Love the car
This is my first car. As a college student my main focus was safety and reliability. It is a very nice car with 9 speakers, great pickup speed, and very safe. Great price with a lot of wonderful features packed in it. Also gives good mileage.
Disappointed Nissan Fan
I owned 3 Sentras before this one and a 97 Maxima and Nissan truck. Loved them all. Not this one. It does get good mileage but considering how underpowered it is should do better. The tires it came with were terrible. I replaced them with Falkens on 17" rims and it sure did make the car look nice IMO. (But that's probably just me, the car never seems to turn anyone else's head.) Things I hate: -often does not start on first try -clunky shift from first to second -too underpowered to maintain 65 mph during cruise control without down shifting -drivers side door seal leaks when driving in rain -Service Engine Soon light on at 60 K -lack of safety equip -seats do not go back far enough

Plain-Jane car, bad handling, overpriced
Bought this in December 2006. Nothing special, no power windows or seats. No cruise, no ABS, no AC, wipers have 3 settings, too slow, too fast and 'use only in a monsoon fast'. Car is squirrley on the freeway, extremely noisy, but I've gotten almost 40MPG on roadtrips doing 70MPH. If you do not turn on the power and let it set and beep a few times before turning the engine it stalls or has a hard start. Runs great on regular oil. Interior is very cheap. cupholders are useless and cups can interfere with manual shift knob. Drivers door has always had a tiny and occasional leak.
No Problems
I bought my Spec V with 400 miles. Now at 15,300 running premium gas as recommended and synthetic fuel. I average 25.8 mpg. Incredible little car that's extremely pleased me after owning a twin turbo Volvo and an 88 Supra n/a.
Poor manufacturing
This vehicle overall is reliable, but there are some major issues that have convinced me to never purchase a Nissan again. 1. Computer failure at under 1000 miles 2. Wheel bearing failure of both rear wheel bearings at under 30000 miles (Dealership tried to get out of warranty repair until I showed them that the wheel bearings were specifically covered under drivetrain warranty) 3. Technical bulletin on the fuel pump that causes a hard start. This fuel pump problem of course failed just past the warranty limitation and costs dearly to replace. I recommend replacing this yourself as I fear Nissan may just replace the fuel pump assembly with another OEM "broken" assembly
I'm sooooo mad!
How is it that I need a new engine? It's 4 years old, I bought it brand new and it only has 75,000 miles. I am anal about taking my car in for service and have never missed one. I had an 85 Sentra in high school and that's the reason I bought a Sentra again. They obviously don't build them like they used to. I will never buy a Nissan again. Nissan, you're dead to me now.
What to expect
I am surprisingly disappointed with my choice. Special Edition, sounded great, looked good, systems is nice, but have been experiencing too many issues after the 16k mile. It's been dealer maintained only, and I drive less than the average doe. Windows not working, car not starting, had to take it 4 times for the same issue and finally, they got it right, issues with cheap belts breaking, serpentine and Alt Belt. Time consuming, very stressful to be broken down on the side of the road when you have a "NISSAN" under 20k miles. Unheard of before, and I owned several makes and models including Nissan in the early 90's, when their quality was much better, So I would think twice next time.
piece of crap
Gas cap broken, it will not shut tight and will not open with pull switch inside the car. Trunk will not open by pull tab inside car or remote button. Will only open by key. Rear bumper loose and hanging on passenger side. Wheel bearings were replaced on driver rear within 6 months of purchase. Rear passenger side now need replaced. Difficult to start at times. I will NOT buy another Nissan Sentra. No freaking way.
Car Sucks
Bought it new 2006 and has been trouble since the beginning. Sold it at 126000. Miles for 400.00 dollars. Spent over five thousand dollars in repairs. Very noisy in the highway and wind can blow it off ghetto road. Paint started peeling at 40,000 miles. Replaced gas pump, muffler two times, belts twice, air conditioner hardly worked. The only thing good was the radio and cassette player. I will never buy Nissan again.

I love my Nissan
I bought my nissan in 2009 at 21k milwa on it. I love the car, great MPG. i started at 25mpg and i only used shell or bp gasoline and the best oil and now am up to 31.2(31.8) at one point. I have rims on it(16inch) bcuz the originals were bent (damn pot holes) but over all i love the car, am now at 63k miles on it and loving it. Im planning to keep until it cant run anymore. there has been a few times where i was told "u have a beautiful car" i agree it is.
Should have bought the Honda...
I used to have a '98 Sentra SE that was a great car. Replaced it with an '06 1.8S that is the worst car I've ever driven. The interior is the worst color ever imagined, and I think they used slinkies for the springs. The suspension is absolutely terrible! It doesn't corner well, it's unstable on the highway, and it's rough over even mild bumps. The cupholders were definitely not tested on a manual transmission model, downshifting into 1st usually results in hitting whatever is in them and spilling your drink. After 2000 miles, the car had already developed more squeaks and rattles than my 8 year car had in its lifetime. Do yourself a favor an spend the extra $2000 to buy a Civic.
