thanks bdimond for the advice to claire that also gave me some insights on installing a GPS in a non nav Jag 1. what about if i get an entire working Nav unit removed from a Dead jag xj X308 (1997–2003) or X350 (2003-2007) they all seem to have a Nav unit. do you think the dimension of the xj Nav console can fit into a Xtpye dash board panel. are ... Hi, Im currently looking for a luxury sedan ...Ive always been a fan of the BMW 740 Sport but have heard and read some bad things about those cars as far as reliability and cost of repair. Ive recently been looking at Jaguars (specifically the X Type) because I love the classic lines and styling of these smaller versions. Im just not sure how reliable these cars are ....I assume quality ... Read More

IIRC Chase Auto finance is around 37% on a 12k lease and they have approximately .00280 money if you are tier 1. Don't quote me on this exactly, but if I recall I am quite close. Jaguar Credit's program is better, but the extra $4,500 in trunk money negates their program on the X-Type... even though you pay more interest with Chase, your net cost is lower.

Here's the information that you're looking for, rossw21. Jaguar Credit's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2007 Jaguar X-Type with 15,000 miles per year are .00072 and a brutal 39%, respectively. The numbers for an otherwise identical 48 month lease are .00132 and 31%. As you can see, this car's residual values are pretty bad. When negotiating your lease on it, ... Read More

Hi rsal50. Jaguar Credit's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2007 Jaguar X-Type Sedan with 15,000 miles per year are .00106 and 42%, respectively. Jaguar is currently providing a total of around $1,900 in lease cash on this car. Make sure to take this cash into account when negotiating its selling price. Hi Adam. Jaguar is currently providing a total of slightly over $1,900 lease cash on the 2007 X-Type. Make sure to take this cash into account when negotiating the capitalized cost for your lease. I suspect that you will be able to negotiate a selling price that is $1,000 to $1,500 below invoice if there is a decent level of competition in your area. I would be happy to give you ... Read More

Hi jlinchec. I can give you an idea of what this car's lease program is currently like. You never mentioned how long you want to lease it for or how many miles per year you need to be able to drive it, so for now I will assume that you want a 36 month lease with 15,000 miles per year. Let me know if you want something different. Jaguar Credit's buy ... Read More

I was actually $8000 under MSRP of $30,995 (there was factory to dealer cash on the 2.5 5spd manual X-types at the time). As long as the warranty is through a legitimate manufacturer (Ford does still own Jaguar, at least until they can unload it), I would think that would still be good. In general, extended warranties have about a 50% to 100% markup for the selling dealership (e.g., Toyota Platinum ... Read More

What is the name of the company that is backing the warranty? There have been a number of problems with non-manufacturer backed warranties, although I have heard that Warranty Direct is reasonably reputable. I have a 2005 X-type with 5000 miles on it (its been a great car), and I can get a 7 yr/75,000 mile warranty from them for about $2400. Apparently, it is relatively risky to own a Jaguar ... I bought a 2005 base Jaguar 2.5 X-type with 5spd manual in 9/05. The vehicle has about 5000 miles on it and there have been no problems at all. My jury of one says A OK! I do agree with previous posts regarding owning a Jaguar out of warranty. My plan is to keep the car only until shortly before 4 years or 50,000 miles, unless I can find a great ... Read More

Discussion on another website turned to this so I thought I would ask it here. There has been some suggestions that Jaguar will unviel and new X-type in 2007. Does anyone have any confirmation on this?

I am a VW guy, but confess that I have always loved the looks of Jaguars. The current X-type would be the only Jag I could afford, and it would be a used one at that. However, I've heard that these will be discontinued in 2007. Does anybody know of this? I may be interested in these X-types, but certainly NOT if they are only going to made for 2 more ...
