2010 VW Jetta 2.5L SE
I bought my 2010 Jetta in May 2010. It is my second Jetta and 4th VW/Audi product I've owned. By far this is the best Jetta ever made. The 2010 includes many improvements over the 2009 and earlier models. The seats were given my cusion making them even more supportive. The lumbar is very good. User interface ergonomics are excellent. Interior build materials are on par with premium level vehicles. The Mk. V Jetta compares well against the likes of the Mercede-Benz C-230. The standard audio system is 8 speakers with excellent sound quality. Sunroof is smooth and quick. Everything is right where is should be in this car. It is a joy to drive or ride in around town or cross country.
Love Hate relationship
I have a 2010 Wolfsburg Jetta with the 2.0T engine with the dsg its loaded leather sunroof heated seats I fell in love at first sight very well clean in mint condition for 78k I have had her for a little over a year purchased in Indiana 1 owner moved back to new jersey with it ... actually my first car my parents purchased me was a 2004 GLI that I completely fell in love with then I purchased 3 newer bmws and after totaling a 335i I felt coming back to Volkswagen would be an inexpensive fun vehicle that I could drive, for a couple of years was I wrong!!! . I do love the performance of this vehicle it will get up and go kind of feels like it has endless power on tap espically in S mode.. but will drink gas like a cow in S mode... love to take on road trips. Now I feel as though the gas mileage is sub par granted I do run regular in it. The brakes are mushy which I'm not used to coming from a bmw & to be honest they scare me sometimes in situations when traffic has come to a sudden hault. I've flushed the brakes I take the car to Volkswagen here in New Jersey for all my services and they say my brakes are fine.. Ive also have had multiple oil issues since day one its been quite frustrating. Ive had more issues with this vehicle then combined of any problems ive ever had with any of my 3 bmws. leaks oil in my drive way.... Oil pressure valve replaced, Oil leak from mainseal had to have the engine taken out for the main seal job also oil leaking from vacume leak which needed to be replaced ofcourse I take it to Volkswagen because I'm scared of anyone else working on the vehicle and it not being done properly.. purchased with 79k now have 92k... also ive had transmission issues which used to get worse in the summer time transmission would jump and shake the car and would get worse if I was in stop and go traffic it scared me to the point of me not wanting to drive it anymore... seems as though the dsg services where never done from previous owner.. took to vw did dsg service for 400$ has gotten better considerable... engine is loud I've gotten used to it I remember my 2004 gli, was also loud and sounded like a diesel truck. also randomly my key got stuck in the vehicle and the car would not turn off Police had to turn my car off with pliers and broke my key in half.... there for leaving me stranded in Philadelphia lol... had to have towed to dealer dealer needed to replace ignition column as well as order a key from Germany... I've been disgusted with the quality of Volkswagen I will never ever buy another VW product!! not reliable.. The seats are very comfortable I am 5"7 124 pounds and I feel as though Volkswagen has the most comfortable seats!! in the winter time I keep the heated seats on love how hot they get!! I think the leather is of very good quality looks very nice as well... in the last 5 months alone ive spent well over 5k in repair bills... ride is a bit bumpy car handles New jersey- Philly pot holes very well I would say... Also I do think the headlights are very bright I usually don't need to turn on my high beams on dark county roads but when I do I can see everything!!! lol I will continue to drive it especially since I've paid cash for it until I feel tired of it.. I think its hard to get tired or bored of driving a Volkswagen honestly but I am tired of the repair costs!!!

Import Quality Without Import Price
We fell in love with the Jetta's solid build and peppy drivetrain during the test drive. Purchased at 37,000 miles, we now have 100,000 with absolutely no problems. We maintain it well and expect to enjoy this car for another 100,000 miles. Parts and labor could be expensive, but it is rarely needing either so it is no matter. I highly recommend the 2010 Jetta 2.5L inline 5 cylinder!
2010 VW Jetta Wolfsburg Manual
This isn't our first VW Jetta. Although, we did test drive quite a lot of cars before purchasing this one. Amongst the cars we did not purchase Audi A4, BMW 325, Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and Mercedes C Series. A lot of these cars had nice features, some more than others. None put it all together with a manual, a great engine and a fair price tag like VW had. We are very proud owners of these vehicle. So much so, that we purchased the 100k mile warranty. Its a keeper.
Great value and fun to drive too!
