Ready for anything--updated
This is my second Volvo and first Cross Country. I learned to drive in a Volvo 245 wagon, so in a way, this is coming home. After years of owning Saabs (sedan and convertible), I switched to Volvo 5 years, picking up an AWD S60. It has been a great commuter car for me, but at times I felt constrained if I wanted to shop at Home Depot or Costco on my way home for work. My wife has driven the Grand Caravan, then Touareg and now Audi Q5s. The V60 CC is as capable a vehicle as you will find, albeit not as sporty as some. The seats are luxurious, and I never tire of sitting in them for a long drive--or just a quick hop. The three variants of driving experience--Eco, Comfort, and Dynamic provide different settings to suit your mood. Dynamic is my preferred for rush hour, but the vehicle is heavy enough that it really is not a "sport driving" vehicle. A few weeks after receiving the car, I did upgrade to Polestar optimization. This is a chip upgrade that changes the engine and transmission programming. It changed the car into much more of sport sedan feeling (within constraints of the suspension), and is quite worth it if you can afford the approximately $1200 cost. The Polestar optimization does not affect warranty or fuel economy. With the Polestar upgrade, Dynamic mode becomes Polestar mode. Eco setting has best mileage, but has long slow shifts, so save it for when you are not in a hurry--I get over 31 mpg on the highway in Eco mode. The standard Comfort setting, on as default at start, is really a good all purpose driving experience. Comfort is very good in snow and ice. Fit and finish has been excellent. Complaints about little interior storage are valid, but as the usually sole occupant, it is ample. The standard stereo lacks some brightness and low range bass that I enjoyed on the Harmon Kardon system in my S60. If music is really important to your driving experience, I would recommend upgrading the sound system. Amazing safety gear--even automatically avoids collisions if I should start to change lanes and a care has moved into my blind spot. I bought my car in June 2020, when there were many incentives, so the price was quite good with 0% financing. I'm a Costco member, which really helped with the transaction experience and cost. Overall, a great vehicle for dealing with whatever mission you are going on, and wish to be comfortable to boot.

Absolutely love our V60 cross country
Spent quite some time looking for small crossovers and wagon alternatives with an edge for safety, technology, and luxury and this car has not disappointed one bit. The Advance package with pilot assist is a joy when driving along the highway and has already saved our butts in crazy Seattle traffic a couple times, definitely worth it. The interior with the cross country pro package is extremely well appointed and by far the most comfortable car I’ve ever owned. Once you learn the central tablet layout and system it’s not a chore to quickly and effectively use it. Have about 5,000 miles on the odometer with 90% of it being city driving on poor roads and there’s no squeaks or rattles anywhere in the cabin. Driving this car is a calming experience in any traffic or weather, great ground clearance for getting to trail heads and ski resorts, and it gets a lot of looks as you just don’t see many wagons like this out in the wild; especially among a sea of bland crossovers and SUV’s. The T5 also has plenty of power to glide you efficiently to highway speeds and easy overtaking on mountain passes. If you’re looking you should pick one up, you won’t regret it.

Wife Wanted an SUV, I wanted a Sedan
My wife wanted an SUV for utility and space. I wanted a sedan for it's better milage and handling - and not wanting to follow the herd to buy an SUV like so many others in the US. Since we had decided to change to a one-vehicle family, we needed to compromise. Then we found the 2020 V60 Cross Country. This car is everything that we both wanted. I never thought I'd be buying a station wagon, but one look at this sleek beauty and I wondered what I was concerned about. It handles great, both the exterior and interior are beautiful, the car handles well and even the gas mileage is very good.

A luxurious Outback/SUV alternative
The Cross Country is a very satisfying package that feels just right. It is luxurious, comfortable and well made. It is not the fastest with the only available T5 engine, but still fast enough, and faster than the official numbers would have you believe. Handling is better than the SUVs I’ve had (2012 and 2018 Grand Cherokee), but more comfortable than the sports sedans (2015 BMW 335i, 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia).

Most beautiful wagon on the market
Decided to switch out and upgrade after two reasonably utilitarian outbacks (2011 and a 2017). This is the most aesthetically attractive wagon in the world right now-- in my opinion. Car is tight, gets reasonable MPG-- averaging about as well as our 2017 outback but with 50% more power. Smaller but still very efficiently designed to maximize room. E.g., it's about 20 cubic feet less storage than the outback with seats down, but because the front seat slides further forward, I can easily fit my 7'-6" surfboard in the back-- which was a stretch for my Outback. Pano sunroof is gorgeous and standard. Interior is much nicer than the Outback, much tighter fit and finish. No issues so far with about 6K miles. Only minor electrical gremlin is the driver mirror appears to randomly adjust itself sometimes when the car starts. I wasn't a fan of the driver computer initially but after a few days it becomes intuitive and is much better than the new Outback. Also engine can be a little rougher than say an Audi or X3, and perhaps even the new Outback XT, but still pretty quiet and a tranquil drive overall. Subaru dealer was very rude and unmotivated about selling us a new Outback when our 2017 lease expired, so we got a great lease deal with OC Volvo for less than the price of an Outback XT. If you want something unique and more luxurious than an outback, v60 CC is it.

