2001 Toyota Sequoia Limited 4wd

Bought my Toyota and it already had 80K miles on it. I used it to tow my G35 coupe on a car hauler from Michigan to California. Probably was approaching the max tow capacity of the Toyota but it pulled through like a champ. Even through the mountains of Colorado it pulled fine. It is a great drive and very comfortable as well as roomy. Tremendous quality and peace of mind with this vehicle as I would expect from Toyota, particularly in the fit and finish. No rattles, no funny noises of any kind. At over 90K miles it drives like new. I would buy a Sequoia with 100K+ miles on it before a new domestic any day... very unfortunate for the American companies.

Overall, we love our Sequoia!

In 2 years of ownership, we have had no major problems. It carries our family of 5 plus a ton of luggage w/o breaking a sweat. We love the huge moonroof, the 6 CD in-dash changer, the power of the 4.7 L V-8. We have taken it down dusty desert trails to visit ghost towns and up mountain paths w/o so much as a hiccup. There are a few gripes, however - the tail gate refused to open not long after we bought it and we could hear broken parts rattling around inside. The transmission sometimes clunks when we're at a stoplight and it feels like we've been bumped from behind. Both rear passenger doors refuse to stay open on even the slightest incline, and the rear cubby hatch cover pops open.

Bought this SUV new in 2001. Traded in a 4 Runner. Now have nearly 100M miles. We have had no mechanical problems of any kind. Great Vacation Car. Great Car for hauling kids stuff to college. The highway comfort and ride is the best I have experienced in any vehicle. It is large for hauling stuff but there is no bouncing or truck like handling. No rust, no rattles, steering and brakes still solid after nearly 10 years. We don't drive off road, but the Sequoia is great in the snow here in Chicago. Good speed and acceleration for highway passing. Mileage is superb for a vehicle this size. Better than our Acura MDX and friend's Explorer.

2001 Sequoia Quality

My 2001 4WD Sequoia has 110K miles and is driven in town by a soccer mom who does not go off road. So far these parts have failed: both front wheel bearings, the rear differential, rear window motor, LF window motor, A/C (compressor, evaporator, and something else- been to dealer 5 times for a/c problems). Engine has had oil replaced every 4K miles and has a knock in it. All failures due to faulty parts. I am thankful I invested in the platnum 0 ded bumper-bumper 100K mile warranty. The driver side seat is designed to wear a hole in the side (90K miles) from getting in/out. Gas mileage avg 12-18 mpg. Toyota Corp customer service not helpful. No problems since last major repair ~80K mi

Just an average SUV, with some annoying issues, like brakes that need replacement too often, doors that won't stay open and a poor speaker system, lack of ease when trying to get to the rear seats