Just leased the 2010 LE automatic last week. I have to admit this is one fun car to drive. Fit and finish are on par with BMW and Mercedes. I just came off of a 5 series BMW lease, and my wife drives a 300 AWL Benz. I actually prefer the ride of the Jetta to the Benz. Not quite a challenge to the BMW's handling and performance, but for less than half the price it's a pretty good trade off. The cabin is extremely quiet, even over rough pavement, and the car corners through turns very confidently with just modest body roll. Acceleration is reasonably quick. The car has a heftier feel to it which belies it's actual weight. This translates into what feels like a more substantial road presence.
Poor man's BMW
This car is a great value. It is supremely comfortable for folks over 6' tall, only Volvos have more comfortable seats. The interior is very upscale for a $23k car. The new audio and climate controls, and new gauge cluster are easy and add a touch of class. The power and handling are incredible too. I never thought comfort and performance could be had in spades, together in the same car. Averaging 30+ MPG combined driving with a lead foot. Love the thoughtful features like climate system going into recirculate mode when you use the windshield washer or go into reverse.. prevents fumes from entering the car. There is also tons or room for a car this size, and a 16 cubic ft trunk
The Wolfsburg
My wife picked it out and she is the primary driver. Bought the car new in Miami, Florida. This is the daily commuter car (15 miles each way) and for vacations. I know there are reviews out there about many issues with the Wolfsburg Edition VW, but I have not had any problems with this car. Average about 30-32 mpg interstate, 22-25 mpg around town. The car is 11 years old and has 144K on it. My wife and I looked at several cars, but we left because she really didn't find anything she liked better. We have a BMW that is nicer, but also about twice the price of this one. I like the seats, the car is peppy and really moves if you step on it. Oh and everything works. Everything, I replaced a headlight 2 years ago and have routine maintenance on it. We use the full synthetic oil as well. We have decided next year the son will take it off to college in Orlando and I don't have any qualms about sending him off to school in this car. I hope this helps.
Noisy Engine - Test Drive Carefully!
The 2.0Tsi engine has a known "popping sound" at between 2000 and 3000 RPM. Many owners complain of the noise during acceleration, sounds like "pop rocks in a can" - I thought it sounded like engine knocking. VW confirms it is the wastegate on the turbo, but says it is normal. Along with the noise, I find it annoying that they have known about the noise for at least three years yet have not fixed it. Test drive with a purpose and make sure you can stand the noise before buying, because you are stuck with it once you take the keys.
2010 Jetta LE 1 Month review
Have had this car for 1 month. I quite like it for the price; I turned out around $23k for the LE with sunroof and a few other extras. A friend told me the Jetta was a "poor man's BMW." Well, I used to own a BMW 3-series, and overall value for the VW has impressed me so far. For slightly over half the BMW price I have a German car...granted built in Mexico...but a good solid feel and ride. Decent power, and cruises the freeway at 90 mph quite well. Some reviews mention poor braking--I don't get that impression. Also, some other reviews mention engine noise; I don't find it "noisy" at all...a little growl that I kinda like.
Clutch failed at 20k miles
At 20k miles, the clutch completely burned up. Smoke, burning smell, the whole deal. VW says the clutch is a "wear and tear" item, like tires or brakes, and thus it is not covered under my 3 yr/36k "worry free" new car warranty. The repair cost quoted by the dealer is $2400. I am an experienced manual driver and have never burned out a clutch before. My previous Jetta (1998) went over 160k on the original clutch before I traded it in. But, VW insists this is caused by the driver and not the part. I actually really loved this car until the clutch failed. But after having that happen, I'm not sure I could buy another one.
Great car
I personally don't have an issue with this car. I upgraded from a 2003 vw golf 2.0 which was a great car but lacked power. I love my 2010 2.5 jetta. I have over 76,000 miles on it, car has never given me a problem. Its not the top of the line model but I'm fine the engine, powerful enough for me. **Note** there was an engine software upgrade for the gas mileage... from personal experience the car has good gas mileage but I honestly think I had better gas mileage before the software update, I was getting well over 400miles before and now after its more 350-370miles in the city. HWY I can go from VA BEACH to waterbury CT on one tank of gas. 451 miles doing 70-75mph. I'm not complaining.
LOVE the car!
i really love this car! it is my first one, and i absolutely adore it. learning to drive between a punchy audi and a huge suburban, this is the perfect car for me. it is a great size, its super nice looking, and its a very smooth ride.
ALWAYS TROUBLE BYPASS THIS CAR!
The day after I bought the car the passenger seat got stuck laying flat (my daughter was laying down for 5 minutes while I went into the bank). The electrical system continually goes bad and the car will not start. 2 years in I had to replace the air conditioner. The trunk broke two weeks after I bought the car. I back the car up out of the driveway and it continually stalls out. The oil light never comes on even if the oil is low. I have to replace the headlights and back lights every other month. The Dealership is horrific and I never go there because I am treated so poorly. I pray everyday for something to not go wrong with this car, because it seemingly does.

