This is my first hybrid. I choose it because I am 6'-3" tall, 250 lbs and although I like small cars, I have a long commute and wanted something comfortable to drive. I can honestly say I am always impressed when I drive this car. I drive 170 miles a day so the miles add up quickly. I consistently achieve between 38 and 40 MPG. I have kept gas receipts since new and have now mastered how to achieve that mileage daily. The hybrid system is fantastic. The system engages frequently until 40 mph and then it is gas only above 40 to 45 mph. So in town driving increases gas mileage above 40 mpg. Traffic jams are a breeze as the system regenerated upon braking. The electric AC compressor is fantastic (there is no fan belt) so running the AC in electric only mode is unnoticeable and does not suck up all the juice. Eco mode reduces the amount of electricity consumed and I use it all the time. It helps increase the mileage. It cycles the AC a little slower but I live in Texas where it is really, really hot. The system works great. I now have over 37,000 miles on the car and I have not had one issue! Not even a squeak or rattle. Only regular oil changes and frequent tire rotation as you should do on any car. Now to the meat and potatoes....the battery. I have read many posts but I know when the time comes (and it will) to change the battery, I am not worried. Toyota has so many of these cars on the road (including tons of taxis:Chicago) that a battery swap is a 2 hour ordeal. Check you tube and you will see how simple it really is. Secondary battery (non-toyota) manufacturers (Dorman Products) are refurbishing the packs and the general cost is under $2,300 now with a core exchange. A handy homeowner can do this themselves. Many hybrid shops have now popped up in major cities that now offer quick replacement or battery diagnostic services. Additionally, major retailers such as Napa Auto Parts and others can order you the pack which as of 2016 is between $1,800 and $2,300. Think about this...I have taken many cars to the shop for repairs (which I could not do myself) and walked out with a $1,500 bill. Going to Toyota and asking for a new battery pack is just plain STUPID! A $0.59 screw at Auto Zone costs $7.50 at Toyota! Any reputable mechanic can do this simple battery swap. Also, I have read some posts about the brakes. Regenerative brakes work different than regular brakes. Simply put, an additional "zone" is built into the pedal. The first 1/4" push on the pedal is for the regenerative process. The other 3/4 is for regular braking. Any hybrid has this system. Getting used to it takes a day or two. After that, it becomes intuitive. The brakes on my car are excellent. When the time comes to brake, they grab hard and stop the car well. The rest of the car is standard Toyota Camry stuff. You can read about that on the regular Camry reviews. I am absolutely thrilled with this car. I bought it at the right price and time (November) so I have already recouped some of my investment. I would definitely buy another one now that I understand how they truly work. And they are also FAST. The electric motor kicks in when needed for extra power such as up a highway ramp and such. This is probably the most underrated "sleeper" car in existence because Toyota wants to sell you a Prius. Do yourself a favor. Pick the Camry over the Prius. Larger, safer car. More comfortable. Easier battery swap. I'll give up the extra 8 mpg for that any day.

After over 7 years & 40,000 local miles, continues to be a solid and reliable car. Cosmetically, holding up very well. Only issue is the ride, which is uncomfortable on longer trips...hard seat bottom. I hear the newer models have a more compliant ride. My wife drives this car mainly around town. She has a very heavy foot...on the gas, off the gas. Averaging 32 mpg after 28,000 miles. When I drive it on trips, I get much better mileage, over 40mp. Even though its over 3 years old, it feels, looks and drives like new. g. I'm pretty tall and large (6'2", 240 lbs), but this car fits me extremely well (no sunroof, thankfully). Electronic steering assist does not give great feedback, but it surprisingly makes the front wheel drive feel very solid and absolutely neutral...no FWD steering torque. Engines' integration is absolutely flawless and the transmission is seamless. My only issue is the ride...its pretty taught...not Mercedes taught, but harsher than that. I attribute it to the high air pressures that the tires carry, and which are monitored by the air pressure monitoring devices. I may disable them and drive the tires with a few less pounds. This is a very competent, solid car and is a screaming value. Would I buy it again? Absolutely! 2022...still a great car! Probably the last car my wife will ever own...by her choice!

