2020 Nissan Altima SV AWD

2020 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV 4dr Sedan AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)

This is our 3rd Altima & 6th Nissan. We never buy the 1st model year following a complete new generation. We traded our ' 14 Altima SV with 47Kmi for the new Altima. Love the updates both tech and body style. We opted for the optional wheel upgrade and the convenience pkg. The AWD was a easy decision as our other daily driver is our '19 Rogue SV AWD with the mnrf & wheel pkg. Its our 1st Rogue so we leased it but purchased our Altima as its our 3rd in a row. Had 2 Maximas before the Altimas. I must say the new Altima w/ AWD is Nissan's best sedan option. We considered the SR AWD trim pkg but the SV AWD has the best features with the convenience pkg. Best ride, very spirited acceleration and great handling. The Altima is under-rated as its the most comfortable car we have owned and we've had Infiniti's, Saab's, Volvo's, Honda's and a Toyota Tacoma. Plus a few GM products. We leased for years but after our 1st Altima lease in 2011 we've purchased the last 2 as they're the best sedan available. AWD may be new to the Altima but Nissan's premium brand Infiniti has been selling AWD sedans for years with zero issues, so we have no concerns with the Altima's drivetrain. Once you get use to the new exterior styling that allows the Maxima, Altima, new 2020 Sentra, & Versa sedan all share similar attributes. Nissan enlarged the 2020 Sentra much like Honda did with their Civic, but Toyota didn't enlarge the new Corolla which will hurt it. The 2020 Sentra is similar in size to the 2011 Altima and especially the 1st & 2nd generation Altima. I expect now that we are both retired and spending our winters in FL, we will keep our Altima in FL, but the drive down last month allows me to also share the new Altima is a GREAT road trip car just like the last generation '13-18 Altima having the most comfortable front seats. I know your thinking why buy the AWD version if you're keeping your Altima in FL? Have you ever driven on the interstate during a FL down pour, well we have many times and it provides added piece of mind knowing that all 4 tires with stability control turned on will help keep our Altima headed safely in the correct direction when experiencing hydroplaning. Plus I ordered AWD just in case we decide to drive back to NY in mid-December for the holidays rather than flying. Go for a test drive if you're in the market for a family sedan. Other than the Subaru Legacy, the Accord, Camry, Sonata & Optima don't offer AWD. Plus both our previous '14 & new '20 Altima get better mpg than our neighbors '12 Civic & '17 Elantra including AWD. Make sure to test drive the SV trim pkg Altima as its the volume leading pkg but the 2.5S trim, now the base model is every bit as comfortable as the other trim levels. We always get the middle trim pkg on all our vehicles as we appreciate the extra features but we don't need the SL Platinum pkg besides the SV pkg provides heated seats and you can add a heated steering wheel if desired. We didn't opt for the heated steering wheel but the heated seats are a must have and standard remote start with standard climate control allows me to set the temperature at 70 year around. In the winter it warms up & summer it cools down, all standard with the SV trim. Add the convenience pkg if you want the extras w/o having to put up with leather seats in the summer. Never again. Our 2011 Altima had the SL trim as it was a dealer demo and we got it for less than the SV trim w/convenience pkg. Our Maximas each had cloth. Hoping that AWD will be an option on the Maxima as it would be nice to have another one someday, and maybe a 2.0T will replace the 6cyl as the Altima no longer has the optional 6cyl, but rather a turbo 4cyl. Enjoy your test drive and remember the only other AWD sedan that's not in the $35K+ starting MSRP is the Subaru Legacy and although its a new generation for 22020,the Altima has much more updated styling inside and out. The only complaint I have which may be age related is our Altima doesn't have a CD player but our '19 Rogue does and so does the 2020 Rogue. Check out the next generation Rogue via google. You may want to grab a leftover ' 19 or a '20. It may be like the new Altima was for me, it took about a year to grow on me and now I love the Altima. The new Honda Accord did the opposite. At 1st it was attention grabbing but after a few months I grew to really not care for it. The '93-'97 generation Accord is why we became Nissan customers buying a ' 95 Maxima our 1st Nissan.

Our 2020 Altima SL is simply a fantastic car. Most comfortable seats I've experienced ever. Built well, with no squeaks and rattles. Quiet and composed ride over smooth and rough surfaces. Amazing tech (especially the semi-auto on the highway) with big screen and super easy to use interface. And a smooth, refined engine even when accelerating spiritedly that is getting me 35mpg on my stop-and-commute to and from work. You can tell we're pleased with our decision!