Love the Sentra
This is the first car I have driven in years. Always was a SUV. I had my doubts going to a small car. I wanted the gas mileage. This car is extremly comfortable and easy to handle. I love it.We had to drive it to San Antonio from Ohio a few months after we got it. We were comfortable the entire trip. Did not feel cramped at all. The gas mileage is better than expected. On the highway I usually get about 37 mpg. In town about 31-33. I drive 200 miles to work a week, so this is awesome for me.
The Handles on this car
Have some fun using the cars handles around some curves.

Wow
So I bought this car after having a Cobalt SS. I loved that car and I wish I'd have kept it. I've put a hell of a lot of miles on it in the two years I've had it, but it hasn't held up to any standard whatsoever. I've had the a/c system replaced three times, the compressors are pieces of junk. The sub woofer for the Rockford system is made of paper so it's extremely easily blown. The standard brake package stinks. Honestly the only reason I got this car is because it was the only Sentra on the lot that had a factory moonroof in it. Oh, and watch out around 70,000 miles the motor mounts just randomly break.
Taxi
Im a taxi driver. I have 346.ooo miles on mine and its still running well.
Still going
Lets just say this is a damn good car if its still running after a year of my husband behind the wheel he has a record of tearing cars up in less than 6 months and trust me this little car has been threw hell but I still feel confident getting behind the wheel it take me where I need to go comfortably and shes running like a top to this day.
2006 Nissan Sentra
Great car. I bought it new in 2006. I currently have 305K miles on the dashboard. Only issue is for years it has trouble cranking and only cranks st first try in early morning.

great car
I love my Nissan Sentra. Fun to drive. Has grate pick up and moves real smooth. Got the Rockford fostgate audio and that sounds sweet. My only real is the front cup holder. And the fuel pump needs addressing. But for the 10K that I paid for it is worth every penny. The transmission went at about 29k dealer ship said that it was a fluke. Probably the previous owner. Just put a new belt on look worn and did not want it to go when I was driving would have caused more problems. Great car. Hope to keep it for a very long time.
Bought this car brand new, it's still going
I bought this car in 2006 and it's now 2020 and she's still going. It's been the most reliable car I've ever owned. Like many Sentra owners, mine sometimes has a hard start. I swapped out the camshaft sensor last year and it's gotten much better, only hesitates on really hot or cold days. Other than that and replacing the starter several years back, I've only ever had to do the regular maintenance stuff you should always do. It's still very zippy, shifts smoothly and still getting around 30 mpg highway. It has 232K miles on her. Definitely plan on owning this car until it falls apart. The interior still looks good tho the back speakers and 6 disc CD player no longer works.

My Bolivian Nissan
Bought the car 3 years ago with 120,000 miles now has 190,000. Very reliable car and a very simple car to keep up. Parts are plentiful and reasonable. Like the fact that even though it has an interference engine it has a timing chain instead of a belt. My car has 5 speed manual trans. I am very satisfied with car.

Sentra = Solid
My first ever car was an 83 Nissan Sentra wagon. It was passed down from my sister, to my brother who then passed it down to me after he totalled it, and it needed a clutch. Well after putting my own money into this car I drove it everywhere. It was nice going two weeks on a tank of gas that would only take 9 gallons on empty. Just got my 2006 because the deals were so good on them. I was going to wait on the Versa to come out, but I know that the Sentras are a for sure thing. I got mine loaded with the special addition and more options. Fog lights, SER grill 16" rims, 300W stereo etc... I got it for $13,500. For all I got with this car, and the Sentra reputation, It was not a hard decision.
Thanks for the warranty
Had car 2 months bought it used 24,700 mile now 29,634. Took it to the dealer, had trouble starting, they called head gasket, thanks for the warranty no cost, gets great mileage 35. Like the car, I hope it has no more problems, brake are noisy.
Six months since purchase of Spec V...
I have had my Spec V for 6 months. The only time I have had it in the garage was for Oil changes which I gladly perform myself. It is very reliable, I even learned to drive stick with this car and it does not seem to give. My only Mod is a NISMO Cold-Air Intake. It was definatly worth $230. The CAI does also improve gas mileage about 5-10%. The engine is so much louder after I put it on and pushed the gas to the floor. It certainly has more punch. I plan on getting at least exhaust headers and a Cat-back system.
