Best Car
I am the second owner of a 940. Amazing car. Just hit 200,000. I'm going for 300,000. Love it and get compliments all of the time.
Was leery at first - now I am a fan
Bought this 940 turbo wagon with 203K. I have had to replace a few switches and a few gaskets, but I have to say - I like this car a lot. It handles well, is easy to work on, you can find parts very easy at a reasonable price, it is fun to drive, and the visibility all the way around is great. I drove it for a few months before deciding to invest in the minor repairs. The original owner had the service down regularly by Volvo and had the book stamped by a certified dealer, so I know it had all the critical services done when required. I like these old Volvo's - great reliable transportation.
The closest thing to perfection in a car.
I would never thought that the best car I would ever end up owning would be one that I never thought of getting. For the record, I am 22 years old and the only cars I was ever interested in were JDM's and Euros. I never batted an eye on a brand such as Volvo, mainly because it was an old man's vehicle. Well let me tell you a story about how and why this car is amazing, if not, close to perfection. After owning a 2004 G35 that turned out to be a huge financial disaster and overall not that good of a vehicle; I ended up selling that thing as to pay off the debt I was in. I was now left with 2k to spend on a car. What could've i bought at that time? I needed a car considering I do a lot of driving myself, so I was feeling rather hopeless as to thinking I won't get a good running car for 2k. Well that's when I did some digging online and found out that someone was selling a well-cared example for 1500. 260k on the clock, interior and exterior were in PERFECT condition. Someone loved this thing, and considering i heard good things about these cars, i thought, "why not?" I bit the bullet and bought the vehicle. And man, what a GREAT decision this was. For starters, this car is slow. So you won't be motivated to go quick as compared to the average mid-sized vehicle. It motivates you to drive safe and properly. The ride is firm and well grounded. It's probably one of the more secure cars you can have the pleasure of driving in. Visibility is very good, car is built to withstand decades of use. You'll feel safe knowing Volvo's build quality of these cars. And the absolute best thing about this vehicle? Is that it will never die (given you do the proper maintenance). The legendary redblock engine is equipped in these machines. These have known to go on for 400k miles and beyond. These cars were made to last. In my opinion, if there was a car the whole world should be driving, it should be the Volvo 940. Safe, incredibly reliable and easy to drive, it's everything a car should be and it excels it. Be wise and get yourself one of these if you're looking for a car that can last as long as possible. This car is AMAZING.

Boxy But Good!
This is my third Volvo. Great comfort for tall passengers. Seats are very supportive, visibility is excellent. Performance is not bad if expectations are realistic. Lots of room. 187,000 and burning no oil. Used parts and expert technicians are abundant.
