I'd Buy it Again
I've put 8,000 miles on this truck so far, including hundreds on gravel and dirt through a Wyoming winter, and I have no regrets. No warranty issues of any kind. The V6 has plenty of power and the steering and handling are excellent on and off pavement. I considered the Tacoma since I like the looks slightly better, but Toyota has had some serious quality/recall issues with the Tacoma over the last 10 years. That, and the fact that toyata wants a few thousand more for an equally equipped truck leaned me toward Nissan. The Frontier is indeed a rugged, no-nonsense truck. I expect to drive it for many years. BTW, JD Powers just ranked it the top midsize pickup for 2012.
GreatTruck
This is my fourth Nissan Frontier truck. I bought the 2012 por4x and it was not a disappointment . I am going to be trading it in on a new 2016 shortly. The only thing that I don't care for is the gas mileage .I use premium Shell most of the time. I get around 15.5 mpg. But I have noticed that if I run a few highway miles on it ,it tends to get better mileage. It all depends how you treat the accelerator if mileage is in question. . You don't have to "floor it" to pass or keep up with traffic . The v6 is sensitive in that it requires only moderate acceleration. I suggest to anyone who owns one or is considering buying one that they check their tire pressure often as possible. You will get a more comfortable ride if you do.

Love this truck
This truck is a nice size not as big as a Ford f150 that would not fit in my garage. Very comfortable seats. Takes road bumps pretty well for a truck. Wide turning radius. Power train is great 4x4 low take you up a 40 degree dirt road like you were on a flat surface. Nissan did cheap out with interior space and some trim. no roof seal molding and a glove box not big enough for owners manual??? Averaging 18mpg. not bad for 4x4 v6.
2012 Frontier King Cab with Sports App Pkg
Wanted a truck to pull with occasionally and carry small loads. The Sports Appearance Package is a big eye catcher and I have received lots of compliments on the wheels and overall looks. Pulls great, lots of power for getting on and off highways, mileage is ok at 19.5 with a mix of city and highway, and bluetooth works great. Backseats are not for anything more than a small child, better to use the area for storage. Handles really well, steering feels good and tight and I love the locking tailgate. Headlights and fog lights light the roads well and was very comfortable on an 8 hour road trip.
Back to nissan :)
Years ago I had pathfinder and 720 pickup and went Jeep for a bit. Our Nissans were great and I am very glad I returned. I recently bought new Frontier crew cab Pro 4x and it is a dream. The styling, power, performance, and features set it apart from the many other brands considered and researched. It helps that the local dealership has such great service dept. It is quiet, has a nice music package, moonroof (my first), and handles really well. I think the safety features are a sure plus. Mileage is ok, but is sure to get better as she ages. I had my Jeep for twelve years and look forward to at least that with this truck. Now it's 2016 and I have abt 57,000 miles on it and I'm totally impressed. It has not let me down once, still performs great, and I could not be happier. Gas mpg averages around 19 now which is ok for what this truck offers. Sure, I'd like better mpg, but one cannot have everything. Driving visibility is very good and I like the automatic locking systems w doors when I get moving. As soon as I stop, the same system unlocks the doors. AC works nicely and I don't really see any drop in mpg when I have AC on. Honestly, I have yet to find anything I'd say is a minus.......way to go Nissan. At the end of 2017, the truck is going along great with no problems. The only negative is the poor mileage. Pouring in a can of injector cleaner did help a bit, but mpg is still rather low. The performance and reliability is awesome. I still love this truck and drive it all over the place. The avg. mpg is 17 to 18 with Hwy near 20. Oh.....the odometer reading is at 68,200. Today the mileage is 71,000 and the truck is going along great. No issues or mechanical problems. Performance is great with both HWY and OffRoad. I am still very pleased with this vehicle.

