Used 1995 Volvo 940 Consumer Reviews
A Beautiful Vehicle
Since its purchase, I have only had to take it to a mechanic twice. In 14 years, there were only a handful of mechanical problems. This car is set apart from those of other manufacturers because you can actually do the work yourself. The styling is simple and functional, the seats are very comfortable and the car keeps on looking brand new. I wish I had more than one.
Still Happy
Very good car. Excellent comfort.
Reliable
It is a reliable and comfortable car. The only thing I would complain is not having enough horse power.
Best Car I ever owned
Bought this car new in 1994 and am sorry I ever sold it. Kept it until it had 214,000 miles and was still going strong. I then bought another for my 16 y/o daughter who had it 4 months when some putz ran into it and the insurance company totaled it. Am now looking for yet another one as they are easy to maintain and the safest and most reliable vehicle ever made!!!
Vixen 20+ years (bought new in 1995)
2020 Aug "Vixen", our 330,000 mile, 1995 940 was put to rest, and we were so impressed with Volvo, we replaced her w/ a S60 Volvo. Metal fatigue and her engine age was a factor. Ownership cost was impressive. We called our 940 "a recliner on wheels". Well engineered and reliable vehicles. Volvos depreciate to nothing, like most cars, but who cares, they are great vehicles, and people keep them a long time. Past Review: Where do I start. I was in my 30's and my husband (an EE & Vette guy ) yawned at my boring choice. Fast forward 19+ yrs, he is just elated with Vixen at 325,000 miles, although she periodically needs some money thrown in, Our car doc said it was one of the best models made. Great engineering. We are waiting for a good electric car to come out, and if Vixen should die, we'll buy an old Volvo. This car has been terrific. She boxy, boring, and nothing flashy, but her turning radius is amazing! We love our Vixen. At 330,000 miles we drove Vixen to her resting place. Best car we have ever owned. We replaced Vixen, with Vinny, a Volvo S60. Volvo is like a religion. Vinny got rear ended, and he took the hit well. The other car was totaled, whereas Vinny had $2,100 worth of damage. Like I said, it's a religion, based on great engineering and safety. This UPDATE is in AUG 2017 Still love my S60. Volvo is coming out with electric cars and hybrids. Can't wait to see their offers. I really like the brand. 2020 Loved Vixen so much (I mean, 330,000 miles) we bought a S60, and kept with the brand. The brand has served us well. We have owned Vinny 5 years now, and still having an affair!