Look the dayI bought this car I test drove an Avalon nice fast. But it was out of my range went to the used car side. I wanted a sunroof so I test drove a 2012 regular Camry XLE 40k on it it was beat up a tad I could tell looking at the radio pushed it acceleration sucked. But before I drove the regular Camry this pretty blue caught my eye. So there was a white le and then that pretty blue one the white one was a standard white. I really did have my heart set on the hybrid so I go to the pretty blue one it was a hybrid no sunroof but I looked at the mileage just a 2014 certified pre-owned with just under 13k. I couldn't pass it up. I jumped in the car and test drove it. Now mind u I test drove a regular Avalon first and I don't mean like a granny. I pushed it hard. So back to the test drive of the now my pretty blue 2014 Camry Hybrid LE. I got I started driving ummm ok then I hit the gas pedal. Whoosh I was amazed comparing the pickup to the 2012 Camry XLE and the now my 14 hybrid. Night and day mind u I drove the regular Avalon 2015/16 first. I was impressed with the pickup mind u I was ready to walk before I drove this car. I was hooked, no sunroof ok, but certified pre-owned 13k mi. Clean interior a couple of minor nicks teeny tiny the put touch up paint on it. So I bought it, also I'm 56 an old muscle car lover. This car is plenty quick pretty blue chicks dig that. I threw some custom 16" wheels on it didn't want to give up mpg for looks. Now the gas mileage if u drive it right and this is in the summer with the A/C I have gotten averaged 41/42 mpg if I just get a little fun in now and again 38mpg. I was driving early one Sunday morn opened it up shweet. U can drive it on battery up to 50mph here is the trick to getting in in hybrid mode. From a stop accelerate get to just above the speed u want to be let off the gas for a bit and when u see the tire symbol recharging the batt. Press the gas ever so lightly then it will keep the speed u like and run off the batt. Can't wait to see what I get when the weather gets cooler. Now the handling, this thing handles nicely handles curves well turns if need be on a dime. It's not Euro like Porsche handling but u can handle curves well at a pretty good rate of speed. Comfort for me and I'm a tad over 6'1 185 medium to large frame man. For me it's comfortable I Ike the way I can put my head on the head rest and it gives great support. Stereo and mind I this is the base level stereo. I listen to all types of music mainly smooth jazz. I consider myself a pseudo audio file. Stereo is superb I hear sound detail is exceptional. I can't attest to reliability as of yet because of low miles. But I'm not worried because of the Camry reputation. Look this is a 14 gal tank from completely full to that last little notch right before the E I have gotten 535 on a tank of gas. Bottom line like French Fry said choosing this over a Prius especially if you are a big guy is a no brainer jump on it don't hesitate. Also I would urge those considering a 2016/17 XLE LE regular Camry take a step down if need be and get the hybrid I think you will be a lot happier with the pickup and the gas mileage. Yeah I wish I had the sunroof but I'm more than happy with what I got and the price I paid. Lastly I always leave my car in ECO mode and HV mode

Okay, so the front seats could be more supportive, lumbar and laterally. But this car is the smoothest, quietest vehicle I've ever had...seamless...with a surge of torque when you want it...it truly drives like a buttery V6. I love having the drivetrain Lexus deems good enough for the $39000 ES. My 2012 got 38mpg and it was so good I'm now leasing a 2013 so I'm curious to see if the mileage will be exactly the same, should be. Excels in urban traffic 50-65 where you have to slow down a lot, always gets over 40mpg there. Recent trip of 1200 miles got 41mpg. Tires are great, quiet with actually good cornering grip (for a hybrid).