Worst experience ever
This car was nothing but trouble starting at about 4,000 miles. Had I known the Lemon Law existed, it would have qualified and I wouldn't have wasted thousands of dollars on a car that is worthless and countless repairs. I was informed by a dealership GM when I traded in my car that VW does about 70+% of their business through lease because they are known to have so many problems. Problems included radio malfunction, faulty light sensors, sunroof malfunction, lock malfunction, keyless entry malfunction, faulty fan sensor (killing the battery), faulty fuse panel, faulty ignition (burning spark plugs and very dangerous), rough starts, faulty alternator, engine stalling, and Bluetooth lawsuit.
Would Buy It Again
Love this car, great value, great car!! I have had no problems. My first VW. I say anyone looking in this price range check it out!
Check out your dealer first
This is my first vw and it's hard to say if it will be my last. The car seems to drive well and the seats are just Ok for comfort. The iPod connection is supposed to control and charge the iPod as per the salesman. Well, this connection only works on the the old ipods. Funny this is a new car and it works on all equipment. The dealer will do nothing even though they lied to me about its equipment. After I purchased the car they spent about 5 minutes explaining everything. After returning home I noticed a scatch on the dashboard. I then called the manager of O'Brien autogroup and he said I should have noticed it before I signed on the dotted line. In other words you are out of luck.
Update - clutch failed at 20k miles
I tried to add this as a comment to my previous review, but the site was not cooperating. But, I would be remiss not to provide an update on the resolution. VW did agree to pay for the repair as a courtesy, acknowledging that it was an unexpected failure to have it happen so soon. I must admit I was pretty shocked when they told me that, but pleasantly so. While I am still disappointed that the clutch failed so soon, I must applaud VW for doing right by me and standing by the car.
Love it-Hate it
Have positive & negative reviews on 2010 Jetta 2.5T. Check engine light stays on...local dealer states it appears to be a pinhole sized emissions leak... They think...I gave chosen to not repair due to costs involved & no emission requirements in my state.
Improvement since 2009!
The interior of the 2010 Jetta has improved significantly over the 09 and previous models. The SE now have a standard touch-screen radio with satellite radio. The instrument panel is now white-backlit instead of the blue lit seen in previous versions that was hard to see. You will also notice the fuel economy has improved with 24 / 30 rating. So far, I am very pleased with my purchase!
Just Don’t Mess the Car Up
The car is perfect for a first car. It’s a bit outdated now, but it’s a nice car to get you to where you need to be. Easy to take care of, fast, reliable if you do right by it. Can get pricey when replacing things in the car (like axials, alignments, parts, etc.) Take care of the car, and it’ll take care of you. Good luck!

I am a VW driver forever!
I love the car--it's spunky and reliable. I get better mileage than advertised: 28-33 mpg. It's VERY well built! Makes me happy to drive it. I love my VW! And the dealer was great to work with me, great price, great interest rate, excellent trade in and upgrades.
Never owned german car
I bought my first German car and did not know what to expect. I am very surprised. The handling is outstanding, the color which is new is beautiful. The car is solid and handles like a dream. It has the no maintenance for 3 years which will save me money. If you can't afford a BMW this is a good choice.
Get one.
My first foreign car and now I'm a VW fan. Don't listen to others just test drive one for yourself.
Love the 2010 Jetta 2.5!!!!
Great power. A lot of pep and go. We have had great longevity with this car! Just keep up with maintenance and it will last a long time.

Lesson learned
This car was fun to drive once you were moving. The DSG transmission was jerky and sometimes would scare the daylights out of us because it was clunk when downshifting. The interior smelled funny from the day we bought it until the day we traded it in. The VW dealer said this is the proper operation of the car. As far as the smell, the dealer did an AC service to "clean" the system months after getting it and then it smelled like cleaner - which was better than the other smell. Once the cleaner smell started to fade the original smell was returning. Very unhappy - would never buy another VW again.
So far so good
I bought a 2010 Jetta S about a month ago and I enjoy driving so far. Driving is not as smooth as 2010 Camry but I prefer this design to Toyota or Honda cars. The car is also slim, which makes it easy to park in my narrow garage. The car has a weight to it which I like. Even the doors and trunk are heavier than Toyota cars, which makes it safer. Overall, it is a very safe and fun car. I wish I had gotten SE instead of S. S has cloth seats and I prefer leatherlike seats and an upgraded interior touch screen.
