all situations and is quiet as a library inside. Plenty of performance out of the in-line 6. No need to get the V8.. Would buy again.

I was very unhappy with my 2021 Porsche Cayenne that I looked at various SUVs as a replacement. I had an X5 prior, but always thought it was a little small. When the new 2023 X7 came out, I was interested in the newly designed front end. I test drove the X7 and it was very responsive. It had a lot of power and was very fast! The X7 has lots of features and the very spacious! The new iDrive 8 is very intelligent and you can tell the car to open the sunroof or window or turn the AC temperature to a specific temperature. I highly recommend the X7! Update: 6 month later…it’s still the best SUV I’ve ever bought!!

Buyer Beware

We had traded in a Lexus LX570 for the BMW X7 and had a good experience with the dealer when placing the build. We've been overall pleased with the vehicle until a few weeks ago. We were parking the car going about 3 MPH, about 3 feet from the curb, when pressing the brakes again the car accelerated. We pressed the brakes again and the car accelerated even faster. The automatic braking didn't work and we ended up hitting a building. The driver assistant package should've applied the brakes avoiding the collision. Some other owners of the 2023 X7 posted that BMW has a software glitch with the Driver Assistant Package which ends up turning off the system BMW corporate sent an engineer to do an inspection on the vehicle. They didn't find anything and the black box indicated the vehicle was accelerating at the time of the crash. No surprise as this is what we stated from the time of the accident. Following the accident and doing a Google search, we found information on SUA (Sudden Unintended Acceleration). The auto industry seems to have an issue with this but they don't admit to it. We found posting by owners of different BMW models and years that express the same situation. Parking at a slow rate of speed, when the vehicle accelerated when pressing the brake and then accelerating even faster when pressing the brake again, ending up in an accident. We believe this is the case with our vehicle. Some articles indicate the SUA is caused by a computer error sending a message to the vehicle to accelerate when the driver is actually pressing the brakes. Additional articles question whether the black box records the correct information relating to this situation. We're looking to see what our options are, as we're concerned this may happen again and could results in a person being injured or worse.

We waited for this car and we are glad we have it to drive. This car is a dream machine and so smooth plus great mileage. I have owned a Volvo XC90 but I was not content with the new ones. This is our third BMW and it holds 5 people with ease and plenty of room in the second row!

Bought my new 2024 last August. Loved everything about it up until February, (6month mark). All kinds of warning lights started coming on, right when I started it. Local BMW dealer took 5 days to diagnose what they thought might be wrong. Had to talk to the techs in Germany. They figured out I had a defective front left strut. The part however, was on indefinite backorder and it could take until June! This is February 25, keep in mind. They give me loaner to drive, an X5. This week, now mid-April they call, tell me the part came in, they put it in. Then they got the same message on the right side! They honestly don't know how long until it will be done!! This is crazy!! I'm thinking a need a different car!

This SUV is like no other. I test drove the Mercedes GLS, although very nice, it lacked presence and performance. It does have a lot of classy features but it feels too busy inside for me. I like simplicity and performance. The X7 M60i is a beast on wheels and handles with perfection and comfort. The looks are insane, classy but at the same time very sporty. I am super happy with this SUV and actually feel this is by far the best SUV I have ever owned, and I have owned many ;-)

Smooth ride, smoother engine 2023 X7 M60i

I really enjoy driving my fully equipped 23 X7 M60i, despite some differences from my 21 Mercedes GLS 450 that I traded after racking up 67K in a 22 months! I currently have almost 16k on my 23 X7 M60i, that being said, I feel very qualified to say the following: 1. the power is simply outstanding and smooth, 2. the transmission is probably one of the best in a vehicle of this class. 3. The middle row is spacious and very comfortable (I prefer the bench seat for my family), and I love the center arm rest, 4. the professional driving package is worth the extra money, especially when driving long distances. All-in-all, I love the styling of the new X7 - it has grown on me, oh the power is just incredible, and finally it's a wonderful for long trips in the customized sport mode stiffening the suspension. Wishes, the front seats could have a bit more cushion / support, the massaging seats are not as strong as my GLS 450. Last thoughts, the 22 wheels are just fine and look incredible!

The X7 M60i exceeded my expectations by far. I upgraded my 2019 X5 m-pack to this to be able to take long trips with my daily and dogs with luxury and performance and I got it all to perfection. Excellent performance, easy to navigate UI, super comfortable seating in all three (second - captains) rows of seats not even mentioning Bowers & Wilkins audio system. It’s sound truly puts you in the studio or concert hall or similar, just select the desired setup. The best BMW I’ve owned so far. And I’ve owned adout a dozen of them. Drive it and you will feel the difference!

