Used 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Consumer Reviews
Never buy a VW Again!
Car had problems from day one. Engine noise etc. Cheap made switches. This was my forth VW and last. Worst customer service in the industry. $89 oil change is ubsurd for a VW.
Problems with 2006 Jetta
Bought this car brand new from the dealership and had no problems until the warranty period was expiring. Had several major parts replaced under warranty. Main seal leak in engine. Main wiring harness in drivers door caused major electrical problems. Headliner is falling down and interior buttons on radio are peeling.

WOW
I just got this Jetta after owning an Audi A4. It handles better, the pickup is better, and so too is the fuel economy. With the new body style, you no longer feel like you are driving around in your little brother's car. This is an amazing car. The interior is plush and well thought out, and the exterior is sleek and refined. My only advice would be to be sure to spring for the 2.0T engine. While the other styles do offer ample power, the 2.0T really gives you excellent go power. I will never buy another Audi again, not because they aren't wonderful too...but because the only thing missing from the VW is the five rings on the front...oh, and the larger pricetag.
Drive one
An excellent vehicle. Averages 44+ MPG in all around use, and over 50 MPG on the highway at 75 MPH.
Love my Jetta
Purchased my Jetta used with approximately 25k miles. I currently have 81,000 miles and the car is still running strong. This car has a very solid feel to it and drives like a more expensive vehicle. I test drove other cars in this class (Civic, Corolla, etc) and the quality of those cars do not compare to that of the Jetta. I do not understand why other owners feel that the Jetta is not very reliable. With proper maintenance, my Jetta has not given me any problems. The cost of doing maintenance at the dealer is high. However, I was able to find a reliable VW/ Audi mechanic in the area who is able to do work for 1/2 the price. A lot less than it would be if I owned a Honda or a Toyota.
