I purchased the Nissan Xterra X because I wanted a vehicle that I new would last me. I went from a Trailblazer to the Xterra and I figured i'd be disappointed but hey, I would save on my monthly payment...so it would all work out. Well, I love the Xterra! I like it more than the trailblazer. It's a more 'outdoors' vehicle. Is great for people who camp, bike ride or have a couple of dogs. Easy to maintain. Has more power than I expected. Is very comfortable. I have not had any problems. The best advice I can give you is to test drive one. Make sure you like it....test it. I totally love mine, it's what I was looking for in my heart.

Great Off Raod vehicle...true for DC roads too!! Satisfactory mileage ... considering you get what is estimated by EPA. Little bouncy on city roads. great pick up. SE has a very good turning curvature and very good traction in snow/heavy rain.

Very good to drive much like a car. A little stiff on bump's. Very roomy for sitting front and back. The Xterra is not for a big family, not enough storage room inside. A very fun SUV for two or three people.

Anyone who owns or considering buying any Nissan/Infiniti first google Antifreeze in transmission to verify its not a problem child. Have a good mechanic look its trans fluid/antifreeze over really good for anything milky or discolored in them. If you do find one without this issue be sure you look on youtube to see how you bypass the transmission lines. Other option is buy an all aluminum radiator for it. Don't buy another OEM or cheap aftermarket plastic/aluminum radiator and think its fixed, idk why but they fail fast on Nissans. I read it may be their transmissions heat up more so the seal inside a plastic radiator fails but idk, just one mechanics post I read? All aluminum Rad or bypassing trans hoses is the only real fix on them. Nissan should have recalled all these vehicles to fix these chit rads but just never cared enough about its customers to do it. I've owned 12 Nissan/Infiniti's but since Nissan was sold around 1999 Nissans/Infiniti has never been the same build quality or service. Shame, it was once an excellent car maker. Im done with them until a decent vehicle manufacture buys them!

Great Improvement from 2004 Xterra

Very pleased with 2006 Xterra "S" after 4100 mi. Traded in a 2004 Xterra "X" to get much-improved new model. Best upgrades are extra HP (up to 270 hp from 170 hp!!), 6-spd manual trans and fold- flat rear seat and front psgr seat. Comfortable handling and ride. Great visibility out. Good shifting, better than some performance cars. Nice jump on acceleration. Improved visibility of gauges welcome--light background on old model invisible in bright sunlight. Like unique styling, more classy than 2004 model.