My 2020 Altima

I recently purchased my 2020 Nissan Altima, November 22, 2019. I have to say i am in love with my car. I love how push button start is a standard feature. The CVT transmission gives me great fuel economy & i gives me an exceptional smoothing ride. I literally do not feel the gears shift because it’s continuously variable. Also, i love the redesign V shape grille starting in 2019. That is the first exterior feature that drew me to wanting this Altima. My seats are comfortable and i get great gas mileage driving to and from work. The Altima also has 8 inch info screen that sits in the dash. The back seat has enough room for my daughter’s car seat and 2 other people. They seat comfortably. I have to say i found it online, went to the dealership with stock number and walked away with the exact car i had been looking at. So far, i am really satisfied.

Altima SR terrific car!

As a lifetime buyer if used cars I decided to look for a new car and I read and looked at many in this same category of cars. I’ve owned 2 BMW 7 series, a Jag XJ6 and several Cadi’s, all great cars but costly to maintain in the long run. I then bought a primo condition Low mileage Maxima, loved it for the 10 years and 130000+ miles I drove it. So deciding to go with a more ‘traditional’ type of sedan, I still wanted something sporty and a good performer! I love my new SR! The design inside and out is sharp and the extras like blind spot detection, emergency braking and other safety related features are state of the art. The car is quick and accelerates nicely, holding steady at passing speeds. It responds quickly, steering is tight and responsive and it hugs turns very nicely. The interior is nice and spacious and great looking. My car is light gray with a black interior with orange accent stitching! Looks so sharp! I haven’t driven it in snow but with many decades of snow and ice driving behind me and a believer in good snow tires I’m more than sure it will meet my expectations there as well! They also offer an AWD version for those who prefer that! I love a great looking responsive car and this Altima SR meets both nicely!

With safety features all the rage, the notices can become overwhelming to the point of annoyance. So I was happy to discover that some notices can be turned off, like lane departure. Yes, I am changing lanes, I don't need a lane departure notice for that! Off it goes! The anti-front collision warning is exactly that - a warning. This is good since I've driven rental cars with active front collision avoidance that activate the brakes and/or disable the accelerator when some idiot pulls into my lane and I try to drive around him. Some notices require that I push a button on the streering wheel to make it go away. That can get annoying. It is odd that for a car with so much to offer in terms of features, it did not come with a display mode that would show me the average and instantaneous Miles Per Gallon. The gas fillup warning turns on at 75 miles from empty. I would have preferred it be at the 50 mile mark with an icon on the dashboard, rather than a warning that needs to be acknowledged, and once acknowledged, reduces to an icon on the dashboard. I sought out some of the creature comfort features that are on this model: heated seats, heated steering wheel, remote start and keyless entry. All of these are desirable since I live where it snows. The keyless entry / engine immobilizer were items missing from my former car. Cruise control is nice but a bit confusing to use. Moonroof is meh. Since the glass in the moonroof cannot be tilted up from the rear to improve airflow, I don't see the appeal. The back-up camera and the blind spot warnings are nice touches. The controls on this car are a nice balance of manual controls and touch screen controls. Most entertainment related controls are on the 7 in, I think, touchscreen. The A/C, heating, heated seats, heated steering wheel, temperature setting and fan speed are all controlled with knobs or rocker switches. No need to drill down to some sub-menu on the touch screen to adjust the blower speed. I like the 2.5L engine, but the CVT transmission that it is mated to makes performance sluggish. I manage about 32 mpg around town. Thankfully, this car does not use stop-start technology, which I find tiring after a while. Handling is excellent. This car really hugs the road with minimum swaying during turns. My car came with an emergency spare tire - a donut. A 90 day trial of SiriusXM was included, but I doubt I will subscribe. The SiriusXM app would display ads and try VERY hard to get me to join contests to the point of controlling the app screen. Some of the recommended channels were just weird. In my opinion, this is unacceptable, so I ended up uninstalling the app after 2 weeks. The satellite radio experience in the car is much better unless you're driving under a bridge or driving next to a tall building, then the audio is interrupted. Overall, I am pleased with this car.

I've officially had the 2020 Nissan Altima SR AWD for one month now, and I could not be more pleased. Even though it is a 4-cylinder, it still has zip and gets great gas mileage. As an added bonus, the AWD does incredible in the snow! The interior has nice touches compared to the base model and the suite of safety features is an amazing value for the price. I was previously driving a 2009 Nissan Maxima and this vehicle is all-around better. Overall, the 2020 Altima aims to please. UPDATE: After owning the Altima for over 1 year, I am still as happy as day one. I’ve never had any problems with it and it is still so much fun to drive. I plan on keeping the car for a very long time!