I bought this “family car” new in 2014 and I traded in a “cool car” 2011 BMW 3-Series upon purchase. I could not be happier four years later driving one of the most popular cars on the road. The gas mileage is incredible and it does achieve the EPA estimates. The hybrid system works flawlessly. I was really surprised with the acceleration and driving experience, especially when you are not in eco mode. The stellar Toyota reliability is without question and the hybrid has been no exception to the rule. I have the fully loaded XLE model and the interior is really luxurious. The navigation system is nice, push button start, sunroof, heated seats, all of the expected creature comforts. Toyota puts very high end and comfortable leather in their cars. The silver bezel around the shifter is cheap and scratches easily. Back seat is spacious and fits a car seat nicely. Some items that I wish were available and might be on newer models: dual power seats, memory seating, auto wipers, xenon lights, rear sunshade...I’m grasping for straws here! The smart key acted up a few months ago and apparently it is a common issue where the driver door will not unlock and has to be manually opened...the issue resolved itself after several months. Everything on this car works as it should and it is easy to take for granted. I have considered other cars and in fact bought a Volvo XC90 thinking I wanted more room. Thankfully I did not sell the Camry because I hated the Volvo and sold it after a week of ownership. This is a solid car that will last forever. I have done nothing but put a set of tires on at 40,000 miles and change the oil with synthetic every 7,500. When purchased new, it was pricey at $34,500, but you can find real values in used models. Also with gas at much lower prices and likely never getting back where it once was, I would buy Hybrid only if there is a want to be green, not to recoup a return on your investment through gas savings, as it will take many years to do so.

This is my wife's second Camry Hybrid. She loves the gas mileage, reliability, driveability and comfort. Not a single problem with either of her Camrys. And they hold their value like crazy!

I find little reason to purchase cars like a Camry, Accord, or Civic or Corolla for any other reason but for commuting. They're applicances to achieve a goal of getting from A to B on a regular basis. Why people judge these cars for their roadholding or acceleration numbers is silly, or level of luxury appointments and usage of top shelf materials. I got the car for commuting and it accomplishes that for me with ease, no flash or gust. I've been able to achieve better mpg than what's posted. I could have gotten a Prius or Insight for better mpg's but wanted more comfort and room, and also something that at least resembles a car. It rides comfortably. For the purpose of a commuter car, I can't really flaw the lack of a sporty feel. Compared to its rival, the Accord, I have to say I like the steering feel and more taut suspension in my girlfriend's '15 Accord after driving my Camry. Not a dealbreak for me. On the Camry, I'm not a fan of the lack of steering feel. I hate the brakes (although I'm not sure if this is a hybrid thing or not. but I hate the brake feel). Hard to explain how it feels, for me at least, but it's my biggest gripe. I'm content with driving knowing I'm not spending a ton on gas and I'm not worrying about the car breaking no matter how many miles I pile on. I'm fine blending in with the thousands and thousands of other Camry's on the road. I'm not one to like attention. This car serves a purpose just like a washing machine or refrigerator, and nothing more nor less.

Just bought the 2014 Camry Hybrid with al options. Or most of them. Feels like an electric car, has good acceleration. Very good electronics, including Entune package. Very good gas mileage. Many features, Not cheap, it is expensive. I really can't say quality if great, until some time passes. The little engine and electronic motor perform very well for a small engine. Stiff riding, no sporty feel. Not great in cornering. Compared to our old Camry, it is stiff riding, our old Camry rode much more cushy. Seats are stiff, not as comfortable as they should be.
Great Automobile! Loaded with features!

Overall mpg is fantastic. I've never owned a Hybrid car before and I wasn't ready to go all electric. This car was a welcome treat coming from a large 4-Door BMW sedan that averaged 17mpg TO now averaging 31+ mpg in the Camry. Long trips averaged about 40 mpg! This model is several thousand more than the standard non-hybrid. For those that plan on keeping the car for at least 5-years or longer can probably justify the higher price being off-set by fuel savings - especially when gas starts to climb up again. If you keep your car for only about 3-years or like to lease, than I would not recommend this model due to the higher cost. My lease is up in 5 more months. The car is in excellent shape and will be turned in with less than the maximum mileage limit. However, my purchase option (residual) is higher than the retail prices that I'm seeing right now.

