GOOD VALUE

2018 Nissan Frontier SV 4dr Crew Cab 5.0 ft. SB (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

This truck can be had for less cost than others in its class without any sacrifice in quality or performance. It is a tight vehicle which dos not have any shakes, rattles, or vibrations. Engine and transmission performance are top notch. Driver seat comfort is excellent. Dual sided climate control and heated seats are recommended options. Rear end sonar combined with the back up camera is great for safety. The towing package with stabilizer is a desirable option even if you are not towing as it helps with road holding.

A good truck for the money

2018 Nissan Frontier SV 4dr King Cab 6.1 ft. SB (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

The Nissan Frontier king cab is a mid size truck which will appeal to people with small or no children as the rear seats in the are very small. The truck is far easier to park and maneuver than large trucks although the turning radius could be better. The engine is strong and the instrumentation is well laid out and simple. The sound system is fair even with the 6 speakers offered in the value pack. The truck accelerates well and steering is good. The ride is "truckish" and bumps will be felt. Some wind and tire noise can be heard. In order to get the nicer amenities one will have to get the crew cab or an upgraded model such as the Pro 4x. Even with its drawbacks the Frontier is still a nice truck. Nissan kept the cost down by using less costly materials and using the same basic style for many years. The Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma and Ridgeline are more modern and offer more luxury items but you will pay for them. The Frontier is a sturdy basic truck that will get the job done at a reasonable price.

I was going to buy a tacoma. The cost was 3k more than the frontier. The tacoma had a 2.7 4cyl. Frontier 4.0 6cyl. Frontiers back seat was roomier, and the front seats were more comfortable. The tacoma's exterior was boring. Steaight paint nothing else, plus cheap looking wheels. The frontier had chrome an extended bed and a bed tracking system-nice. Couldn't be happier. I know that tacoma's have been great, but they are asking too much for a basic 4cyl.

I came from owning Chevy and Ford but after test driving the TRD Offroad, Colorado ZR2 and looking into the new Ford Ranger. I had hopes for the Ranger but I didn't want to buy a first model year Ranger. The ZR2 wasnt my taste with the blind spots and the hoodscope was a big one and it's non functional. The Toyota Tacoma was the same but worse with the lower seat position. I didn't think they were worth the price either. So, I checked out a Frontier Pro-4x and I love it. Plenty of room, my arm doesn't feel overstretched on the doorsill when driving. The dash isn't big but a lot of usable space for when mounting my radio and my CB radio offroading. The under seat storage for the back seat is great for my air compressor when needing to air up, first aid kit, 8Ton bottle jack, foldable shovel and when you fold down the seats I keep 2 peices off wood 18 inches long to put under the tires if I'm stuck. Haven't got stuck yet. This locking differential on the Dana 44 rear axle is fantastic. Not a fan of scissor jacks and the truck comes with one. Removing the spare tire can be a pain, when the chain gets hung up, you have to pull on it a little bit to help it go thru the hole. Put some WD-40 on it to help with that. Backup sensors work great and the backup camera is nice quality. Navigation and screen is very responsive with no lagging or studdering when using it. The hankook A/T tires I personally think are garbage as they just spin in the rain with little to no traction.

Depends on what you value in a truck. If you want the latest gee whiz features that will be obsolete in couple of years buy a different brand. If you want proven technology that’s been around a while and likely to be around ten years from now then this is the way to go. The slide lock tie downs are great, the rear seats are perfectly adequate for short trips (or long with small bodies) and the Bluetooth and USB port work well. Since I use my iPhone for navigation I’m not that concerned with the Nissan system - so I can’t say how good or accurate it is. I’ve driven other light trucks and HATED the way they always seemed to shift to a higher gear as early as possible - Mine holds the gear until a reasonable shift point. Road manners are excellent as is the ride quality, no following pavement grooves or harshness over small bumps or divots. Off road seems perfectly adequate on graded unpacked roads, not a serious rock crawler but then neither am I. Overall quality of finish appears excellent. Compared to other overpriced similar vehicles (you know who I’m referring to) the Pro 4x is an excellent value and choice. Now I’ve owned it for six months I like it even better. Overall gas mileage is around 18 MPG around town - not really any long highway trips to see if it gets better
