First the Dimmer switch went out, replaced it. lights on the dash panel (ABS, Gas Gauge, Air Bag, etc) dont always go off some of them work some of the time and some of them dont. Its what the car wants at the time. Even the motors in the windows quit working, had them replaced, now they wont work again. Now you can put the vehicle in Drive, ... Read More
I wonder what the average cost to replace the water pump, belts, and plugs on a 1995 Dodge Intrepid. I had a friend do it, and I think he is way overcharging me, so if I could get some rough estimates from anyone I would appreciate it! Thanks, Vikki
Hi, my daughter has a 1995 Dodge Intrepid, 6 cyl., 3.5 liter. Lately, she has been starting the car and the climate control, power windows and reverse lights won't work. The ABS light is also on. I had originally thought it was a fuse but the windows are on a different fuse and some things on the climate control/ABS fuse still work. I changed fuses and relays and sometimes, after changing ... The 3.2 is an American engine, built by Chrysler. It's a smaller-displacement, all-aluminum version of the 3.5 that first came out in 1993. The 3.2 put out 225 hp and was used in the Intrepid ES and Concorde LXI models from 1998-2001, and then was replaced by a reduced hp version of the 3.5. Mitsubishi made a 3.0 V-6 that Chrysler used in their minivans, the Dodge Stealth, and some of ... Read More
I know that for my '96 you turn the key 7 times.
On the newer Dodges, you turn the ingition key to acc position while at the same time pressing the trip odomenter. That will pull up all your codes in an easy to read manner.
The fact that there are so may problems in so many different systems makes me think it in the central computer. Have you had it checked out. With Chrysler cars up until more recent ones, it was possible to get the computer codes by turning the ignition key on and off three times without starting the car. I do not know if the 1995s could still do that. It might be ... Read More
My intrepid is doing the same thing as yours was. Does not seem to be able to hold a charge on the battery. I have replaced the battery but have had to still jump it several times. Did replacing the alternator fix your problem?
I have a 95 Intrepid and My family and I are the first and only owners. At about 130k miles, the car has been great up until about 2 years ago. My father is a mechanic and had kept the car in great shape, but we have been having some problems. About 2 years ago it started with the battery being unable to hold a charge. We replaced the battery and ... Read More
Hey, everyone, glad to see a discussion board about Intrepids. I've been a member of the C&D forums for several months now and enjoy them. Anyway, I'm here for some advice. I drive a 1995 Dodge Intrepid with the 3.3L 161 HP engine. It has 135,100 miles on it and has been a great car. Recently, the A/C broke. It hasn't given me problems before. It was working fine one day, ... Read More
I have a 1995 Dodge Intrepid 3.5L V6, and I am looking for faster acceleration. I was wondering if there are any aftermarket performance upgrades available that are not too expensive. I do not want nitrous, as I have heard too many bad stories. Any suggestions are appreciated.
That's exactly it! It won't come out of third gear! I was about 30 minutes from home last night when it locked! I ran it home that way with the 3-way flashers on. I got it up to about 50 miles per hour but the RPM's were running about 4. Lucky I didn't blow the engine. I've sent an E:mail to Pat Goss who does Motorweek asking for suggestions. I've had ... Have had some trans. probs. w/ our 95 ES. When car is first driven in the morning, at the first stop sign, the car hesistates and lurches before it shifts into first. I'm not sure what you mean by "locks up". The only thing similar we've had is after the battery was disconnected for awhile, the transmission behaved very strangely when car was driven again. Apparently it takes a week or ... Read More
I purchased a used Dodge Intrepid 3 years ago. I had nothing but problems with the transmission. I've taken it to several repair shops and no one can seem to pin-point the problem. It runs fine in the fall and winter months. Last year the transmission would lock up within 30 minutes of driving if I used the air conditioner. If I didn't run the air conditioner it would run fine. ... Read More