Having driven a 97 Camry for 16 years and loved the smooth ride, I've been very disappointed with the much stiffer suspension in my new 2013 Camry XLE. Why did Toyota think Camry buyers would want to feel every single tiny imperfection in the road? Doesn't make any sense to me. Additionally, the front seat backs curve forward near the top of the seatback, pushing my shoulder blades forward. This has resulted in it being very difficult to find a comfortable driving position. (I'm tall). I love the hybrid drive system. It works wonderfully. I'm routinely getting in the mid to high 40s MPG. It also handles well and has plenty of power.

This CH has all of the pep of a V-6, yet gets 38 MPG. This car is amazing. We got the XLE (Bought New) with every option but the premium nav system. The nav/entune leaves something to be desired. Complaint: You can't enter anything while driving and the voice commands are terrible. The seats are pretty good, but they do get stiff on long drives. Overall, this is an affordable, reliable car that will last you a lifetime. Don't worry about the battery failure, because by the time that happens, you will have saved enough money to pay for it and have plenty left over (They last 250,000+ miles). Save the environment, and save yourself money. Win/win!

Just bought a used 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid - 24k miles. Love the color, the features, the ride, the gas mileage! One odd flaw: for some reason, the driver seat in my very well taken care of pre-owned car is not very comfortable at all! It feels like there is a box under the seat! The cushion just doesn't provide enough comfort - which sucks for me - because I commute about 40 miles one way to work and am stuck in traffic here in Houston more than I'd like. I'm average height and build, so I don't think my size is the issue. The car is a little hard to get used to - hybrids make strange noises that non-hybrids do not! But overall, it rides very smoothly and accelerates like a dream! I'm averaging about 40MPG highway - awesome. I love my new Camry Hybrid - just do NOT think the comfort of the driver's seat is all that great.

Car has performed as advertised for 5 years with no issues, just oil changes, filters and tires. 55,000 miles original brakes, still going strong. Only annoying think is the decal on the shift handle which is wearing off (like to keep my hand there). Car consistently gets 40 mpg, went from northern NJ to Washington DC to Annapolis Maryland and then home on one tank of gas, amazing. Car is very good in snow. The only negative is a small trunk.

A few years ago, I drove a 2013 Toyota Camry LE hybrid as a work vehicle. It was originally used as a taxi that was retired at 150K miles, to then be used for medical transport. I personally put over 200K miles on that vehicle in about 3 years. It only started having issues with the hybrid system at well over 300,000 miles. Coolant Pump B malfunctioned also at well over 300K miles. Outside of basic maintenance and the few issues above, that was the most dependable car I ever drove, for work or as a personal vehicle. A 400 mile day cost under $20 for gas. It was a real workhorse, super dependable and comfortable to drive for 12 hours a day. I'd like to find one for a personal car, but they are hard to find. I drove 2010 camry hybrids at the same company, and they also held up to almost 400,000 miles before being retired. Those were ok but not as nice as the 2013.

If buying used you can check the Toyota app and enter the VIN and find all the service records done at toyota dealerships. I bought mine at 260k and inspected it real well (I am a mechanic). The only issue this one has is one of the tire sensors is starting to go bad. If you ask me for 270k that's pretty insane. This things ride is rigid compared to the older body style however I prefer this. Oh and don't look at the less than 5 star reviews on this car because those people complain about storage compartments. This year also seems to have fixed the melting dash board issues as well (my wife's 09's dashboard is essentially flypaper) so yeah of you are in the market for a nice cheap reliable used car I would buy one with good service records and high milage in a heartbeat.

I commute 40 miles a day. Traded in my 2010 Camry SE I4. for a mid-size hybrid under 25k. Test drove Optima hybrid, Sonata hybrid and the beautiful Fusion, sadly they couldn't keep up to their EPA estimates. Bought a Camry hybrid LE. 185 miles on the ODO and I am currently averaging 55-61 mpg. 67% city/33% hwy. I don't care about the looks but some rattles are unbearable. The sound quality is good. Seats don't support well but hey, I don't get to work tired..

