Great Experience and Value.
I was originally in the market for an XSE Premium for the creature comforts, but sparse inventory and dealer markups lead to getting an XSE. I'm happy with it either way. Acceleration is good in both EV and hybrid mode (it has more oomph in HV mode), plus the steering feels solid for the type of vehicle it is. Braking is also solid with smooth yet firm enough input. I usually get around 50 miles of electric range with how I drive. Changing the drive mode to Sport makes braking and steering slightly heavier with acceleration being a little more sensitive. The tires absorb small bumps well for the kind of vehicle it is. Visibility out of the front and sides is great but the rear view is somewhat small. It's not a big issue for me since I don't frequently have rear passengers or that much cargo, but I would've opted for an XSE Premium with the Digital Rearview Mirror if I anticipated as much. The multi-information display is for the most part clear and prominent, though I had to adjust the steering wheel down some to see it. Seating's good for the segment. I'm 5'10½" and can comfortably sit in the front seats with my desired position. Rear seating is a little snug but comfortable to me; I can fit a hand between the top of my head and the ceiling. You can sort of stretch your legs, but don't expect much. Those who are taller or have bigger hairstyles should stick to the front. Storage is pretty good. The tray in the middle can be lifted for additional room and the center console is decent for the vehicle's size. The cup holders in the front and rear can hold a 20oz YETI Travel Mug without issue. There's also a bottle holder on each door that can hold a 22fl oz Arizona tea can. The cargo area can hold up to two full-size suitcases side by side with the seats up, and the floor flap can be lifted to show storage for the included charging cable and some small tools. All in all I'm happy with this purchase. The pros greatly outweigh the cons and though I didn't get a top trim model, those features were to me optional at best and didn't hinder my driving experience. I also saved a couple thousand dollars in the process.

Too little, too late
Firstly, there are hardly any Prius or Prius Primes at dealerships in the LA area. Those few that are available are being offered at obscene premiums. Currently, with available rebates, I can buy a Tesla for less than a Prius Prime. Even when Prius delivery problems are solved, updated Model 3 and Y’s will be far more inviting to me to buy. The updates for the Model 3 will be arriving in the third quarter. The Model Y is already basically updated. The Model 3 Long Range gets an EPA range of 330 miles. The super charging network in CA. Is outstanding. I comparison, the Prime gets an electric increase of about 39 miles for the XSE. It doesn’t have the updated software or infotainment system that the Tesla have now or will shortly have. It also charges slowly. So, why should I buy a Prius?
