Gas Sipper

I bought the car for one thing, gas mileage. I think this car is basically under the radar in terms of people knowing about the great gas mileage. My first tank shows 34.9 MPG in city driving! It is slow, but you really don't need anything fast in rush hour traffic. I'm very impressed so far. Take it easy on the gas pedal and the car will return excellent numbers! This car will pay for itself in no time! Great buy!

This little wagon had been sitting for 2yrs with a dead battery and a very bad timing chain. The dealer sold it thinking it was done for sure with over a 195,000 miles on the clock. We paid $350 dollars for it only because it had a very nice aquamarine body and a very nice interior. We changed the battery, installed a new timing chain and gears, fresh oil and filters in both engine and transmission, and new set of spark plugs. The little car fired right up and ran like a clock. Passed state inspection with no problems. After 2 months of driving it has averaged 38 to 42 miles to the gallon and did I mention it's an automatic.

170K and still going

We bought this 1995 SL1 new. My wife drove it, I drove it, my son drove it, and then I bought it back from him when he bought a new car. I'm still driving it at 170K. We have put a couple of alternators on it and replaced the brakes, clutch and radiator. The engine is still solid and runs great. Headliner is falling down and plastics are cracking, but we still enjoy driving this little car!

Not bad for a used car

I have been driving this Saturn 1995 SL1 for 6 months and I have not had any major problems. Let's say if you want a car with anything but runs without major problems, buy it. You don't need fancy design or power system in and out. If it runs OK, isn't it the best?

Some design flaws Ceiling light fell out because clip broke, washer fluid cover broke - same reason, water poured into car when it rained - had to have new rubber gutters installed. Transmission was repaired two years ago and water pump died shortly after purchase. Otherwise, car has been reliable. Need to replace it with an suv because we are moving to a mountainside accessible over gravel roads - keep losing my little car in the pot holes.
