Used 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Consumer Reviews
Fun but not the best quality
Fun to drive bought from my brother with 47k and now have 97k. To date I'm on my 2nd clutch and a new transmission. It died in the driveway once and If I had not bough an extended warranty at 49k -100k, I would be out $3k instead of $1800.00 for the extra insurance. I hope this car would go 250k like my toyota, nissan and honda. Not as tough as the Japanese stuff but more sporting.
Very Happy Owner
I was very suprised at how powerful the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta GLI's engine is a low rpms. I also have a 225 Audi TT and this sedan out performs it. The DSG transmission is amazing with lighting fast shits that no one in a manual could match. I am still not crazy about the tail lights, but everything else outweighs them. I'm sure an aftermarket option will be available. I looked at the Audi A3 and felt the Jetta GLI was a better value since almost everything that was an add on in the A3 was standard or in Pacakage 2 of the Jetta. I've owned two other Jettas and two GTI's and this GLI has everything I've ever wanted in a VW.

All around great car
Some minor interior quality things need to be improved, like the window buttons have started to loose its paint, and homelink transmitter fell off. Over all its a great car. Have not had one bit of problems with it. Doesn't have that great of pick up and go. But has a lot of modification options which I've taken advantage of.
Initial Impression - First 1,000 Miles
I have had my 2006 Volkswagen Jetta GLI for only 17 days, but I have been impressed every day. The car handles extremely well with a firm yet comfortable ride. I have averaged about 28 miles a gallon in combined driving. The only minor quibble I have when driving would be stability in windy driving. I have to do a little more correction than I am use to. This is nothing major, it just was noticable. I came out of a PT Crusier that seemed to ignore strong winds. There have been no initial delivery problems which bodes well for future reliabilty. I smile with anticipation every time I walk up to the car. That's the best endorsement I can give as a driver.
My Love of Jettas
I bought a 2006 Jetta Value Edition after little research. I loved everything I read about the car and was impressed with the safety ratings. I feel comfortable driving me and my little one around town. It is a very smooth ride and has a lot of power for a $20,000 car. The interior is functional and cool to look at. I don't think I will ever get bored driving this car.
