Never Buy This car or a VW Ever

My car is at about 85k and I have had way too many problems with this vehicle. It is by far the worst vehicle I have ever had and I will never buy a VW ever again. I have had to replace the water pump at 62k, the alternator went out, I was just told I needed to replace the catalytic converter, the ect sensor and an addition 2 grand in fixes for a total of 3,200. I had some boots and a cb join that were cracked and leaking that was about 1000 bucks. By far the most unreliable vehicle I have had and hated everything about it. I ripped off the bumper 3 times because it always would catch on the curb because there is no guard on there. Don't buy this car.

I got my black Jetta 1.8T GLS last Friday. It is so much fun to drive and it looks so beautiful. Got the sport luxury package: 17" alloys, sport suspension, and a power sunroof. These cars are built in Mexico, and I don't really trust Mexican quality control. It worries me. The Jetta 1.8T GLS is definitely more bang for the buck than a BMW or Lexus. It's not as nice as those other cars, but I'll be paying off the Jetta in 2 years instead of 5 years for the IS 300. I don't like that the acceleration curve is not very smooth. You have to be careful with all that torque or you are risking whiplash. I also wish it got better gas mileage. (only 22/29)

I Didn't want an SUV but I did want the flexibility to haul whatever I need to. My wife and I chose the manual and BOY does that Turbo have a nice kick to it! Definitely get the Monsoon system too it makes for great road trips. We have had absolutelty zero rattling sounds from this car. Cant understand what was up with the editor's car. We had looked at the Nissan Altima as well but the interior materials do not compare and it drove like a Dodge Intrepid. (Nissan Sentra Spec-V now that's a different matter, but too small) We also looked at the Saturn Wagon which had cheap interior construction and ho-hum looks.

I bought this car because I knew it would lower my insurance and gas bills (coming from SUV) I drive 500 miles a week and my gas bill is $60/month. I have enjoyed my VW a lot, however...Don't park over a parking space bump or curb. I did this 3 separate times (and have finally learned from my mistakes) and it pulled my front bumper off. Just the other day, my passenger side window fell into the wondow pocket and I had to take it to the dealer b/c of a downpour coming. "This happens a lot" the VW rep said. They rigged it, but I have to go back and pay for them to fix it now that I am out of my 25,000 mile warranty.
