I took my 1998 Chrysler Sebring Convertible JXI, to the dealer for a diagnostic (as no one else could tell me what was really wrong with it). Well, $300, in testing later, I was told that the problem was with the PCV Module. I am paying $1,130 for tests, module, and oil change. The dealer recently called me and said that the module was now doing fine, they re-tested and said ... Read More

I just read online that Chrysler has sent out a recall on Sebrings due to an electrical problem that might cause stalling or other issues. "Chrysler will seal the wires for the tire pressure monitoring system" at no cost. However--according to the story I read it is on 2007-08 models only. As we know, this problem occurs in Sebrings from 1998-2008. Mine is a 1999 and after the 4th repair recently, ... Read More

I have a 1998 Chrysler Sebring that was given to me and it drove fine for about 3 weeks then all of a sudden I was driving down the road and it didn't want to go and tried to stall out. I got it towed to a mechanic who took two days to tell me that it doesn't show up on the diagnostic and it needs a new computer. He wants ... Read More

I hate to say this but fire 'em and take it some place else.. When you plug in the OBD2 diagnostic computer and it shows no codes then the problem has to be an obvious mechanical issue.. Like they didn't bleed off the air out of the injector rail or it has a vacume leak some where in the air intake system. Even if the engine is misfiring the computer will ... Read More

I have a 2008 Sebring convertible and I am very happy with it. The 2.7litre engine is returning over 30mpg. Everything works as it should and I have it maintained regularly. If you look closely at the number of recent complaints with Chrysler vehicles compared to other makes including Ford, Honda, etc they are surprisingly few. I have a feeling that many of the complaints against Chrysler on this and other ... Read More

Hi all. My father purchased a 1998 Chrysler Sebring brand new. He recently purchased a Dodge Durango and wants to sell this gorgeous car to me for a couple grand. There is only 1 problem. HI, Does anyone know how many driving miles it takes to reset the ODB on a 1998 Chrysler Sebring Couple 6 cyl once the battery has been disconnected? I tried to get my Sebring emmissions tested and my ODB was reset by removing and replacing the battery cable. The Emissions dude said that I had to drive the car for a while before it could be read again. He said it ... Read More

To Buy or not to Buy

Hello Everyone. I have enjoyed all the comments about the Sebring. I was interested in purchasing a 2003 Sebring Coup. It is loaded with a price tag of $27,000. Since there are many problems listed would you buy another one? If I go by the Consumer Report it seems that 90% of the cars have some problems. I have a 1998 Cirrus with 107,000 and have never had a problem. I ... Read More

We purchased a loaded leftover '99 JXi In April, 2000, and have had very few problems with it. Our biggest problem is who gets to drive it, the wife or me. Living in New England with our winters, the cloth top is down every chance we get. Anything above 45 degrees is fair game to put it down. The top and heater have been trouble-free and at 59K miles, the top ... Read More
I now have 120k on my 97 JX 6-cycliner which I've never had any problems with. I bought it as a program car with 15k back in 1998. My problems are: 1) Oil light keeps coming on when I'm in Drive and at a stoplight and the engine idles low. If I rev the engine just a hair, the oil light goes off. 2) Stupid Service Engine Soon light keeps coming ... Read More
