bought a second one
This is my second X-5. This time I got the 4.4 vs the 3.0 last time . Very impressed with the difference in performance with the new I drive and engine. Performance center pickup a must to see what this vehicle can do. Overall gas mileage is better than the 3 liter, average 16.9 mpg overall
X5 outdoes my expectations
I have not been able to find a flaw in the design or structure of the 2005 X5. Everything works and in one year I have not had any problems. The new 4.4 engine is extremely responsive and very smooth. Holds the road like a vette. The price is high but worth it. I traded a 2003 for the 05 and am glad I did.

From 325xi to X5 4.4i - Wow!
I traded in my 2002 325xi on a new 4.4i about a week ago and have been very impressed. Power is great, the 6- speed automatic is silky smooth and the navigation system is top-notch. Interior space is fantastic, controls logically placed, finish is superb - what I've come to expect from BMW. And so far, 18 mpg in mixed driving. Not bad for a 315 hp V8!
Best of both worlds
The BMW X5 4.4i provides SUV stability and versitility without losing the performance expected from a BMW. Whether commuting, car pooling, taking a weekend family trip (with the dog), or moving furniture from one place to another, the X5 is the perfect vehicle. Really recommend the 4.4 engine upgrade for better power transfer -- the gas mileage is virtually the same as with the smaller engine.
Love It
I compared it with the XC90 and preferred the X5 -- love it.