So I did tons of research that included the new fusion, sonata/optima, new accord, and toyota's own lexus/avalon. I would have preferred a kewler/sportier fusion but the slow and unproven hybrid system turned me off, the sonata/optima are lacking in mileage, reliability, build quality, and more (my last car was 2011 sonata SE). The avalon.Lexus charge too much for the exact same engine plus better styling, more standard features, and roomier interior (which the camry is plenty big enough). This left only the new accord, which has quite a few new features never before tried on a hybrid, and a price tag about 5K more. If I had more to spend I probably would have gone this route...

Can’t say on repairs as we just bought the car- but I would highly recommend this vehicle - the hybrid has already gone through a week of being everywhere around town- even back and forth to clients 30 miles away from home and only used a half tank of gas!!!! I’m in love with comfort and the leather and suede seats which are not in the newer models! My kids feel the air from dual climate which is only in the EXL model. So great! So happy with this purchase;) Purchased from Mercedes Benz Ft Myers by wonderful sales person Kris Wasakowski he was sooooo helpful and gracious! 2019 Feb purchase date

I no longer own this car. Traded it in for a 2015 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Touring. This car is even better than the 2013 Camry Hybrid that previously rated. My wife and I LOVE this car. The only complaint is that it does not have cup holders in the doors!! It is quiet, comfortable and beautiful inside. The blind side and lane change warnings are great. Ample power and, as expected, great gas mileage.

This is a great vehicle but there is a common issue with Toyota cars of having smelly vents. There is even a class action lawsuit Update. I turn off the recycle air and have cleaned the vents with a few products and the smell has gone away

This is my fourth Toyota Camry and my second XLE hybrid. My 2011 hybrid vibrated when it was at rest. The 2014 is much improved in this respect. The 2014 also has quicker acceleration and better handling. In other respects, Toyota has really made the car less desirable. Most notably, the driver's seat doesn't have enough padding. It is rock hard and uncomfortable right in the middle. Can't imagine why they would save a little money and make such a big mistake in comfort. Also, I can no longer fit my umbrella in the side pockets on the doors. Everything falls out of the glove compartment on the passenger side. Glove compartment in the center no longer has the basket that held my pen.

I have about 9K miles on my 2012 XLE and I have yet to get near 40mpg. I get between 36-37 mpg in Eco mode. What gives? Should I contact my dealer on this and/or is this normal?

Small compartment for storing registration and other significant items to the left side of the dash next to steering column is worthless. It will not even hold a credit card or a business card. Poor design engineering. What was the point? Nice reliable sedan, why such a poor resale or trade in value? It's not a Ford after all.

The Camry's suspension sacrifices ride and comfort for handling. I feel like the car has a sports tuned suspension. You feel every bump and hear the road noise. I am very disappointed in the ride and comfort of my Camry Hybrid LE.

2013 Camry LE Hybrid never obtained gas mileage. 5 Recalls in 1st year and rust found. Dealership stated when you turn car in it's our problem don't buy this car. Maintenance package a JOKE . First mandated Service was Start and SHUT off car THREE times to remove CODE. Dealership at 23 months would not change oil or service car make an appointment when YOU PAY. Deafening road noise, dangerous BLIND SPOT needed to add mirror to side mirror. Interior Quality of car completely PLASTIC and seats equivalent to park benches. Have to Hand Pump Front Drivers seat. Non existent compatibility for today's electronics. Do not drive in the SNOW very low body clearance, gas mileage drops like a rock. Listed sales price $32000 absolute gouging could never RESELL this car at any price over $10,000. Toyota as a BRAND has NO customer service, stated GET A LAWYER. Dealership went out of business had so many Better Business Complaints of not honoring car maintenance package as advertised ON TV. Toyota Headquarters representative stated: "We do not deal with dealership issues, maintenance issues, or customer complaints. TOYOTA has NO Reputation and stated we are honorable come back after acceleration deaths DO NOT BUY TOYOTA
