Used 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Consumer Reviews
Bought it for Milage - Wow with extras
I researched my purchase for a long time. I wanted something that would not hold me hostage on gas price changes every other day. The TDI has been the answer. Its mileage has always been over 43 mpg (mostly city) and I can easily get over 600 miles on tank refills. The suprises for me were the comfort level (package 2), quiet ride, and fit quality ended up being much better than I expected. Throw in a quality dealer and this is one of the best vehicles in my 40 plus years of ownership.
2006 Jetta TDI -- Best car purchase ever
At the time of purchase in August 2006, ours was one of only 3 remaining Package One models in the area equipped with the 6-speed automatic. The EPA highway mileage rating is 42 mpg, but our best ever was over 48! Though the 1.9 L turbo diesel is rated at only 100 horsepower, it feels to have every bit as much "get up and go" as our 2003 Passat with all that inherent diesel torque. The transmission is flawless and with all of those gears, it knows precisely when and where it needs to shift. The car attracts a fair amount of attention in terms of it's refined German styling and it's a hoot to drive. The German designers tend to build in a firm ride - not soft or spongy. 40,000 mi. no problems.

GLI All the Way
If you don't know about the the 2.0T FSI engine, then you need to do your reseach and see what you have been missing out on. You'll pay a few more pennies but the fun it puts back into driving will make all the difference. I haven't let the wife drive it yet after she peeled out of the dealership in the test drive vehicle.
faulty headliners
We own this vehicle..I would not buy another..one month out of warranty with 20,000 miles on it the headliner started pulling off. Went to dealer, they stated they would order a new one. well 8 weeks later and now they won't return our calls. Stopped by and we were told they couldn't see were one was ever ordered. They should have been up front and stated sorry can't do anything about it. Honda does courtesy warranties on stuff like this. No more VW for us. We are in our 50's and our cars are very well taken care of. This is unacceptable. They have a problem with their headliners falling down..
My Vdubb
Well, I just got my Jetta a week ago! Evrything is great on the car from the interior to the exterior to the build quality. I already have to take it in for the alignment (VW said no problem they will handle it)! Something went wrong with the CD player but that's a small fix! I have the navigation system and love it! I don't know why some others don't like it, but it works great for me. All in all, it's a great car!
