Nothing spectacular
I should start off by saying I am a Cayenne owner who got the chance to drive the Macan S as a loaner car for 4 days. I was generally quite disappointed. I've driven many kinds of cars, and the Macan simply does not stand out. I'm surprised by the overwhelmingly positive reviews, as the car does not live up to it. It is a rather average ride dressed up with a somewhat fancy interior that isn't particularly spacious or functional. Porsche has a way of making cars that are large on the outside and small on the inside (this complaint applies to the Cayenne as well). The rows of buttons in the center console is getting old, and the entertainment console is a joke compared to what you'd find in a Tesla. The exhaust note is a gimmick aimed at impressing new-to-Porsche owners, as the car is not particularly fast. A small capacity engine aided by turbo charger just doesn't cut it. After you spend some time with the car, you really start to feel like "Hey, this drives like any other car!". After my short stint with the Macan, I couldn't be happier to return the loaner.

Yes and No
The style is tops and so is the drive. As far as handling Mercedes and BMW does a better job . Another disappointment is the seat as it does not raise itself enough as well as weak on the lumbar department. A car of this stature should always be top of the line even without optional equipment. Possibly the newer models do as I’m referring to 2017 models

Unreliable
Have a ‘17 Macan S with 56k miles bought on CPO. Pampered from new. Had oil leaks from the timing chain cover - apparently most Macans suffer from this. Required an engine removal to repair. Also the transfer case went out. Again, most Macans are impacted. A number of lesser issues. Porsche is very reluctant to honor warranty issues; they used to be much better. The car drives and looks great, too bad it was under engineered, and poorly supported by Porsche. Don’t buy one!

Best small SUV in the sport luxury market
I bought my 2017 Porsche Macan S in November of 2016 straight from the dealer with port of Baltimore shipping documents still inside the car and only 14 miles on the odometer! The smell of fresh leather and paint was truly intoxicating and so was the initial test drive! I bought it immediately from the dealer as the car had literally arrived on the showroom floor the day before. Thankfully I ended up driving it for the next 5 years until I had to relocate overseas for work. This is honestly one of the best small, luxury sports SUVs in the market, I had test-driven a Jaguar F-Pace SUV, Porsche Cayenne (base model) as well as an Audi SQ5 but had concerns about their reliability and finally decided to check Porsche Macan and hands-down it had a more comfortable ride and better handling than both of those cars. In addition my 2017 Porsche Macan S came with a Sport Chrono optional package which honestly was too much performance for such a small SUV (I can only imagine how fast the Turbo Model is). In my 5 years of owning this car I had no problems whatsoever, other than one fuse that went out in the back for the tire air pressure pump and that was replaced by the dealer right away. I also took my car several times "off-roading" in heavy snow and it handled exceptionally...the computer slippage system and breaking on ice/sleet was even better than my previous car Volvo S60r (AWD) which had been designed specifically for winter climates. My only minor complaint about this car would be the limited passenger space in the back and visibility from the rear window but again this "complaint" I was already aware of when buying a small SUV and learned to deal with it.