My 2017 Maxima was coming off lease, so it was off to my local Nissan dealer for a successor. The 2020 Altima has similar styling to the Maxima (as will the new 2020 Sentra). I went for the Altima SR version because of the sportier suspension and 19 inch wheels. The 2.5 engine has enough power, so other than doing burnouts, I don't really miss the 300 horsepower of the Maxima. The Altima has a better infotainment center, a better ride ( in spite of 40 profile tires) and handles better than the Max. The interior style and materials of the Max are more upscale than the Altima (hey the Max costs ten grand more!). Overall, very satisfied. The Sunset Drift color really sets the car off, a benefit being it's easier to spot in the parking lot. I cheaped out and didn't get the premium package, but all I really miss is the dual control temperature controls.

We traded our 15 Altima with 108,000 miles for this 20 Altima. I wish we didn't. The 20 has less power, feels way to light, less responsiveness, it has rattles, the rear speaker sounds blown, the screen keeps going black, the stereo volume doesn't work sometimes. I'm making an appt but I'm sure they will find nothing wrong with it. Buyers remorse.

California 18 from Lucerne Valley to San Bernardino might be the ultimate road test, and an Altima SL 2.5 passed with the cement plant at 60mph with flying colors. Decsending to San Bernardino the Altima held the road firmly. The seats were supportive around the nonstop curves, even at high speed.

Great car. Love the suspension and 19" wheels. Great on dry and wet roads. Corners FLAT. But it is horrible in the snow. Have to really leave a lot of following distance. Going to trade it for a 2020 SR AWD. The 2020 adds the adaptive cruise control which I don't have and also automatic collision braking. The car is quiet and has great brakes. I was in an accident in a 2019 SR rental car and other than getting hit in the face with the airbag, I survived without injury or need for medical attention. CVT transmission with the 2.5 engine is a little sluggish, but I'd rather have the great mileage than being able to burn rubber off the line. Tons of storage space in the trunk and back seat. Love the style of this car. Takes synthetic oil so oil changes are around $75.

So I bought a brand new altima two weeks ago on Saturday. As soon as I drive it off the lot, it shook, I called the dealer. He asked me to put air in the tires, since it might have been sitting on the lot, and also that I might have to break the tires in, anyways car still was very shaky, so I brought it in as soon as I can, which was that Monday, since they were closed sunday. So they managed to squeeze me in, did a wheel balance or something, told me it was good. I drove it for a day, yeah nomore heavy shaking, but definitely alot of trembling and a weird bounce on unsmooth roads. So I call and they schedule me for next Tuesday to check it out and "fix" it. Well I get it back, the trembling is minimal but definitely still their, and the bounce is also still noticeable. I call back and they tell me it's normal and that they checked everything out. So hmm, if this is how a nissan altima drives...then it's one of the worse cars I've driven. Which isn't the case since I did a test drive on the same model. Which now makes no sense... my next option would be to contact corporate. Which a disappointment...

I have owned a couple of Altima’s in the past, but hands down this 2020’ NISSAN ALTIMA-SR is by far the best in drive quality, comfort, handling and overall interior/exterior design. Despite the 19” tires, the quiet ride and also the handling is very impressive.I love the overall feel of this car and I would highly recommend it to others. Test-drive it and I assure you that you won’t be disappointed, in my opinion the ride of this car is even better than a Toyota Camry ( I have owned that as well ).

This Altima SL has the tried and true standard 2.5 liter 4 cylinder with front wheel drive only. On a trip to San Antonio from NY and back, the average mpg was 42.1, cruising at 80 to 85 mph and fully loaded with luggage and people. It is the very best auto I have ever owned. The controls are excellent, the handling is superb and it is smooth to operate. The Bose radio is the best and the seating is really comfortable. The only flaw I saw was the passenger seat is to low and my wife was uncomfortable seeing forward because of this. She is 5'6" tall. I purchased 3" spacers and new bolts to raise it up to the drivers level and that fixed that problem. This auto has not had even one problem that needed fixing. Just start her up and drive. I highly recommend this vehicle due to it's overall fit and finish, and is a pleasure to drive locally or on the thruway.