A Lot of Car For Your Money!
I have owned this car for about 2 weeks ago and I've been really enjoying it. I had a Hyundai Sonata SE V6 before this and the gas mileage was pretty dismal (around 22 mpg combined). Now with this car I am getting about 30 mpg combined which really benefits as gas prices are going up and my commute got longer. The ride is comfortable even for a sports suspension. Going over rocks or bumps doesn't rattle the car, it stays sturdy. The car is fast, that is for sure. The 200 horsepower direct injection 2.0 L turbo engine is outstanding and it really takes off at about 2,000 rpm. The interior is very well laid out, seems like a much more expensive car inside. Get out and look at this car!
Really great daily driver!
We bought our 2010 Jetta brand new in 2009. It was so sporty! took corners really well, plenty of power, great steering. I absolutely LOVED the interior- soft touch materials and everything fit together really well. The controls were super easy to use, and the seats were great. Our Jetta got upwards of 35 MPG on the highway. Got lots of compliments on the car- it was black with 19" alloys. Other than routine maintenance, it held up VERY well. The only thing to go wrong was a seal on the door that failed. Got it re-glued and that was ok. The other issue was that while going through a car wash, the guy drying the car wiped the "Jetta" letters right off the back. I'd recommend it! :)
2010 VW Jetta SE
I am leasing a 2010 Jetta SE sedan with the 5sp manual. Manual provides a little more control and makes the car more fun to drive. Great interior design and finish, though the headrests get complaints from my wife. Sporty drive and solid feel on the road.
2010 Jetta LE
Bought this car to replace my 2000 Jetta GLS. The 5-cylinder engine is very smooth and has plenty of power, especially above 3000 RPM. The 5-speed in this car is light years ahead of the 5-speed in my old Jetta, in terms of shift feel. The car, for the money, really is beautiful inside and out. Very high-quality, well designed interior, nice paint and tight panel gaps on the outside. Lots of features you won't get on any other car in this class, like auto up-down windows on every window, nice switchblade key fobs, standard heated seats. I really love this car.
Great buy
I baught this car in 2019 with 85k miles on it. I drive for lyft&uber . I put 50k miles in one year and not a single repair.

Great bargain german vehicle
I am pleasantly shocked at how much I like this car. I am coming out of a high power sport sedan and thought I would miss the power and handling. However, the Jetta handles as well as any of the three BMWs I have owned - almost as good as my M5. Torque steer is nonexistent. Pickup in sport mode is very good for an in-line 5 cylinder. I actually preferred the performance of the SE to the Wolfsberg edition (Turbo 4 and DSG tranny). I am very pleased at the performance results for such an affordable car. Interior build is pretty good. The touch screen audio controls make the interior pop. I wish it had more creature comforts, but for the money, I cannot complain.
First Time Volkswagen Owner
1st time owner of a VW product and I am satisfied so far. The first 2 noticeable advantages I have experienced have been the excellent handling on the road and the precise braking. The visibility from this car is great - I feel I am sitting in an SUV instead of a compact car.
Great car, not great fuel economy
Bought this car at a used car sale by our credit union. Had no intention of buying a Jetta but took a test drive and I was sold. My previous car was a Volvo S60, before an A4, so I was used to a European car. The Jetta was a lot less expensive than the Volvo or the Audi but the ride was comparable. I owned this car for about 18 months before moving to a VW Tiguan but had no problems with it.
Love this car
I love this car! 2010 jetta wolfsburg preforms and handles awesome! Gas milage is average for this class and design is on point! I love the touchscreen that comes standard on the wolfsburg and the new interior redesign for 2010 is amazing. I really preferred this model over the 2011 ( felt cheap and like they cut LOTS of corners to get the price down). This is my second jetta, so I know the german cars require maintenance to be able to last ( like all good things) but I don't mind it for the driving experience. Great Job VW!
German sports sedan at a very good price
I was in the market for a used Audi/BMW but I decided to buy a new Wolfsburg Jetta instead. I have to say that I am not disappointed in the decision because the car is very fun to drive. The shifting action with the manual is very clean and precise. The engine makes a lot of power when you stomp on the gas or you can make it conserve fuel if you baby the accelerator and keep a conservative shift pattern. Coming from an economy car, this Jetta feels very tight when going around corners or merging into traffic. I do have a few gripes. The sunroof even when closed is very noisy at highway speeds. There also does not seem to be a lot of storage space.