Really impressed with this truck!
I just wanted to say this truck saved me and my family from a semi-truck that had no control(icy roads). We braced for impact and after the semi hit the rear end, I though we were goners! After being pushed into the other vehicle and everything was said and done. My daughter in the back seat with the booster chair and restraints and my wife in the passenger side. We all came out of this truck unscathed. The airbags deployed and till this day I am still in Awe! The truck was a 2011 SL. I would definitely RECOMMEND this truck to anyone. Now we have a 2012 Pro-4X...
Convert from a Tacoma-30k miles and going strong
I have the leather pro-4x model with every option available. The off road system with locker is fantastic. Thing is very nimble off road. The cargo system is the best from a factory that I have seen. It is very quite going down the highway. Is the right size living in the city and playing off road. I have taken my son and a friends kids all in car seats and have plenty of room in the back seat. Brakes and the motor feel very solid and have never let me down. On highway at 75-80 expect around 18-19. Around town Las Vegas is 15 mpg. Towing the max 6k weight will take you down to 7-9 mpg going though mtns. No warrenty issues and just oil changes to date.
Reliable buddy
Bought used for 16k had 30k miles. Now has 110k only maintenance has been oil changes front brakes. Avg 20 mpg overall not one issue. Most reliable vehicle I have owned.
damn good truck
I've owned trucks for thirty years. As a professional salesman requiring a truck I drove Fords, Chevy's and even the pitiful Dodge. I prefer Toyota's, but for value you can't beat the frontier. It was 5k cheaper than the comparably equipped Toyota Tacoma. The tires that come on the Frontier are crap. They lasted about 22k, and were outright scary on wet pavement. After putting Michelin ATX tires on the truck I feel it's among the best vehicles I've had. Through the recent Ice storm in North Texas I never slid or had a problem getting where I wanted to go.
great truck-- excellent value for the money
if you need a back seat to carry passengers do not buy the king cab version-- unless you are hauling small children. The king cab back seat is only good for gear ect--there is no leg room for adults. This trucks has very tight handling and a firm ride. The exhaust noise is louder than my old Mazda B4000 was but Frontier has a much more powerful V-6 and its more fun to drive. Mine is fairly low option model but its well finished inside and out and everything continues to work perfectly. I wanted a Tacoma but basically the same optioned truck in a Toyota was 5-6 grand more-but with only a 4cyliner engine. Next time I might get the crew cab version to have useable back seats but for a weekend work truck the SV King cab does the job. Mileage is about15- 16 in town and 17-19 on the highway--though I have gotten up to 20 hwy running higher octane fuel. The manual climate control systems work ok just a bit of getting use to. The traction control on this truck is wonderful. On snow covered roads with ice you can get by just fine without even engaging the 4WD. The 4WD works just well but this truck (with 150lb of weight in the back does) excellent except in much deeper snow or glare ice when you need the 4 wheel drive. The engine is a joy--smooth and powerful.

2012 Frontier SL- Winner!
I've only had this truck for a few weeks but it is exceeding my needs as expected. It came with a Snugtop shell and appeared to have light use. I chose this SL trim line over the Pro 4X because I wanted features but not the off road ride. At 53000mi it feels very tight. Engine is a little raspy when cold but smooths out in a few miles. I've only used the 4 wheel drive a little in the snow but switching was easy and it worked. Limited slip and abs was a new thing for me. Although I have to duck when getting in the headroom is fine. The heated leather seats are firm but not hard with no sign of wear. I found myself using heated seats well into spring. Center armrest is useless (to far back) but it's storage is ok and has a power port. Rear seat headrests do block vision some when looking back but heated mirrors work well too. Sprayed on bedliner is not as thick as LineX I had in another truck but is ok for light use. Tailgate liner is not sprayed on, is very slick and scuffs easily. Now a year later I have only changed plugs & filters and went to synthetic oil. MPG has gone up some, reaching 20 or so on longer trips. However, I am noticing a lot of bump steer. An alignment showed no issues and didn't help much. Now it's couple of years later. (2020) I have changed battery (Tray is from Titan so I went to larger one). Also at 64000 I replaced shocks with Bilstien 5100's. Back ones were shot and front were weak. Took care of bump steer problem. Drives like new now.