So far, so good
Just picked up my new Cross Country Wagon this week and I took it onto dirt roads in the desert last night. It drives over city potholes and country washboards with absolute competence and nice cushion. I can't wait to break the car in with more excursions.

Every day I love it more
I'm sure I will add to this review over time. I spent a long time debating over my next car. I was coming from my first (and last) CUV and only knew I wanted a car again. A wagon made sense to retain some of the practicality that the CUV afforded which narrowed down the field quite a bit. My head kept telling me to go with the Subaru Outback but my heart wasn't in it. My spouse has a C-Class Cabriolet and I mused about a C-Class wagon (which is available in Canada). Many years ago, I chose a 2004 Passat GLX 4Motion wagon over a 2004 Cross Country and sometimes wondered if I made the right choice, which is brought my attention back to Volvo. The V90 wagon variants, although stunning and large, were a little more than I was prepared to spend. The V60 T6 was very difficult to find but there was a decent selection of V60 Cross Country T5s across the country. I test drove one, watched and/or read every review I could find and ultimately placed the order. 2022 Volvo V60 Cross Country with Polestar Optimization, Premium Package, Advanced Package, Climate Package, Lounge Package and a few other a la carte options. It took me a few days to readjust back to a car after moving from a CUV (2019 Kia Sorento SXL) but I couldn't be happier. Cars just feel safer, more planted and handle better. It is already noticeably better on gas too - which is good since it takes premium fuel. Performance - it is a quick, spirited vehicle despite reviewers claims otherwise. The 2.0 turbo 4 cyl is responsive and smooth, in any drive mode. Driving with the Polestar Optimization mode activated enhances the performance in my experience with quicker shifts and longer gear ranges. In contrast to the C-Class's 2.0 turbo four, it seems quieter too. The braking seems sure-footed and gives confidence and the steering is precise and neither too soft nor too firm. Comfort - the front seats are incredibly comfortable, certainly the most comfortable I've ever experienced which draws from a wide range of premium and non-premium vehicles. My car is equipped with the heated and cooled seats, both of which add to the comfort. It is quite easy to find a perfect driving position too with fully adjustable seats, including thigh extension, side bolters and lumbar. Technology - so far, I'm impressed. It was perhaps the one area I was concerned about as many reviewers seem to be conflicted. The touchscreen has most of the controls, which seems a little much, but after a few days, I was totally accustomed to it and found I could quickly make adjustments without much effort or distraction. There are a few things I still need to learn and I'm not sure yet if there are tricks and tips for setting preferences but I prefer to have the 360 degree camera automatically turn on when backing up. That said, I have to share the 360 camera is not as clear or helpful as I've had in my other vehicles or our 2018 C Class. The adaptive cruise/pilot assist, on the other hand, may be the best I've experienced yet. It is very smooth and well-mannered. I have come to appreciate and rely on these semi-autonomous self-driving aids over the years but have also found most to be abrupt and jarring when engaging and unengaging. This system seems more natural. Style - my car is finished with the denim blue metallic and the blond napa leather interior. It is, quite frankly, stunning and head turning. I like the lines of the wagon. Infotainment - I touched on the Sensus system above and, personally, have gotten quite used to it and find it works well. It seems to be responsive enough for me too. I did not get the Bowers & Wilkins upgraded stereo system as I'm not someone who listens to music very often in the car but I did push the limits of the Hardon Kardon system and it sounds quite good to me (again, not an audiophile at all). Fit & Finish - As with most premium vehicles, there is a stark difference in the materials used and the quality of the finishes. This car is no different. Everything feels substantial to the touch. As I live with the vehicle, I will probably update this but, suffice it to say, I'm quite pleased with the purchase of this vehicle.

Love this car, hate the electronic gremlins
This gorgeous vehicle drives like a sport car- what a dream! pretty darn good mileage on the highway (28mpg), 26-27 city with all season tires ( snow tires eat more gas, as expected- still far better than my suburban). It is the most comfortable seat/cabin I have ever experienced, and the safety features and finishes are second to none. Finally, after multiple factory resets and software updates, the electrical gremlins seem to be gone. They were: loss of button function on steering wheel, touchscreen unreactive, driver door mirror randomly moving almost every time the car was started, a/c turning itself on (no, not the windshield defrost feature) when temps were in the 40s F, touchscreen display not loading, nav stopped working several times. These malfunctions were random and not frequent (minus the driver side mirror)- but I had begun to sour on the car. Finally, with these software bugs (seemingly) resolved, I can looooove this baby again.

Add the Polestar Optimization from the dealer!
Adding the Polestar Optimization brings back much of that punch that many of us previous T6 owners appreciate. That and ultimately comfortable seating, good storage space, and All Wheel Drive summer/winter capacity, the V60 T5 Cross Country checks all the boxes for me.
