Car performs well and gas mileage is great 33 city, 41 hwy. But the alternator was only producing 12.4 volts and needed to be replaced. The car had only 40,000 miles on it. It turns out that the alternator for the S model can only be purchased at Nissan, and it costs $860 and comes with only a one year warranty.

I researched this car to death before I bought it. I got the SR fully loaded. Love the technology of Android Audio, blind spot, and sensors. Gives a very nimble ride. Get 41 mpg when drive 70-75 mph. Get 50 mpg when drive 60 mph. Seats very comfortable. Very nice sound system. This car is the best deal out there.

I am a car guy, and the Versa is not really know for being for us car guys/gals. BUT, this car is very fun! The interior and exterior styling looks awesome, and is easy to clean/wash. Truck space is huge, and space is plentiful. I have the 5-speed with the 1.6 liter engine (HR16DE). Contrary to what others say, it accelerates nicely, and I am currently getting 45 mpg (empty car, highway miles). The only complaint I have is I feel there should have been a 6-speed transmission. The engine screams at 3,500RPM @ 70mph. As for reliability, it has not given me any issues. I'll come back in a few years and let you know... UPDATE: The infotainment (which is also the radio) is very picky with what devices to use, if you have an iPhone, good luck. Also, the rev-hang got so bad for me with the 5-speed, I ended up trading it in. It started to annoy me and did not fit my lifestyle. I would still keep it at a 5-star though, as that is just personal complaints, not really about the car though.

Here’s a list of the features in my 2020 Base vs. 2010 Versa Base: power windows, locks, trunk, mirrors; integrated, full-color integrated Bluetooth audio screen (2010 did not have a radio!); A/C, interior trunk release, auto-dim high beam; cruise control; auto stop from front collision; lane drift warning; back-up camera; rear-backup bumper warning/braking, multiple interior lights; trunk light, window visor mirrors, multiple usb outlets, real seat cup holders, etc! All in a really good looking sedan. I firmly believe Nissan has mistakenly packed too many features in too low a price. Buy.

Most brands killed their small cars (Yaris, Fit..) for compact suvs. Tested the slew of new and used - Cruze, Fit, Yaris, Accent, etc. At $15k~18k, nothing could match the Versa. Large trunk, good back seat space, clear front view, zero gravity front seats, tons of safety features, auto temperature, advanced cvt with very good mpg, ample soundproofing, fingertip easy steering for long commutes and easy parking, no key or fob needed in hand - just press the button on the handle to lock and unlock, remote engine start with cabin cooling/heating to preset temperature, usb charging ports, android/iphone integration, and a very compliant suspension for the weight class (2600lbs~). Yaris hatch and sedan - years old design, noisier, fewer safety features. Fit - ditto, small trunk. Accent - seats can't adjust high enough for short drivers, harder/tougher buttons and controls. Civic - too low, bump head getting in, ugly. Etc. Basically, the Versa is the 2020 small car benchmark for Los Angeles commutes and families. More than enough trunk space for groceries and strollers with the kids strapped in the back. None of that silly hatchback must-fold-down-the-seats to fit a grocery cart's worth of bags. Some may want sporty German luxury car steering feel and acceleration, then complain. Sorry??... Cvt!! That gives you a big hint this is a 20-50 miles per day freeway commuter, not a racy 300+hp 3-series. Fingertip light steering, some may say numb, has enough feel to know where the car is, and electric steering drops the resistance at slow speeds to make super super easy turning lock to lock parking in tight spaces. You'd have to wrestle the wheel on other cars. At speed, steering tightens up and the lane detection, forward collision, side collision, and such keeps you heading home after a long day in rush hour without much effort. It's not the tight direct steering of the 92 era Sentra, but that's back in an era where OC to LA was never more than 45 minutes away in rush hour, whereas the Versa is for today's reality where it can take 2-3 hours for the same commute. Ie. The Sport mode and button are best left forgotten because you're driving a small car, long distance commuter and the cvt label should have told you that before buying it. That said, the built in instantaneous and average mpg is really nice for trying to ecomodder . com a 50+mpg commute. Distance in miles remaining in gas is another nice feature. That cvt is really nicely tuned for high mpg as long as you accelerate sensibly like those auto insurance commercials tell you to. Kick it down, no big issues merging on the freeway etc although you'll hear the engine roar a bit. Expected since it's not a big V6. Not an Altima in zoom, but nothing so slow you'll be overrun or worried about merging. Sound dampening is very good. At the level of the Altima from a few years ago, noticeably quieter versus other small cars. Now, if you're going to compare vs bigger, higher grade sedans, you might have complaints. Reset your ears. It's better than some large sedans from years ago, and sound levels never an issue at freeway cruising. Well-muffled is what I'd call the experience. Competitive for the small to mid sized sedan market. Led headlights and fog are bright. Surprising is auto off/on. Little things like this and the button door handle lock/unlock and auto temperature really put this into the mid sized sedans for features. Radio like all modern touch systems are more complex than the old analog two dial radios, but thankfully, nowhere as painful to use as the C300 Mercedes mess. Wish it did have an integrated gps map option because you do tie up your phone to do that. Because the Versa is a new 2020 design, it's nicer than everything else I the same range that were designed years ago. Even the cross-traffic alert that isn't normally found is included. Of course, if you look at the Thailand/Malaysian version, it doesn't have the leather seat or 360 surround camera options. Still, it feels like a mid sized sedan from one generation back, meaning instead of compromising buying a starter small car, dad might just take the new Versa and give you the mid sized sedan instead because it's so nice and well designed. Happily, because people don't think "Versa" right away for the under $20k car, they might miss it. Most uber, rentals, or beginners go for the more popular "Sentra". Thus, it'll sit long on the lots, which makes your offer of a lower purchase price more tempting for dealers wanting to move these out. You can get a nice SR discount to under $18k.