Sleek design, roomy interior, smooth ride, paddle shifters, fast and safe. I’ve had fords, chevys, Pontiac’s, Cadillac, Bmw, Volvo, etc and even though she’s small, she’s nasty🥰 hadn’t even realized I’ve had her a year and a half already!

When trying out a 2020 Altima I continually bumped my head getting in and out of the backseat. I'm 6'0" and also discovered that when sitting in the back, my head scrapes against the roof. I told my wife not to hit any bumps because I might compress a vertebrae.

My Nissan is a nice car. The interior is pretty basic yet it has everything I expect/need any car to have. (eg. rear reverse camera, Bluetooth, blind spot signals, trunk space, back seat space, smooth ride, and reliability, etc.). Pros: -The drive is so smooth and comfortable -The interior isn’t so bad. It’s actually pretty sleek and nice and has all the technology one can expect within a vehicle. -steering is smooth also. -great alignment -Great on gas -the optical range of the rear camera is up to speed of what is to be expected. -compact yet has a nice trunk size and plenty of room for passengers. -the standard safety and technology package is also up to speed on what is to be expected on a modern vehicle. -good reputation for lasting and being reliable. -smooth breaking -price is pretty average compared to most vehicles of its class; so, the engine, technology, features and design is of good quality. Cons: - power and acceleration is a bit slower compared to most standard 4 cylinder vehicles. Over all, it’s a nice car and has a reputation to last.

I always heard these were good cars so thought I would give them a try. First of all, the base S model is very bare bones. In order to get some nice driver assist options, aluminum wheels and other convenience items, you have to get the SR. Now you are looking at $28,000 list price. You can't get red, you have to pay extra for maroon, that's not red. The only interior color is black. I hate black upholstery, its hot in the summer! So I compare to the Hyundai Sonata, same basic size car. They both have a 2.5 liter engine, but the CVT transmission in the Altima seems to be looking for a gear and is annoying. Sonata has an 8 speed transmission with a stop/go feature. Its also offered with a turbo engine with about 30% more horsepower The SEL gives you all the package offered by the Altima SR and more. Parking assist, lane departure, remote start and all at a lower price. It is available with tan or gray upholstery in addition to black. And the Calypso Red color is no charge. Add a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty and 10 year 100K mile drive train warranty and Hyundai wins. Also, with some "horse trading" with the dealer, it sells for $2500 less. Both cars have a $2000 rebate now. Hyundai wins in my book.

I have owned 6 Nissan Vehicles since 1992 including 4 Altimas. I got rid of my 2017 Altima with the help of the dealer and $1000 from Nissan (which is pathetic.) I had a clunking in the trunk when I went over a bump which they could never solve and surface rusting after 2 years in the rain channel around the trunk. I received my 2020 Altima Platinum in December 2020. After 1.5 years I noticed rusting around the spot weld on the trunk lid. You could see where there was lack of paint in that area. This will develop into a major problem on the trunk within a couple of years. I am still waiting for the dealer to repair same under warranty although once rust has started, it will become a cancer for the lid. The back up camera is almost useless in the sunlight as it is not bright enough. I have purchased my last Nissan as the quality has gone down during the last few years. Mechanically, the car is fine so far but I only have driven the vehicle 25,000 km. 2025-06-06: I have now owned the vehicle for 4.5 years and have had no mechanical problems, I have noticed no rust in the trunk area since the dealership repainted the trunk lid and the rain channel. The rusting is something that Nissan did not address. I have examined a 2022 model with the same problem. I am not sure if this is only happens with a white paint job.

I had this 2021 Nissan Altima while I was on a business conference in palm beach county. I was expecting a maxima but was pleasantly downsized due to customer demand. :/ After getting the Altima I realized it lacked severely in many categories. For one , it had no automatic climate control ! Hello ! it’s Florida and it’s HOT it’s 2023 I would think all 2021 cars came with automatic climate control seeing as my daily is a 2010 a4 with automatic climate control being a standard option. Nonetheless I trudged foward and noticed right away that this is a seriously underpowered car. After looking up how to disable the traction control (since it’s not a button anymore on altimas ) and a quick pull determined my suspicions were correct. No matter what way I drove this car it was never going to be quick. After giving up and driving the car the way it’s supposed to be driven I was presently surprised to see that it was a great commuter. Sure it’s no turbocharged German pocket rocket but once that cvt gets up in the high Rev range it keeps pulling and eventually you’re up to speed with the rest of civilization. One thing I did absolutely love about the Altima was it’s fuel efficiency! I didn’t have to put anywhere near the amount of gas my audi takes on a daily venture in this Altima. I filled it once and was still good and full half way through the week without being light on the pedal. The suspension was bouncy but no complaints in that department. One thing nissan does best is make the best stereo, the Apple CarPlay made listening to music so easy with it having wireless CarPlay, although it did stop working for me halfway through the trip and had to resort to plugging it in with a cord. The automatic braking feature is such a thing to brag about ! I didn’t even realize the car had it until it stoped for me when reversing into my hotels parking spot! I’m so used to eyeballing it every-time I park so having that reminder not to get too close was really awesome and kind of scary at first but totally worth getting used to. Not a bad car I just wish Nissan got rid of that god awful cvt I know it would be a real character with an actual transmission with drive modes.

