I bought the LE trim at the end of October-great quality of Toyota of course. Acceleration is a total joke-that launch gear blows [non-permissible content removed]-feels like you are going to stall out when you floor it. Engine way to small for this vehicle-gas mileage no good either. I traded it in on a Venza-this blows the Cross out of the water-not much in price either. Save yourself some time and order a Venza or a RAV 4.

Adequate but Overpriced

Wanting a small SUV but not being a Rav 4 fan the Corolla Cross caught my eye. Upgrading to get some features like heated seats & cargo mats cost over $40,000. At this point I would say not worth it. Cons-right off I can’t stand the radar cruise control. In fact, it dangerous to use on a freeway as it picks up vehicles in the lanes next to you & sounds alarms hitting the brakes! Not good. Also I noticed my brakes needed replaced quickly & was trying to figure out why. I experimented & stopped using cruise on downhills. I have great brake life now. The AWD function is annoying on all counts as it engages/disengages based on outside temps. So when the roads are clear but 35 degrees you are in full blown 4wd even when you don’t need it. Snowy/slushy roads at say 39 degrees you want that 4wheel engaged because conditions warrant it but you are just at the mercy of temperature!! Who designed that. Full 4wd greatly decreases fuel mileage too. At 2 years old I’ve already had 2 sensors go out & had to deal with those stressful headaches! The sensor goes out and it triggers several systems to malfunction & it makes the AWD feature disabled. Pretty dangerous especially in winter driving conditions & relying on AWD. CVT system is virtually gutless when you are taking off from a stop light. Don’t pull out in front of people it won’t accelerate quickly. But once going I have no issues with increasing or decreasing speed. The huge screen that sticks up above dash is ultra annoying & a complete distraction….I really don’t use it. Dangerous-especially concerning kids is the automatic lift gate. There are sensors on this car everywhere but not on the automatic lift gate it literally closed on me as I was curious of the safety. This is ridiculous & dangerous & I’m always on high alert with my kids. Back seat is for short skinny people or kids. Car seats don’t really work. I’m 5’3” & pull my drivers seat up & the car seat is tight. A booster seat is better. Windshield was super cheap & I had to replace it within 6 months of owning it. Winter driving is a pain because the front sensors get caked with snow/slush/ice & start going off & keep going off until you pull over & clean them off. Not so great in between where you actually going. The fog lights are a joke on this vehicle & don’t improve visibility or add enhanced light in foggy conditions. I would say they are cosmetic at best & in winter snow/ice/slush pack on them during driving making them useless until you stop & clean out. From day one I thought the seats were terribly uncomfortable but I guess you get used to it. Vehicle recall happened & the techs had to remove steering column & dash to get to minor issue. Couldn’t get steering column back together & had to keep my car another week & order parts. Pros- car handles good & steering is light. I like the looks of the car & for 1-2 people there’s enough room. Surprised me with really good all terrain tires that run $1200 plus for the set how well it does in winter snow. I would say the tires make a huge difference here. I do like the ability to put the vehicle into manual shifting in dangerous slick or mountain road conditions. Seat heater & vehicle heater are better than expected. One thing that surprised me is the compression effect this little suv has when I let off the gas. It will immediately begin to reduce speed even on a steep mountain pass grade downhill. This also gives my brakes longer life. Decent little vehicle and I do like it enough but through everything now would have never paid the price I did.

Backing up grinding noise on sharp turn

Have been to Toyota twice with same issue. Loud grinding noise on backing up with sharp turn. They cant find anything wrong. First blamed me having it oiled. But the oiling company says no way. Now I have videoed the noise so will take it to them. Seems to be coming from the driver wheel only