Good entry level sedan
I purchased the 18.S Special Edition about two months ago and have been impressed. The seats are quite comfortable and I like the interior design. The ride is smooth compared to my previous 1996 Sentra, although it's a bit loud when accelerating. Gas mileage is great; I've been getting 32.6 mpg (advertisements say 35), doing highway driving as well as rural driving. Sound system was a major plus for me, 6 disc Rockford Fosgate in dash cd changer is awesome, and the speaker system sounds great. 8-inch woofer in the trunk slightly limits storage space, but sounds great. Auxiliary input lets me plug my ipod in a simple cable, and without any expensive accessories.
Love it BUT rims stink
Now here is the think! I have had this car since it had 13 miles on it! Now 3 yrs old and 47,500 miles later. I have bent 4 rims on this things! I know I know its not a manufacture issue but this stinks! It cost $200 per rim to replace through a private person and $600 through a dealership! Other than that I love the car minus the front cup holders. Just like everyone else. You put your cup in and it hits the cd player. Now that I'm married and have a child the car is getting too small. I cant get more than 3 people in comfortable. I'm trying to sell my car and get something else but cant because I still owe way too much!
Excellent Car
If any 4 banger I ever owned this is one car that will scare the hell out of the V6 and 8's a run for its money. Just touch the gas and its gone! Code red is the color of my car and there couldn't been a better name for that red and the character of this car. I will have this car for a long time and hope it an experience I will never lose gaining. Nissan dealer is been great and helpful.
Love MY Nissan
Love my Nissan. No complaints whatsoever.Love the performance and I must say, it's a very looking classy car.
Strike 2 w/ 28,000 miles
I have this car for 2.5 yrs, w/ 28k mi, 5 weeks ago the the serpentine belt went and last week a pulley seized and the belt went again. I am giving the car another shot because it's still relatively new and nissan has a good rep, but these parts shouldn't be needing replacement 28k into the life of the car. I have had 2 civics one w/ 187k and 156k when they died, they didn't have problems like this. I would spend the extra cash and get a civic.
This SE-R made me a car lover
I bought this car after popping into the dealership to check out the Altimas. Once I found out that the Sentra had zero-percent and came in the SE-R style I was all over it. A year later, this car has made me a car lover, because I never before realized how fun it could be just to drive. Also, it out-paces my friend's highly modded Mazda3 hatch. Can't put a price on that. My wife and I like this car so much we're getting her a 2007 one.
Good but not great
Purchased this car in 2006 with only 300 miles on it, since then I have driven to hell and back. It now has 127369 miles on the engine, and the car still running strong. I already replaced the belts, spark plugs and the stock tires, but that would qualify as normal wear replacement. The one issue and biggest problem I have with this car is the fuel pump, at 80,000 miles it gave out and I found out many sentra customers have the same issue. Why will Nissan not do a recall on this unit, to me it seems like nissan does not care for its customers. They want this to come out of our own pocket even though it is a manufacturer problem, nothing the customer has done has caused this faulty fuel kit.
Great little head turner!
I love this little car, I have owned several different cars and raced professionally and this car is the most race-like experience that I have found for under 25k. I didnt want a Honda/Acura because everyone has one, so the Spec V is the next best choice. I am glad I bought it, never had any regrets w/over 23k on it in 9 months. I have smiled with every mile I've driven.
too light
if the road is slick and a truck passes you, watch out, you will be in the ditch. the wind blows this car all over so I got rid of it after some close calls
Awesome Car!!!
I've owned a Lexus and it doesn't compare to my Nissan. It's roomy, it's comfortable, and it can pass anyone on the road!, there nothing bad I can say about it.
great for the $
Bought this car for gas mileage, but was also impressed with performance from the little 1.8. Very reliable, only problem so far is the heater control lite. car is pretty comfortable for the size, the back seat is tight, but who cares I sit in the front.
Great Performance for the Price
After all the rebates and discounts the cost of my Spec V was around $16,500. I was very suprised that it was that low. My mom who bought it for me as a college graduation gift actually paid for my insurance this year cause it was well under her limit. If you don't like to take turns fast you will once you've had this car after a week. The suspension is so great. I fly by people on highways when the roads are twisting and turning. This is my first car that is mine. Its also my first car that I've driven more than once that is Manual. The clutch can be very tricky sometimes. I know it just takes practice. I have only had it for about 2 weeks and I'm getting much better at it.
Very fun car, and practical
This has been a great car! It will do every thing from haul the kids to blast through the corners.
The best car I've ever had
The 1.8S is by far the best car I have ever had. My car has not broken down once so far, and it now has 104,000 miles on it. The CAM sensor went bad at about 85,000, but my car still never broke down in the process. The gas mileage I get is approx 34 on the HWY, and about 27 in town. My car is BRIGHT yellow, so with the spoiler, and black bra I put on the front, very sporty. The bucket seats could have a bit more padding. If you treat this car well, it will treat you well. I have taken many road trips in this car, NEVER worried about if my car will break down or not. The heat blasts me out of the car!!!!