I like the 2021 Versa because the name says it all. This is a versatile vehicle. The handling is awesome, the fuel economy is outstanding. But the thing I love the most has to be the technology built into this compact. This car has the technoloby of higher end cars which for its class makes it, I believe one of the safest and more reliable vehicles in the market. Nissan has a good product in the versa at a fair price. I would recommend this vehicle, if you're looking for a safe, affordable, fuel efficient car (epecially with the price of gas these days) you will not go wrong with the Nissan Versa.

We bought our 2021 Versa to tow behind our motorhome. To do this it must be a standard shift and not have the adaptive cruise control, so we bought the base model. The only option it had was floor mats. I love the fact this car has features typically optional on other cars. Love the handling and versatility of the car. The trunk is huge. With the stick shift it's fun to drive. I would buy another in a second.

Great driving car as only one problem the gas gauge and mileage is not right, when the gauge shows a quarter of tank and the mileage indicates you have about 185 miles to go until empty is wrong, filled the tank of and it took over ten gallons and the tank only hold 10 gallons according to the owner manual,have taken the car back two times to the dealership and now I am carrying it back for the third time for the same problem, the average gas mileage is stuck on 38 miles per gallon, this car has only 7,900 miles on it and this has been going on since I bought it new in July 2020 , Nissan needs to come up with a fix for this instead of telling the Technician to take battery cables off the battery then reconnect the battery per the Nissan Techical statement, I am about to check into the Lemon Law about this for this is third time that they would be trying to fix this problem.

NISSAN VERSA SR 2020 I recommend the SR version only (top of line). Engine feels much better than other trims like SV This car comes with all the technology of 2020 but at a very low price compared to its competitors, Honda, VW, Toyota...Its a very good looking car, but wont stand out like a Bmw, the interior is much better than vw jetta and honda civic 2020 and toyota corolla any trim by far....and those cars are more expensive. So i believe i saved money buying this one.... Performance: just ok its the minimun acceptable, its not a bmw. but it doesnt struggle uphill either. Good on gas, i'm doing 45 mpg in highway with premium gas. The only problem i feel it has is that the steering is to light (feels good though), any imperfections in the pavement change the course of the car so it demands a lot of work while driving....it goes off track easily. even the wind can change its course. the shocks are good anyway Technology: LED headlights are super white and huge, i would say one of the best features. Stereo sounds good. has radars for collision (front and sides), lane crossing, rear camera. all the tech it has. android and apple connect. also automatic emergency braking (back and front). remote start, 1 touch door open/close on handles, no keys... thats cool Interior: small but ok, its the best compared to its competitors, good seats (cloth dark grey), the plastic/leather combination in the front is good quality, doors/windows/etc of good quality. It could come with more fancy lights though. Space is the minimum but ok Exterior: pretty small looking but nice, rims are 17" nice A good car.

