Hi to all... My wife's '06 S-Type 4.2L VDP (60k miles & still under extended warranty) has a chronic summer cooling problem: On hot Atlanta days with the Climate Control set on 'Auto' and 70F, the air blows cold fairly soon, but the blower fan doesn't speed up past level 2 to distribute enough cold air. She has to lower the temperature down to 'LO' and manually crank up the fan ... Read More

Our 2001 S Jaguar seat pops the current limiter when you try to move it fore or aft. Tilt and up/down work until that current limiter pops and will work again in 5 minutes. The dealer wants $1700 for new tracks and the motor. I just bought a used seat on E-Bay and will switch the parts. Why don't they sell the motor itself? Are there any tricks I need to ... Read More

What is the torque on valve gasket bolts jaguar 2001 s-type 4.0 v8?
Bear mbalasu, This doesn't sound good. First of all, if your transmission slipped while driving up hill, then worn clutches are the most likely culprit. However, slipping clutches will throw ratio codes in your trans. control module. Sounds like your technician doesn't have a scanner that will read anything but engine codes. Occasionally you can find a car that will flair between shifts due to low fluid or a bad shift ... Read More
My Jag has 115K miles. Why would a transmission quit uphill? I had only one instance in the past when I thought it slipped. Other than that I think this failure was sudden. I turned the car around using gravity, and rolling downhill I was able to engage trans in 2nd gear. I took the car to the mechanic (authorized he says to work on Jags), and I had the trans ... How did you determine that the ball joints need replacing? You are allowed .8mm play in them. You raise the vehicle and put a jackstand under the lower suspension arm. Then wiggle the wheel at 12 and 6 o'clock and have someone note the play in the ball joint. Also be aware that there was a recall on this car for loose ball joints because the joint nuts were not tightened ... Read More
Hello, i have a 2001 Jaguar S type that needs the front 2 left and right side lower ball joints replaced. I am thinking of ordering the parts from MacAuto parts (part number XR8041215J). I have a 2001 S 3.0. Air conditioning works fine but no heat. Firestone ran the diagnostics and said I needed a new Climate control module at $1800. Ken, I purchased a used 2001 in 2005 with 49k miles. Still have it, tranny going out, with close to 110k. The Ford tranny, which mine has, goes about 100, based on what the dealers said. Other than the hvac going out, which I now question, based on the mechanic involved, no real maintenance issues. The car is great to drive and good for the ego, if you like comments about ... This is probably too little too late but I experienced the same thing with my 2001 S-Type. Had pads replaced and rotors turned but within 2 days the squeal was back. Turns out rotors were supposed to be replaced, not turned(whatever that means) anyway, replaced with "normal" ... Read More

Question number 1, The fuel filter is in the gas tank. 2) The transmission is sealed, there is no dipstick if you have to have this looked at the Jaguar dealer will have to do it. 3) You car is fuel injected, have the dealer check your ignition coils. Hope this helps. :)
I have three questions...LOL 1)Where in the world is the fuel filter? 2) Where is the transmission dipstick? 3)Have a problem starting the car after 20-30 minutes. Like it isn't getting fuel, then when it does start smells like it is nearly flooded. Thanks, Angie