Great truck
I still stand by my original statement on the 2012 Nissan Frontier. I will be buying a new one in a couple more years. This one I have has 200,000 miles just changed the original spark plugs that never gave me any issues. The truck is been very dependable. If your looking for an affordable truck that can do a lot relative to its size. Check out the frontier. I have a 2012 SL package. Nice truck very safe and reliable. Only issues I’ve had are normal wear and tear. I have 150,000 miles and only major problem is some cosmetic problems from someone backing into my passenger side. They only broke my side step and dented the door. Other then that this truck has been great. I’m still running off the original spark plugs at 150,000 thousand miles. Only things I’ve had to do have been the breaks and changing the front ball joints and wheel bearings. This truck has never let me down. I have towed over the towing compacity by a 1,000 pounds. Although I never recommend doing that I was in a pinch and had no choice. The truck did fine. I have the crew cab truck I also have 3 children which all fit in easily. I’m hoping the redesign Frontier is just as bullet proof as this one has been. I’d like to get over 300,000 miles on my truck.

Almost perfect! Almost
This truck has everything! I am coming from a 2003 Tacoma wich I love better than the new Frontier and the New Tacoma. The frontier has things that Toyota should be ashamed that they don't. Power seats, heated seats, heated mirrors. Rear Defroster! Who do they think is out in the weather, the little sedan or the 4X4 guys. This ommitance does not make sence. The ONLY problem with this truck is is wanders on the highway and even on back roads. You have to drive this truck and not take your eyes off the road. This truck is top SL version with 18'' tires. I have tryed removing some air from tires but still not perfect.
2012 Frontier
I have 2012 frontier sv model 230,000 Miles haven't even changed belt... Change oil & transmission filters regularly it's been great truck also changed struts once... And A/C evaporator... That's about anything major... Plugs twice... Pull a lot heavy stuff... Still going strong...

Best vehicle I have ever owned.
I bought my 2012 king cab sv new. I always owned fords but never again will buy another after owning this truck. ! have 118000 miles on it and it has not had any failures of any type. I would and have spent thousands of dollars on fords I have owned before this mileage. The Goodrich AT tires that came on it lasted 95000 miles without balance or rotation. The only thing other than tires I have done was replace the brake pads at 100000 miles. The mechanic said they still had half the pad left on them I pull a 19 foot fishing boat with no problem. It hauls as much as any truck that I have ever had but I always had short bed trucks. It is fun to drive and has a lot of power. I would not even look at another truck. I think I will easily get 300000 miles out of this one. Fords lasted like this in the sixties but those days are long gone.

No Longer own! Not rugged,Rims and brakes corrode
Traded in for Ford Ranger Lariate Only have 45,000 miles. 28000 brakes replaced, allow rims corroded. All repair and service done at dealer. Nissan said all rims corrode, and brakes rusted. Last winter 2 front end alignments done, ruined a brand new set of michelin tires in front. Nissan customer care would not even talk to me. After buying 3 trucks 3 Maximas and1 Murano LE, which we traded in for Lexus RX350 this is my last Nissan. Long turning radius and hard to backup. Had to remove rear headrest for viability. Would not recommend for a cost new at around $37000 way over priced. At around 20,000 the rails and guides had to be replaced for sun roof, two years later it leaked from rain and it had to be redone from incorrect installation, a cost of $200 (discounted price). Just waiting for next thing to go bad. Can't wait for new Tacoma 2020 to come out Sun Roof has been a problem since day one. It has been repaired several times, rails and guides were replace just out of warranty, after several leaks, brought back to dealer and had to pay for a repair to their repair! It has leaked several times since. Just very poor quality overall, with rough ride

