Want to know if anyone has had just the gas gauge not work and why? Is it fused or does the wire run all the way back to the fuel tank? Could it just be the gauge itself. Not sure how to fix or where to start. Its a 1996 Chrysler LHS, 3.5 v-6 Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

I have a 1996 Chrysler LHS that for the past few months have been getting increasingly worse. The problems are (1) Rough/high/poor idling, (2) Incorrect Idle speed/stalling, (3) stalling and jerking when coming to a stop at traffic lights. Before I replaced my IAC valve/motor one week ago it had never cut off when I stopped at a stop light (which it did yesterday), also before I replaced my IAC valve/motor ... Read More

I just purchased a 1996 Chrysler LHS and I absolutely love it. BUT, I have a short somewhere cause it keeps running the battery down. So now everytime I stop the car for any period of time, I always unhook the battery cable. I sure don't want to get stuck out somewhere with a dead battery. Can anyone please give me some advise on this matter.

Hello, I have a 1996 Chrysler LHS and I am having problems with my power door locks. Actually just the drivers side. When I just barely touch it, it makes a buzzing noise probably just like yours did. If i press it to unlock, all 3 other doors will lock, and vice-versa for when i press it to lock, they all unlock. With the exception of my drivers side door. With ... Read More

My original post was number 388 regarding the rumbling noise. After 10 days spent surfing the net, trouble shooting, writing letters and talking to regular people, I determined that the noise was a power steering pump going bad. I am not sure why the dealer could not diagnose the problem. Anyway, it is currently in the shop getting a new power steering pump and a water pump for good measure under ... Read More

I own a 1996 Chrysler LHS and have had many problems with the steering mechanism. The tie rods have been replaced twice, and the rack and pinion once. The car has 72,000 miles. I wrote four letters to Chrysler after learning that Chrysler developed technical bulletins reflecting the problems encountered. I was refused any assistance, including an evaluation request by any Chrysler dealership regarding the safety of the vehicle. Another problem ... Read More

I started buying Chryslers after having a bad experience with a General Motors product and an arrogant GM dealer. I can say from personal experience that Chryslers are not "great cars", just average. I have gotten respectable service out of the three I have purchased, which were top of the product line. And the Chrysler dealer has been polite and relatively honest. My recently acquired '96 LHS (#388) has done pretty ... Read More

  • 1996 LHS, RUMBLING NOISE

    Written by: anthony56 on Apr 28, 2000 2:56:02 AM

I purchased a 1996 Chrysler LHS with 46,000 miles last fall. Shortly after I bought the car I noticed a rumbling or growling noise that periodically came from under the hood. This usually occurs as you first start moving forward, after shifting from reverse to drive, although it can happen any time when first moving forward. The noise only lasts for an instant and there is a hint of vibration with ... Read More