Purchased brand new. Been in the shop multiple times for the brake light sticking on, all the dash lights coming on and cruise control not working. Wish I would have never purchased this vehicle. It's been nothing but a headache.

I I own a 2021 Nissan Versa. It has the CVT transmission. I see nothing wrong with this transmission is mine operate seamlessly. It's just a bunch of hogwash rumors and deformation. This is not a traditional transmission so it's not going to feel like one. Some people complained about vibrations. I bet that's because they had their Lane assist on and was swaying Over The Line it will give you one hell of a vibration. Normal operation. I would recommend a Nissan Versa to a friend

This would be a nice little car if it weren't for a few issues. First and foremost is the schizophrenic CVT transmission. My 2022 engine-brakes aggressively when you let off the gas and then hesitates, downshifts, and occasionally slips when you accelerate again. This behavior is intermittent and especially annoying while driving in low-speed stop and go situations. The front-end went badly out of alignment with about 10k of gentle commuting. The windshield wiper linkage is squeaks and clicks intermittently. There are also several annoying rattles and buzzing noises that come and go. The seats are rock hard and not ergonomically shaped which makes them very uncomfortable for me and the tire noise is deafening on coarse pavement. On the positive side, it's attractive, feels well-made and gets very good mileage. If not for the above described issues, I'd give it 5 stars.

Great car. Gas mileage is about 25 in the City and 40 in the highway. I paid $18,000 out the door. Worth a test drive.

I bought this car last summer, and have had nothing but good things to say. Keep in mind I'm rating the base 5 speed manual model, who I nicknamed "Nippy Chan". Fuel efficient, the max is listed as 35, I average about 37.5 (again, it's a manual and I'm a conservative driver). The car sounds like it has a turbo on it, but I've had a great satisfaction revving as it has a satisfactory sound. In one year I've driven this car in a plethora of conditions, here's what I have to say: Summer: Air conditioning has never waivered. I've had it on max settings for the coldest and had to turn it off because it was that cold. Even passengers in the back would need a break. And in a years time my mechanic (dealership) has maintained it still doesn't need service (which I can't believe but I digress). Sand/loose dirt: being a door dasher and sole proprietor I've gotten into some sticky situations where loose sand and dirt was an issue. Due to it's light weight, this helped me when digging the car out. Snow: Driving this in nearly below zero temperature, with snow that nearly buried the car, little "Nippy Chan" had no problems turning over. This is due to the full synthetic engine oil, and more efficient engines. Given, I still did have to let him idle, but you have to do that with all cars - including new ones- in the snow. Hills: because I can control the gear, he's never had an issue, and have given some Porche's a run for their money uphill in the San Fernando valley (lol). This car does well with high RPM's. First time I bought him had a situation where I had to chase a perp with the car, got him up to 8,500 RPM and he still did fantastic. Most readers won't be needing to chase people, but he did well for a car with these stats and specs. High speed: *Disclaimer* DO NOT DRIVE RECKLESS, EVER. To be honest, this car handles incredibly well at high speed. How fast? Well, I got him up to 110 MPH - again, don't do this. He handled well and didn't seem to have any issues getting up to said speed. The cab didn't shake, no engine resistance, no lights came on or indicated any engine issues. My issues with this car have been quite minimal compared to some. Safety features: I was genuinely pleasantly surprised to find this car has lidar sensors (basically boat sonar on a car), lane detection, and many times, the impact prevention. I've had several situations where the sensors saved me from an accident, and this engine with dead stop the vehicle, no joke. But of course avoid putting your car in that position as it is hard on the engine. But he's saved my behind more times than I can count from other reckless drivers, one instance, the sensors saw the car coming before I did and dead stopped me at an intersection. I was always skeptical, but now a believer. And in the event that you ever get into an accident, quoting from a driver I know who was in an accident during a roll over: it felt like I was in a padded shell. Even the rear axle that was damaged was fixable under insurance, and that car is chugging along somewhere in California right now. In conclusion: I couldn't be happier with my "Nippy Chain". Reliable, easy to park, fuel efficient, fun to drive, great trunk space, amazing safety features. My only wish is if it had a sunroof, but even without, I love this car. For me, the true sign that I've fallen in love with a car is when I drive by a dealership and ignore the other cars because mine is satisfactory to me. Given, I've driven a lot of Nissan products, primarily Datsuns in my life. I've held off writing a good review because I'm scared people will know how good it is and then my car will be at risk of being stolen. The last cars I drove that were comparable to this one was a 1981 Datsun Bluebird, and a Nissan Skyline. With that latter comparison, let me explain: This car has great "bones". That's to say, it has a lot of potential for racing. Strapping a turbo onto this little guy, new computer, and exhaust system, and retuning the engine parameters wouldn't be that hard because it's a pretty simple yet effective build on a car. It has a great base to it's structure that is easy to maintain and would be very easy to modify. And my end goal is to turn him into a "sleeper" - a car you wouldn't suspect to have high horsepower. It's an even ride that has a lot of potential. Don't believe me, test drive one.