2012 Nissan Frontier Crew Pro-4x 4WD
My first choice was the tacoma but it was at least $7K more with the same option. I test drove both. I like the look of the tacoma better but the price was just way too high. I ended buying the frontier because I got it $4K less than the MSRP. Now with the frontier, the handling and power is great. I took it off road already and it handled it very well. MPG is about 15 on the city. I have not driven it on the highway that often to check the mpg. If you are looking for a 4x4 truck, the pro-4x is the best deal under $30K out of the door. I shopped everywhere. I checked Rams, f150, tacoma, and all others. Price, reliability and handling are the main reasons I chose the frontier.
Love my Stray
I was the forth owner and bought her w only 12,000 miles. Great truck! She's black on black and really sexy. I named her Stray, because none of three owners before me really wanted or appreciated her. Their loss is definitely my gain. I had to add running boards, because I had a hard time getting in and out while wearing a skirt and trying to be ladylike. I also updated the technology and added and Alpine car stereo with GPS carplay. I drive between my two homes in the City to the Country and have issue navigating either territory. I only wish I had a six cylinder while going over mountains as the transmission can be a little sluggish while hauling.

paint a big issue
Bought my pickup from Wholesale Outlet in 2017 in Sept. in April 2019 noticed paint peeling on both front fenders my pickup is a 2012 with currently 77,500 miles on it .It was bought in Spartanburg ,SC Found out the 2012 were an issue of this problem ,checked with Nissan dealer and they would not cover the issue per Nissan rep.If they can't build a better product than that I will never purchase another Nissan product very shoddy work and I see with other reviews it was a common issue of 2012 pickups Nissan Frontier SV .Poor,Poor paint job with primer paint coat and the paint cover clear shield or what. Down to the prime coat.

Still Best truck I've owned
I've owned this truck for over six years. I've never looked back. My foreign car mechanic says this Nissan engine is the best engine he's ever worked on. I've added a number of aftermarket improvements: leather seats, body side moulding, step rails, trailer hitch, backup camera, upgraded rearview mirror with temp and direction, Roll N Lock tonneau cover, and bed rug. These additions have made this the best truck I've ever owned. Its quiet, has great towing handling, superb acceleration, a nice styling look (mine is blue), and wonderful ride on the highway. I'd like better gas mileage, but this is a truck with a big engine. I have had zero maintenance problems, and have yet to have need of warranty work. It came with a lifetime power train warranty. I'd buy this truck again without reservation. UPDATE: Now seven years old, and I discovered a leaking, rear shock. However, I've been overloading with limestone rock for a building project, and I always carry around 250 lb of tools for my handyman work. This weekend I replaced the rear shocks - easily a DIY project, so I did. Engine and drive train still exceptional. I'll need new tires in a year or so. All electronics fine.

Best Dollar for Dollar available
I have only around 2k miles on the truck right now, but wanted to give my 2 cents on it. I looked at every other player on the market and it wasn't even close. On paper I thought the ridgeline would be the best until I drove it. You hit the gas and all you can hear is engine noise. The speed-o hardy would move. So the Tacoma. My last truck was a late 90's tacoma and just went on and on and on. So I thought for sure that would work. Nope. The seats are crap, and I got in the back seat and my head hit ceiling. I'm only 6'1. So that was out. So save yourself time and get Nissan. With rebates, fully loaded pro-x, leather ext 27k with rebates. Best out there.
2012 Nissan Frontier SV Sport Appearance
I bought the 2012 Nissan Frontier Sport Appearance crew cab a month ago, and I love it! I couldn't stand the gas mileage in my 07 f-150 5.4L anymore, so I traded for the Frontier. I tow a fairly heavy 20 ft. flats boat, and I was nervous at first about towing with the V6 versus my big 5.4L. The Frontier does perfect! Pulling power is impressive, and the suspension actually feels better than the ford when loaded down. Gas mileage is impressive compared to the 12-15 I was getting, I drive a mixture of city/ highway and right now I'm getting 19.4. I would definitely recommend this truck to anyone looking to get away from the MPG of a full-size truck without sacrificing ANY power.
My Nissan!!
Had it since Nov. 2012. Brand new. Almost 80,000 miles on it now. Never an engine or transmission problem. Do regular maintenance. Best four cylinder I've ever owned at 56.

