I would buy another
No problems whatsoever. It handles like a sedan and manuvers extremely well. It is comfortable and suitable for long road trips.
Not your Soccer Mom's SUV
Not wanting to sacrifice driving experience (I've driven a 1997 BMW 5 series for the past 8 years) but needing to buy a 6,000+ lb. vehicle for my business, I settled on an X5 with the sport suspension. It has been a great vehicle. If you weren't up so high, you'd hardly know that you weren't in a sport sedan. In addition, despite the extra weight, I average a shade less than 19.5 mpg, a mere 1 mpg short of what I was getting from my 528! The panoramic moonroof is excellent as are the sport seats. The only things I dont like are the body molding that runs under the doors - it is a dirt trap and my pant legs seem to always rub it and the lack of a super large cargo area.

BMW Lover
WOW What a Truck, I personally never like BMW's I always though that they drove too hard and the leather interior was just to stiff. But this truck has made me a BMW Lover. This truck handels excellent in all weather even the rain....
smooth ride on 2005 model
The ride is awesome, looks fantastic, very roomy for our teenagers and a third friend ... my wife wants an exact duplicate. Avoid the sport package ... makes for a bumpy ride and restrictive seats! Bluetooth function on the intergrated cellphone is seemless! Extended sunroof, creates a roomy feel in the cabin. IF YOU HAD PREVIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT THE RIDE AND PRICE, I'D ENCOURAGE YOU TO TAKE ANOTHER TEST DRIVE IN A 2005 MODEL!
X5 4.4i ZPP ZCW ZSP
2400 miles into ownership I'm quite happy. Mileage of 16.5 mpg driving "assertively". Only 1 minor scratch on interior door handle to complain of. Sports package ride is rigid but not uncomfortable. Test drive with and without that package to see what suits you. Adjustable rear seat is useful when loading cargo area.
