2020 Subaru Forester
We decided on the silver, premium because it had the features and cloth seats we wanted. It was an easy transaction as the first SUV's coming to the lot were very close to what we were looking for. It went for 28,500 through Costco plus added options 2,100 - additional programmed key, body side moldings, outside auto dimming mirrors, fog lamp kit, rear bumper cover, and trailer hitch - … plus taxes. This is our first Subaru, and it drives just like the 2019's; very comfortable and smooth driving. The auto start-stop and land departure features take a little getting used to; more later. There are so many features that it will take a while to learn them. So far, everything works and we really like the SUV. We'll update this review as we learn more about and experience how this SUV drives.
12/28/2019 Update: After driving this on a road trip to Yellowstone and around the city for a couple months, I can say that I really like how it drives; handling, great turning circle. MPG and pretty good acceleration. I didn't think I'd like the start/stop feature, but you get used to it and it's not bad. One trick is, if you sense that the stop will be short, you can stop with light pressure and the engine won't turn off. If it is a longer stop, then heaver pressure will usually stop the engine. On the MPG, I've done several accurate tests (dividing miles driven by the gas filled) and found that the car indicates about 1.5 - 2 MPG higher than my calculations. I did buy the base stereo system and the speakers are pretty crappy. I did buy modest upgrade speakers for the driver/passenger doors and it was a pretty easy upgrade and much nicer sound. One problem being investigated is, my FOB gives error beeps only when entering the driver's door and won't let me in; I have to enter the passenger side and open the driver's door. I'll update later. Overall, I still would buy this Forester again.
