X1 ‘23 Still no remedy for IBS/DSC systems

Update Oct 24: I contacted BMW by letter and their rep responded with a phone call. I explained my utter disappointment at the glacial pace of their Recalls remedies and the virtually non existent Customer Service at all levels. The rep had no answers and was absolutely no help. I am done with the brand. I want to know my vehicle is reasonably safe. I have doubts about this one. Update: X1 '23 Recall notice was issued for the Integrated Braking System (IBS) Feb. 2024. It is mid April and there is no remedy and no service call. 😢 The fuel door would not open when I went to get gas and I've read online others have had similar problem. Fortunately. I had enough gas to travel a long distance, because the local BMW Service where I was, said it would take two days to get the part for the repair and that was the case. TWO DAYS. (Previous review)...it is quite nice. I was looking at more cargo, but BMW was making offers for my very low mileage 2020 2 Gran Coupe and offered the same lease on a new 2023, but as everyone knows, it’s all about supply and there weren’t any at my dealer. My salesperson had a notion, it was the X1 they were using as a demo, 41 miles, 2 months old. From the moment I got in, the upgrade in quality reflected in the seats was palpable. Love the engine, don’t love the Dual clutch. The start/stop is annoying and deactivating it each time you drive is worse. I am appalled at the ConnectedDrive. This program is the worst of the worst. I urge you all to read carefully the terms and conditions before clicking thru. You may have purchased heat capable seats, but you may have to subscribe to BMWs service in order to heat them. It is happening in Australia now! That is only the beginning. I may be parting ways with them if they push this anti-customer service down our throats. But I love the X1. Smooth drive, sporty, and luxurious….no, really this time.

Missing my 2018 x1 - Disappointing Remodel

I loved my 2018 x1 but needed to replace it due to high mileage. I thought the 2023 would be even better. Unfortunately, it's not. The car hesitates when speeding up. This is NOT safe. The lack of the middle console dial and knobs is annoying. Why get rid of them? That dial was such a great feature. Now you are forced to take your eyes off the road to change the temp or turn the station. Sure, you can use the voice assist but it is slow and unreliable. The other thing that annoys me is that you have to put it in sport mode every time you start the car to disable auto shut-off (car turns off at lights are when not in motion). Sports mode turns the car into a gas guzzler which defeats the purpose of even having an auto shut off feature. The former x1 was petite but had lots of storage areas. Now the car is wider (bulkier) and no longer has the discreet necessary storage areas. Yesterday there was a system update which disabled my blue tooth and my phone won't connect.

The car is agreeable to drive. The uptake from a stop involves some hesitation, as noted in most reviews. Its ability to remember and back the car out of the garage by itself is something I really like because my garage is narrow. The voice commands for navigation aren’t great. Neither is the map display. And the menu system for setting up options is too complicated. The front camera does not automatically turn on in driving head first into a space— you have to turn it on yourself. Rear cross traffic safety warning is just a subtle thunk, thunk, thunk, and car has to be in reverse. My Toyota is much louder, has a visual and audio warning, and is more aware. Ride is reasonably quiet and pretty good on bumps with my 18” wheels. On highway at a pretty steady 75mph get 36mpg. But in suburban driving, which is far from full of traffic lights, get about 22mpg.

Was looking for a small SUV to replace an Audi Q5 to use around town. I drive an M5 and this is for my wife who loves it. It feels way more expensive then it’s fully optioned price if $49k. M Sport package is a game changer if you want something that is more BMW traditional then mainstream modern BMW. Uses tried and true drivetrain and is sharp in person. Highly recommended.

Wanted to get back to leasing but also wanted another BMW. This car replaced my 2015 BMW 328i (which I loved!). Loved the redesign job on this car both on the outside and inside. Comes extremely well equipped for the price- I only added the convenience package to mine. It’s much roomier than I expected and the engine and power are as expected from BMW. Definitely glad I made the switch.
