Disappointed
I have owned a 2010 Prius V for six months. At first I was pleased with the vehicle, especially with the MPG when compared to my 2000 Lexus RX300. After six months of ownership several issues have arisen; braking issues (regenerative brakes slip when navigating over a bumpy road or pothole), constant rattling while driving emanating from the passenger side windows and a disappointing 37.5 average MPG in the city. Although I am not expecting 50 MPG as is advertised, 37.5 is well below what I anticipated. Granted, I live in a very hilly city, but I am not a speed demon nor do I have a heavy accelerator foot. The only advantage I foresee is the reduction in the production of smog.
Great Car
I bought the car to reduce travel expenses and I am electrical engineer and love the technology. I was pleased with how quiet and comfortable the car was on the road. The car has plenty of room and is very usable with the hatch and fold down seats. I get in the mid 50s in warm weather and mid 40s in the cold weather. The power is adequate for most driving.

Happy owner
This is my third Prius, and it is the finest car I've ever owned! I've none of the complaints I've seen in other reviews. My car has undercoating, and is very quiet in town and on the road. The sound system is superb. I've just completed a 1500 mile trip, mainly on interstates -- and the mileage indicator reads 60.0 mpg! And this is pretty much confirmed by the rough check of miles between fill ups, and amount of fuel added. The main reason for purchasing this model was the solar powered ventilating system when parked in the sun, a real plus in the South.
I love my Prius, too!
Bought my 2010 Prius (my first Toyota) to replace my 2003 Altima (with 280,000 miles!). I am impressed with how brilliant its design philosophy is, and, of course, the amazing fuel economy (53 m.p.g. actual average over the first 10,000 miles). I love driving it, I feel more relaxed and no longer "sweat" traffic jams and red lights as much as before. Compared to the Altima I am saving ~$40/week at the current fuel prices. I think I will always buy hybrid cars from now on!
Disappointed
We just completed a 4200 mile trip in our new Prius. We drove the speed limit, and had the car in eco mode the whole time. We averaged 44 mpg. Needless to say, we were not happy with the mileage. The car rides well, but the road noise is almost unbearable on some road surfaces. The fit and finish is good, but the quality of the materials seems to be a little on the cheap side. The outer door panels flex when you close the doors. The plastic wheel covers over the allows don't help. When we limit our driving to in town driving with short trips on the road or freeway, we average 49 mpg. The car seems to be overpriced for the features offered.