This vehicle is replacing both a 2017 Z71 Tahoe and a 2015 BMW M235i Convertible so it has big shoes to fill. It’s beautiful. The ride is superior. It’s not a sport car but it still is enjoyable to drive and has a punch. The seats are quite comfortable and we are looking forward to our first road trip to the ocean. This car serves has to be comfortable and accessible for two elderly parents with mobility and pain issues and be enjoyable for the driver as well, a car enthusiast. I got the bench seat so it will fold flat but did not sacrifice second row comfort by forgoing the captain’s chairs. We are unlikely to use the third row but need the room for walkers and so on back there and for packing up to go to on weekend getaways. Very happy so far. Tanzanite Blue with Luxury Trim (chrome vs black) is my new favorite color! Gorgeous.

Got the vehicle in December of 22 and I took it in for service in march with noise in the brakes and I was told that normal give it time to brake in oil change popped up on the dash when it was not time to change also sos malfunction light keeps popping up on dash brakes still have the same issue , and last month took the vehicle in because it lounging forward when driving, took it in and that resulted in the vehicle needing a transmission at fourteen thousand miles after picking up the Vehicle, when transmission replaced my windshield wipers was knocking on the driver side they said has nothing to do with the transmission took it back for noise on the brakes and as of today it’s the same problem. More problems with this X7 on Sunday coming from church the screen went blank all by itself drove home with blank screen took the vehicle off then waited about ten minutes and decided to start it and the screen came back on. I called my service advisor and I was told to bring it in so I have an appointment for tomorrow will keep you posted.

We got our 2023 X7 and right away started having issues. The driver side seat belt was twisted and when we tried to get BMW to fix it, they said it was not a warranty issue!!! After complaining they dealer agreed to replaced the belt. Also multiple errors with the driver assist and now they are saying I need to pay $1000 to replace the front sensors because it was damaged due to a pebble!!! Again not warranty coverage. The car has been in the shop for 3 weeks not and still not fixed. Waiting for a part from Germany. There are better cars out there so stay away from this model.

I had 2021 x7 prior to my new 2024 custom order. 21 did not have B&W, wireless charger, and Active Steering. I hated the vernasca leather(hard) and the hi-fi stereo were inferior to most. So, my new x7 I loaded with B&W, merino leather, and Active Steering. The car is awesome so far. Fast, excellent sound system, and Active Steering is nice at turn. Looks and drives better than GLS.

If you call a 100k vehicle a value, then overall this is one of them. For its size, it handles well, although it’s still a big suv so you still need to anticipate certain maneuvers. The build quality is pretty solid and it’s as quiet as a library inside. The IDrive 8 system is a steep learning curve (this is my first BMW) but once you get familiar with it you’ll be ok for the most part. I’m still annoyed that almost every is hidden in menus and the climate control functionality is ridiculous (you have to see it to believe it). The jury is still out on reliability since I’ve only had it for 3 months. Overall though, the X7 is a tech powerhouse with good driving dynamics to match.

Thought it would be a luxurious quiet ride NOT

Been an audi driver for many years. needed a new car and couldnt find a Q7 prestiege package anywhere. so I went with the BMW X7 as reviewers ranked it compreable . NOT The x7 engine is very loud tnrough multiple gear changes on acceleration. Sometimes so much so that the steering wheel vibrates. Once at a cruising speed on the highway it is relatively quiet. But if the majority of your driving is around town, the noise produced by the engine, as its shift through the early gears is very disquieting, and certainly not luxurious. Second row, captain seats, do not fold down, making it subpar to the Q7 in terms of cargo space. If I had to do it again, I would have waited for the Audi Q7 prestige plus luxury package to arrive. Will be getting out of the X7 as soon as possible. Very disappointed with the SUV not the quiet lucurious SUV I was looming for. if I had to do it again, I would have waited for the Audi Q7 prestige plus luxury package to arrive. Will be getting out of the X7 as soon as possible. Very disappointed with the car. Its not the quiet and luxurious cabin that I was looking for. I thought I could make do with some of the subpar finishes. But the cabin noise handling and ride just don’t cut it.

I purchased 2023 bmw x7 about a month ago Nice Suv seats up to 7 passengers. 2nd and 3rd row has very little leg room.

There is a lot of technology to get used to, honestly, a lot I dont use (self park etc...) but it is so quiet, comfortable, rear seats can be adjusted and has tons of leg room. Fold flat seats for the second row are nice. Lots of room in front, seats are amazing and very comfortable (they do take a bit to break in). The power is all you'll ever nee and is smooth as butter! Big vehicle, but turning radius is great, easy to park. Had it for a year and no issues.