Warranty doesn't cover the transmission going out on a 4 year old car. It has has little mechanical problems since it reach 30,000 miles, now it would be well over cars value to repair transmission.

I just purchased my Nissan versa. And I love it until not even having it for a month My transmission is gone and needs to be replaced... I thought Nissan had fixed this problem from the past, but They haven't. Before I purchased this one I got a 2016 Sentra But I had for not even 3 months. And the transmission blew on that 1 as well.... I will never ever get a nissan again.... And it's sad because I really like this car. And it breaks my heart that at 80000 clicks. I have to replace my transmission which thank God is under warranty..

Do not buy 2020 nissan versa, In 1 month car went dealership for service . Sensors are bad need replacement. I won't reccomend to buy Nissan I am second time own nissan never again

"Slow acceleration!". If that's all you got, you got nothing. Got to wonder how much the oil companies pay for negative reviews when all they have is acceleration with comes with lower gas mileage. The Versa take 9 seconds (CV trans) 0-60 and gets incredible gas mileage. That car is quick. I have never had problems keeping up with traffic or merging into traffic on the interstate. If I wanted a drag racer I would have bought a Dodge Charger. My computer shows average highway and city at 42 MPG. I rarely visit the gas pumps. Nice looking, well built, nice ride, accomodates tall people, nice interior. If I had one complaint.......... I would have one complaint. A gentleman saw my car in a parking lot and said it was beautiful and wanted to buy it. I always thought it was great looking. Mine is a 2017 SV. Totally dependable. A dealer offered me trade in on the car for $3,000 less than I paid for it 6 years ago because they are in huge demand and the value seems to be going up for used Versas. I have a friend who travels long distances daily and he has put 190,000 miles on his Versa and has not had any problems. If someone were to total my Versa, I would buy another one. Sales are really down as pointed out by reviewers, sure because YOU CAN'T FIND A NEW VERSA. Nissan must not be making many and all in my area are pre sold before they are even delivered to the dealer. I really like my Versa.

Had a brand new rental for two weeks. as time went buy I found the seats uncomfortable. the controls cheaply made, very poor heater. Drove ok, but felt it was a car where they had cut corners. Not one I would consider buying.

I bought mine brand new in 2021 in July MFR date on door June 2021. This car has been the best thing ever great gas mileage at over 40+ MPG still peppy for as small as it is. Great technology has Panasonic audio system, Pulled mine out to see what kind of audio it has because I am a want to know person. Don't regret buying it for one second. I bought the highest trim the SR in pearl tri-coat paint color with every option available. Only thing missing is leather seats which I am going to have redone to make it what I want lol.

The car is little bit small in size, running good under the speed of 70 and driver side door does not close normally, bcz it needs some extra power to close. Secondly, I found the prices for this car in between 15 to 17 thousand dollars, but Nissan dealership gave me price $19,525.00 before tax and title. So, I think it is better to pay a little bit more and buy a big and confirtable car.

