2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid
Yes, it is plain jane and no, I'm not going to blow the doors off anybody with his car.
BUT... It gets way better gas mileage than Edmunds reports and that is the TOTAL reason I bought this hybrid. NO, NOT, and NEVER any other reason!
Now the numbers for you. About 2 weeks after I bought this car I took a 400-mile road trip. My MPG measurement on the car at the end of the trip read … clearly... 60.0 MPG! That was on a freeway cruising at a 75 mph which is when a hybrid is supposed to deliver a lower gas mileage than in stop-and-go city driving.
I have checked my auto mpg measurements against calculated measurements and they are always within one-tenth mpg.
I reset my auto mpg measurement once a month... one period the car averaged 61.7mpg for combined driving. It always measures 55 mpg or better.
This beats any claim for any non-plugin Prius and, by far, any Kia or Honda.
I bought this car for exactly what it does. It goes a long way on very little gas. When I fill my tank, the range indicator generally shows me I can travel 600 or more miles. Take that, Tesla.