Carplay is a requirement for me to purchase

I have been driving an Altima rental for almost 2 weeks while my truck is the shop. It is the low end trim model, but it is comfortable. The car is a little under powered when starting out on an incline, but acceptable. The car is getting great gas mileage. The car easily sits 4 adults. I like the key-less entry and remote start, it gives the glimmer of hope of nice electronics. The entertainment system seems to be the weak link. There is a nice big display right there. I see the USB port and connect my iPhone with a cable to just have basic phone and iPod functions. You know the ones that were available on a 2012 basic model Toyota. So a pretty decent car if you don't want be able to see your maps on the nice display. So my message to auto manufactures: I will NOT buy any vehicle that doesn't include Android Auto or Apple Carplay. It is just not Nissan losing at this game. Toyota is guilty too. I don't want to regret my vehicle purchase ever time I get into my car. There was a time it would be an easy upgrade to install an aftermarket sound system. But that seems far from the case now. There already is a nice display installed. Give me a way to enable Carplay. I would pay a reasonable amount to unlock that feature. But now I would just have years of a less than optimal experience if I purchase this model.

An average car, just got worse after "redesign"

Sam Kingg, 06/22/2020

2017 was probably the best year for family sedans, but how was I supposed to know? Toyota killed the very comfortable camry with their 2018 redesign, which turned it into a back-breaker with stiff ride and super uncomfortable seats. Altima gets 2 stars because nissan did not quite kill it with the 2019 redesign, but made it worse than a 2018 altima. Altima does drive much better than a new camry (which I have driven as rental car). Altima has stronger passing power on highway and better uphill drive than a camry on account of its good low end torque. Front seats are narrower than those of 2018 altima by about one inch, which makes them much less comfortable (reduced side support) than the older altima- example of Nissan cutting corners. Lumber support is not standard except for the highest trim, which is why I chose to buy the base model - why pay thousands more for an equally uncomfortable car? So, ended up with this altima because: 1. could not find my first choice- a new Ford Taurus 2. the new camry gives me back pain in 10 minutes 3. Altima has the best drivetrain power delivery among cars of this class and price. 4. wanted to get a sedan before MORE REDESIGNS destroy them fully. Did NOT trade in my 8 year old Camry because it is still WAY MORE comfortable to sit and drive than any of these new junky cars. I am sure my old camry will outlast the new altima!!

This 2020 Altima was a rental vehicle for a weekend getaway the vehicle had 10k miles on the odo, the vehicle had dash and interior rattles, the check engine light came on a few hours into the trip, the car is very noisy and the drive line vibration is very annoying, only plus was the fuel mileage, the steering wheel controls and infotainment system was difficult to use, I'll definitely never rent a nissan again

I got the car for its look and technology comes with it. It drives and performs like a dream. Tons of technology. If you like technology this car is for you. But very bad 👎 in gas ⛽ when you drive in town. If you are looking for good gas consumption this is not the car for you. 50 liters tank won't give you more than 400km in town. On highway it gives about 6 liters for every 100km. Other than gas mileage this is an amazing car in every way.

I just came back from a Nissan dealership looking to buy an SR, SL or Platinum. The salesman said the interior stitching only comes in the color orange for the SR models. The orange looks great if it goes to an orange painted car exterior. But the stitching doesn't blend well with other exterior car colors....Disappointed :(

This model year is OK for car prices. The gas mileage is great and true to all reviews. The engine could use more power, but is acceptable for the gas mileage return. The interiors are great, but could use some updates. The new models seem to be leaning this way. The windshield design poor quaility do to the automaker using a thinner engineered glass. Glass can crack with high speed impacts. Overall a good car with relability. Just maintain the car.
