Most Fun For Your Buck

I recently bought myself a second hand silver-grey '92 500SL Mercedes-Benz as my 'summer vehicle'. I already was a Mercedes fan (reliability) for some years, and since we have a '89 560SL in the family I knew it was a fun vehicle. Well, it sure is! I've been driving it for a couple of months now and I'm very, very impressed with the comfort it provides, especially for a (now) 11-year old car. Being 11 years old I reckon I will have some expenses to keep the car in optimum condition, but in contrast, the price of purchase was one-fifth of the original sticker price.

Owned 95-02. Such a great car, hard to replace. Fun, beauty, sleek ride, great response in maneuverability and speed. Only thing I can really complain about is no cup holders and always spilling my drinks in the car.

1992 500 SL Mercedes Qwnership

I only realized after buying my 1992 Mercedes 500 SL was almost a $100K car new. When you start looking into the technology and quality of the car you soon see this was not just another car for that kind of money. It was the car for a person who wanted the best. Its ride 30 years after being built is as smooth and rattle free as it was new. The leather seats and canvas top still have wear left and seal well. The body and paint still rust free and shiny. The engine powerfull and smooth. You could cruise all day at 70 to 80 MPH without even using half the cars capability. Brakes are first class and the safty built into the design was way ahead of its time. If something needs replaced its a pretty easy to maintain yourself but dealer repairs depending on the issue can be costly but the car is built like a tank and repairs have not been out of line for the age of the vehicle. It still doesn't leak or burn oil and I have 95K miles on the odometer. I think the prices have been on the rise and you can not believe how well these older Mercedes were built. Its a future classic . Larry Hunt

There's nothing quite like an SL - fast, comfortable, stylish, in a class by itself.
