2 months and 3,500 miles
Over all we love this car. Roomy sedan front and back with lux finishes. The trunk is smaller than non- hybrid big sedans. Actual mileage /per gallon is impressive. After a few long distance trips we do wish for more trunk space. The chrome bezel on the dash is a negative when the sunlight hits it just right. Toyota could easily fix that. This car does not offer the softest ride on a bad road, as has been noted. However, we are city drivers with fairly frequent extended long distance freeway trips. The ride could really benefit from a little softening. We much preferred the ride in our old Avalon. The GPS sysyem is not intuitive and could be improved. Love the back up camera.

Great Gas Mileage For A Big Car
I've had the Avalon hybrid for 5 months. So far, the gas mileage has been decent, but with the a//c on, the mileage is less than advertised. The navigation system is ok but not as feature driven as some. For example, if I want to know the nearest Walgreens, it does not allow me to enter that as search criteria. However, it does work well with a normal address. The volume of the voice is changeable with nav setup. The ride is comfortable with lots of legroom in the back. The Entune system is good, except it uses a lot of battery power from my phone, so I don't use it. In ECO mode, the car provides enough power for normal use, and with it off, it is quite fast.

Are you too tall for the Avalon?
Resale value drops like a rock. The car is great once you get in, at a little over 6'1" it seems low to me and the center console where my knee rests is kind sharp. The size of the trunk and back seat are great, but when you get the Hybrid the rear seat does not lay down! Can't haul anything long!

AWESOME CAR!
My 2016 Ford Edge Sport AWD with 137,000 miles on it developed a bad rack and pinion. I did a quick Google search and found a Hybrid Avalon for much less than I expected. Test drove it the same day, took it home for the spouse to approve and had it within a couple days. It had low miles at 88k at time of purchase. I enjoy an average of 36 mpg and only need gas about 1 a month. Of course the more you drive it, the more gas you need. The adaptive cruise was an added bonus that works great. It is a Limited and it has every option available for that model year. Wireless charging on 14 model car is just crazy. The led DRL's are just awesome. This car does not look like it's 9 years old. The ride is good. The interior noise is practically non existent. Very quiet. The transition between ICE and Hybrid is hardly noticeable. I have noticed that it's easy to spin the tires on wet pavement at take off if you really punch it.At purchase it already had new tires and brakes installed along with new cabin and air filters. 36mpg with a car the size of a Taurus......that says something!

Decent overall, but not stellar
My XLE Premium hybrid had a very rough ride, which everyone knows about the 2013-2015 Avalons. You really feel every single bump or rough patch. I installed struts and springs from the 2018 model year and the ride was improved quite a bit, but very far from a luxury ride. At 130k miles, the hybrid system is not that smooth, and the car idles roughly and burns a small amount of oil between changes. The auto start and stop is very noticeable, as is road noise. I calculate fuel economy very carefully, and I have averaged only 32 mpg throughout my ownership. There is not much to complain about in this car, but this year of Avalon does not feel special nor any better than a Camry. The interior is okay, but some surfaces appear cheap. I would recommend a 2016 or newer, and a V6 over the hybrid. Otherwise, just buy a newer Camry and feel satisfied that you aren't missing out on much.