200K mXiles and still going strong
Aside from the check engine light that has been on for 80K miles with no apparent ill effects, the CD player that stopped working about 5 years ago, and a passenger side view mirror that was replaced because my son knocked it off, this 2012 Nissan Frontier SV 4X4 Crew Cab has been flawless. It still gets 21mpg on the highway. I had it detailed and it looks fantastic inside and out. I'd keep it but I want a truck with fewer miles so I just bought a 2019 SV 4X4 Crew Cab with 29.5K miles. This is a work truck, having carried a bedfull of split wood from central to SW Virginia two weeks ago. I hope the 2019 Frontier serves me as well!

moved up from 2004 xe
impressions coming from 2004 frontier xe. power. step on the gas like i did on the '04 and the tires would spin. had to learn how to ease down a bit but i like that power. noise in the cabin is greatly reduced, i could actually hear the radio at low volume. the ride is alot smoother as well. comfort level compared to the 04 makes me want to take a nap while driving if thats possible while the older one kept me awake for sure with the wind noise and bumpier ride.
Junk as far as I'm concerned
I bought a 2012 Nissan Frontier SV Crew Cab V6 Four Wheel drive 80000 miles on it and now it's check engine light is on and also the anti skid light didn't have no problems the two years of ownership until now lost faith in this junk and want to get rid of it and buy a Ford like I should have in the first place

5th Nissan pickup
85, 92, 98, 08 and now 2012. The truck may be simple but it's less to break down. It has the SL package with Utility Track system and sprayed in bedliner. Four wheel disc, nice aluminum wheels. Just bought it with 62k miles (low miles). My 08 King Cab had 160k with 2 small repairs when I had it. This truck is tried and true technology, so why change it.

Nissan Frontier 2012
My husband purchased this truck new and it has been a great, dependable truck that still looks good. It's versatile and he just loves it. Our son borrows it every chance he gets its a smooth and comfortable ride for the most part, the back seats are however stiff. At this time it has about 150k miles on it and I think he would buy another. It's been much more dependable than my Chevrolet I tell you. It's great to have someone in the family that has a truck they really do come in handy!

You cannot Beat the midsized Nissan Frontier!
I liked my 2008 Frontier so much that I replaced it with this 2012. Had the '08 not been totaled, I would still be enjoying it today. Strong, durable, dependable, and fairly efficient. This one has a short bed, so it maneuvers better and parks in tighter spaces than the Large cab/long bed version. If you are not hauling big loads often, get the short bed. You can use a bed extender or a trailer on occasion, and enjoy the compact size for everyday use. The Frontier is the best used value in the midsize truck segment because they have good prices, and are more reliable than most of the competition (and many Nissan offerings). I have no regrets in buying this truck, and would like to keep it for many years. Nearly as bullet-proof as a Toyota, but several $K cheaper to buy- especially in the used market.

great little truck
I purchased the base model "s" version in October 2011, although it was considered the 2012 model. Base model, 4 cylinder with 5 speed manual transmission. Only options were air conditioning, and a bed liner. Overall, this was probably the most dependable vehicle I've ever owned. If I remember correctly, the MSRP was $18,500 and I paid $17,500. I'm a do-it-your-selfer and changed the oil every 5,000 miles, put a few batteries in it, one set of Michelin tires from Costco, and had very few repairs. Air conditioner condensor failed at 75,000 miles, and that was all! Sold it with a mere 90,000 miles and it still had the original brakes! Downside....I hauled a 1,000 pound camper in the bed for the first five years or so. While the payload capacity was adequate the 152 HP engine struggled a bit at times. Going forward, I removed the slide-in truck camper and purchased a small pop-up camper weighing in at around 2,000 pounds and the truck performed ok once on the road but struggled at times. Overall, inexpensive to maintain, insure, and purchase. After 12 years of ownership I sold it for about half of what I originally paid when it was new...can't argue with that!

Frontier 2012
This vehicle had us in the shop way too much. Sensor after sensor replaced on this truck Too many issues. And only Nissan parts can be used so they are expensive!!!We will never own a Nissan again.