Did not like overall
I was very dissapointed in the car, it was a demo when I bought it with less than 10,000 miles but still in perfect condition and the price was acceptable but right away it started over heating and had electronic & ignition problems, I was not getting the gas mileage I should have and it completely shut down one time and left me stranded while out of town. repairs were made but still had electronic issues to date, This was my first Volkswagen purchase and I was not impressed at all, I recently traded the car in at a loss just to get rid of this headache machine.
Head of the Class
This is our 3rd new Jetta ('04, '06, '10) in what I am sure is a long list of more to come. All you have to do is shop the competition in this price-point (we paid just over $22k) to realize that there is no competition in this price-point. The German styling, euro-inspired handling and performance, and refined interior make you feel like you are driving in a car worth twice the price. One word of caution...if you feel the urge to "shop around" before deciding to buy, make the Jetta last on your list, otherwise it won't be fair to the others :)
Overall a good buy
A few things that bugs me about the new jettas is the fact they are down grading materials like toyota and honda for example rear drum brakes whats up with that thats what id expect from civic or a corolla not a VW it came standerd all wheel disc breaks up in till now and the premium feel of the dash gone now hard plastic cheper cloth unless you upgrade whats up with that "you get what you pay for."
Well I buy vw again! Well we well see.
Great car fast reliable but vw has shown that they can't be trusted.Hope in up coming months they prove to me they can be trusted

Great Car...Engine noise when cold
Previously have driven the Passat since 2003. Lease every 2 years. First experience with the Jetta. When starting from cold, annoying engine noise until motor warms up. Usually only last for 15 seconds or so...but very noticeable. Dealer tells me the oil needs to get into the lifters b4 noise will go away. Haven't found any recalls or so regarding this condition. Miss the 2.0 turbo. What a treat to drive that engine. Perfect fit for the VW line.
My firs lease
Have had the vehicle for one week. Rides smooth. Handles well in heavy rain. This a first time leasing, I feel comfortable with it.
What a bargain
I was dissatisfied with my 09 Accord Coupe 4cyl-auto and wow what a surprise the Jetta Wolfsburg turned out to be. Excellent performance from a 4cyl. engine and very good fuel economy as well. The fit and finish is well above average for this price class vehicle. The sport suspension is firm, but not overly so. The leatherette seats are supportive both around town and on longer trips. The appearance of the interior suggests a much more expensive vehicle. Throw in a roomy trunk and fold down rear seats, I don't know what more you can ask.
Another happy customer...
I bought my 2010 Jetta about a week ago so it's still very new, but I absolutely love it! It handles very well and is a very smooth ride. The interior is spacious and standard features (including heated front seats, heated rear-view mirrors, and digital dash display) are convenient. The only issue I've had is that the gas gap is very sensitive and you have to really tighten it otherwise the engine light will come on. Other than that, I am thrilled with my VW! Would definitely recommend this car to friends and family.
U can take it to the bank!
What a car! My girlfriend's BMW and my VW are almost the same. Honestly I couldn't beleive it myself. I have to say my girlfriends car is three years older than mine. I couldn't be more happy with the Jetta. It has the power of a sports car, the handling of a luxuray car and the price speaks for itself. I read the reveiws and a couple of the neg. feedback contradict themselfves. I don't know of many cars that hold their value like the jetta. One person comiplained of repair cost mind you VW agreed to share after their warranty expired. I have not owned a better car for the price. My next car will be a new VW Jetta. I drove from NYC to Florida for 90 dollars. Five Star car no doubt. A steal!
Love it!!
I love my Jetta, I bought it used with 50,000 miles, Its fun to drive and so far great on Gas! I have only had it for a week. So far so good!! I'm very happy with it.
Great durable car
Excellent runner. Maintenance, such as brakes, seems a bit pricey. Otherwise solid.

I love this car
This is my wife's car. We test drove the SE, TDI and Wolfsburg. Wolfsburg won hands down. This car handles very nicely with the sport suspension. It's a tad rougher ride than the rest of the pack, but the performance is much better. The seats are very comfortable, the sound system is excellent. The DSG transmission shifts gears much faster than you could with a manual. 2000 miles so far. To me this car is like buying a BMW for half price. It's that good.
Great Jetta!
I've had my Jetta for almost two years and close to 40,000 miles. I have yet to pay for an oil change or other maintenance and have had absolutely no problems or complaints with the vehicle. Thus far, it has been far cheaper and more fun to own than the 2007 Honda Civic it replaced. Although I have a DSG service coming up, VW has provided me with the expense in advance, as well as a maintenance/oil change schedule and pricing of every service needed. I am very very pleased with this car, the reliability, comfort, style and feel. I would definitely recommend this car to a friend.