Point A to Point B with some extras
Parents bought me this car (first one). Had it for 2 years this month. Average 29mpg 23 city / 39 highway. I usually only do 65-70mph on high way, was shocked at the mileage. I like that it has an aux. jack, which btw the 2006 infiniti doesn't even have (only included in the 2008 model). Windshield wipers leave massive streaks, but I think I needed to get that replaced. I can't ever seem to find a comfortable head rest position on long trips. Engine sometimes misfires on start up, I just have to wait a second and try again, not that big of deal. Hate the cup holders, fine for cups, but bottles fall right out on corners, also hits cd buttons because of position. 20 yo/boy/5'8''
Fuel Pump
Had to have the fuel pump replaced after one year. Now at 4 years needs replacing again.
Good little car
I have 44K on my 2006 Sentra SE. I have done nothing but normal maintenance. No tires, brakes, anything. Serpentine belts are due for replacement but overall I am quite satisfied with the car. The lack of guts is due to the 1.8 instead of the 2.5. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to wait for a 2.5 to be ordered/delivered.
Don't buy this one AT ALL COST!!
After getting this car, it started falling apart. The interior trim is terrible. I have broken 22 pieces off in it. Not by pulling or jerking on them. Knobs, switches, etc. you name it. I have been at the dealer 10 times on this piece of junk. AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!
Wise First Car Investment
The 2006 Honda Sentra 1.8S is my very first car purchase and I have found that is was a great investment for a recent graduate just embarking on my career's course. For the money spent it is a wonderful combination of standard features and dependability. I love the keyless entry because many times after leaving work or leaving the grocery store, I do not have a hand free to unlock the door so being able to do so at the touch of a button is wonderful! The gas mileage is incredible and the handling is more sturdy than I anticipated. My friends, family, and co-workers all agree that I made a wise investment.
Not what I expected
Don't spend the money on audio upgrade it's not worth it, the speakers sound scratchy and the bass output comes more from the front speakers than the rear subwoofer. The pilasters by the windows rattled when I bought the car. I took it to the dealership had it fixed but left passenger window still rattles a bit. The instrument cluster doesn't seem very high quality. the back seats don't have a lot of room and although the car looks big its about the same size as a mazda protege on the inside. It has limited trunk space. the car does handle real well specially when cornering, sharp turns can be tricky when accelarating because of torque steer.bottom line well powered for the price
Look at as many reviews as possible
As another so perfectly wrote, there is good reason why this car sells so cheap. Mine came off the lot, complete with warped front disks and lightbulbs falling from underneath the dash. How does a car come from the factory with warped rotors? More recently, I've waited a month and a half for a broken shock to be replaced, which has been just enough time for the rear defroster to stop working and the serpentine belt to start squealing (I hope that's all it is) Be wise, don't fall for all the extras and low price. It's truly not worth the poor components, build quality, and service from Nissan. Pay the extra several thousand for a toyota or honda, you won't regret it!
Favorite car ever owned
No mechanical problems, only disappointed with body style change. Enjoy looks of 2002-2003 a little more. Great clutch, air conditioner works great. Silver car traps heat pretty bad though. Use windshield cover it helps alot!
Fun ride; Good value
Looked at all the small performance cars under $20k and thought this the best deal. It is fast and nimble. The boring styling was actually a plus point for me. Buy it with the "racier" colors though.
Nothing but Nissan for Me
My 1993 Nissan Sentra E was traded in on a new Sentra 1.8 Special Edition. I couldn't own anything else at this point. My first one was so reliable it felt like a family member! The new one has the wickedest audio package (Rockford Fosgate) and with power everything, I feel totally spoiled. It's a pleasure to drive, is comfortable on my back and the automatic transmission is very smooth. The only thing I would want on top of all it has, is a digital compass readout on the rearview mirror. These cars wear like iron and never let you down. I love it and expect to have it for the next 13 years like the other one. Best buy for the money, buy Sentra.
New car review
Called my leasing company and said get me the cheapest four door sedan (compact) you could find me. Drove up with this little baby. Got it for $15,300 with extras.... spoiler, leather wrapped steering wheel, FosGate Stereo, even a spoiler and 16 " wheels. Drove it home in a sleet storm. All my co workers watched me sign the papers and clapped. Drove it to Austin yesterday and got 26 mpg. Cost me all of $23 round trip. My old buick would have cost me $80. And boy oh boy will it take a turn, and when I'm in a hurry to an appointment, it just rocks. Really lays down and goes.
Great 2006 Sentra
I am very pleased with my purchase. I have only had it for 1 month, but it's a great car, fun to drive. stylish yet economical and after dreading a new car purchase for a long while, I am happy with all aspects of my purchase.