I have an issue with my 2020 Nissan Versa. This is regarding the Forward Emergency Brake system. When my wife was driving on the highway, the light for the sensor suddenly appeared in the dashboard for no apparent reason. The light appeared when she was driving and not when she just took off from the vehicle. She did not hit or bump anything, in fact, there was no indication that the bumper or even the Nissan logo and grill was involved in an impact. Even the dealership which is Anderson Nissan in Lake Havasu, AZ confirmed that the front was clean. When they removed the bumper, they saw that the bracket that's holding the sensor was misaligned. They were quick to say that it was involved in an impact but cannot give me a good reason why the bracket was misaligned from the inside and the front bumper has no signs of impact. I tried to contest their assessment, but they said that the impact might just be minimal and that it can still misalign the sensor. I have a hard time accepting this because in the first place, how can the bracket be misaligned when there are no dents or impact damage in the front bumper. Secondly, knowing that this device is sensitive, it should have been placed in a secure location since this device is essential for safety. This device is meant to prevent an incident and not meant to function if something has impacted your vehicle. If the device is meant to prevent, it needs to be in a secure location. Anyway, Anderson Nissan told me that since this is an incident where it was caused by an impact, the warranty is not going to cover the cost of the repair. Since safety is a primary concern for me and I want to have the forward emergency brake back, I ended up paying $1923.96 for the whole thing. I feel that I was not treated fairly in this situation. Anderson Nissan is not truthful and transparent. They should have asked me to witness live during the time they took the bumper out. They only showed me pictures after they took it off without my knowledge. What if they fabricated the whole thing after they took the bumper out, that is very possible since I was not there. I pleaded with Anderson Nissan and Nissan Consumer affairs to give me a refund, but I fell on deaf ears. I would like to show the pictures here but I can't seem to upload it. All of this is just ridiculous.

The 2021 Versa is undoubtedly the worst car I have had the displeasure of driving. The driver and passenger seat lacks armrests, the seats are small and extremely uncomfortable. The ride on normal highway at normal speeds are sometimes a challenge to maintain a strait line as the front end does not seem to be balanced with the rear and floats under normal driving conditions. I would not let my kids drive this car as it is unsafe!!!

Had this car for a couple of months, was really into going to the Galveston beach at the time. When I would hit 80 on the highway, thought the engine would jump out. Engine very weak. Good if you need it for simple driving around town, or from one very gentle like a young girl or grandma. On the small side, but could fit my 6'3 ex boyfriend at the time.

My vehicle drives smoother and brakes are better, I also needed air in my tires due to the weather messing with my pressure and my vehicle is well.

I recently picked up a used 2021 Versa S 5-speed Manual in Black. 20k miles. Great gas mileage, comfortable ride, smooth clutch, smooth shifts, and decent handling. I always wanted a Versa because of the affordability and reliability (manual transmission). There is "some" rev hang but its very manageable, at least for me... and its barely noticeable. Despite the low performance numbers, the car has no problem getting up to highway speeds safely. I have not problem merging or passing on the highway. Yes, the car could DEFINITELY use a 6th gear, but the gearing of the 5 speed reminds me of the 5 speed BMW transmissions that had no overdrive gear... Overall, I love this little car, and for $16K, you can't beat it.

This car has been great so far, and I'm a good judge of cars in this class since I own this, an '18 Kia Rio and a '16 Honda Fit. Each has their positives and negatives, but this write-up is to review the Versa only, of course. Pros: 1) Easiest manual transmission I've ever driven. First gear is geared very low so I haven't killed it yet when taking off. 2) Well-built. The car is comfortable and roomy and has a large trunk for the class. 3) Smooth engine. The engine, while not a powerhouse, is smooth and quiet right up to redline. 4) Nice ride. Firm but comfortable ride is how I'd describe it. 5) Good handling. Reassuring when taking curves. 6) Reliability. So far, so good. No problems. 7) Easy to work on. I've looked around when changing the oil and the oil is certainly a snap to change and I can see the starter would be super easy to change, too. Also the transmission oil looks simple to change. 8) Attractive. This, of course, is subjective but I think it's a nice looking car, especially for its class. 9) Well equipped - lots of nice safety touches for the low price. Cons: 1) Low gearing. You're pushing about 3300 rpm at 70 mph. Could use a 6th gear. You get used to it, but still.. 2) Paint may be soft. I bought mine used and there are a lot of swirl marks in the paint (but I don't know what the car went through before I got it) 3) Could use more power. If you 'get on it' it'll scoot, but more horsepower would add to the fun. 4) Resale could be a problem with Nissan's future in question and people still gun-shy about the JATCO CVTs (even though this is a manual). 5) Could be quieter on the road. I think this may be more the tires than anything (unlike Hondas which put off a lot of suspension noise).

I owned the car for 3 years no problems, wasn't the smoothest suspension tho.
