2022 BMW X6 M Review

Though AMC first dabbled with the idea of a coupe-style SUV (see: Eagle SX/4), it was BMW that perfected the modern recipe for the niche vehicle type. Essentially, the BMW X6 is a BMW X5 with a reworked roof, tighter back seat, smaller cargo area and bigger price tag. Hey, style doesn't come for free.

Adding plenty of extra flavor, the performance-tuned 2022 BMW X6 M is the most alluring version of BMW's Sports Activity Coupe. And while other luxury automakers have now copied the original X6 recipe with their own coupe-style SUVs, few of these models offer the same thrill of hammering the gas in the 600-horsepower X6 M. A performance-tuned suspension, grippy tires, big brakes, and M-specific exterior and interior details are also part of the X6 M's appeal.

BMW last redesigned the X6 M for the 2020 model year, and in 2021 the Competition trim level became a trim package. This year, BMW has dropped some appealing options such as wireless smartphone charging and a Bowers & Wilkins high-end audio system due to supply chain issues.
