Ok, I am the 2nd owner of this Monty. Bought it with 40k on it and now have about 150k! It's been an awesome and reliable truck! It's got a lot of character both with regards to interior and exterior. Its an awesome offroad truck and handles well in the snow. Gas mileage is decent for a truck of its size but its no hybrid! 15/18 mpg. I've driven this truck since 01 and will likely continue until it dies!

I bought this truck when it was one year old with 20,000 miles on it from Enterprise Car Sales. In the 9 years I have had it, it has proven to be the most reliable car I have ever owned (better than a Toyota, Honda, and Acura). Only minor problems. You expect to replace some of the accessories (belts, pullies, alternator, ets) eventually. I now have 275,000 miles on it, and still my daily drive to work car and weekend have fun in car. I am now getting concerned about the high mileage, and am looking to buy another Montero, probably a slightly newer SR with low mileage. This truck is smaller on the outside (except for height) and gets better gas mileage than my wife's Acura Legend.

The best SUV I drive among Explorer, Troper, Blazer, 4 Runner, Pathfinder and many more in this class.

Have had vehicle for 3 1/2 years since 47,704 miles and currently has 103,486 miles. Not only have we had no major problems but the vehicle has seen very little regular maintenance outside of oil changes and I'm not neurotic about every changing it every 3000 miles. Only repair has been a passenger side window regulator. Has been difficult keepig factory chrome rims in balance.
I'll keep it until it stops running!

I bought my Montero used. It had one owner prior to myself and that was a lease vehicle. I have burned the highway completely up in this vehicle hauling my sons to every soccer tournament imaginable up and down the east coast. I love this vehicle. The only drawback to owning this vehicle is the high cost for insurance and maintenance. Repairs to a Monty are expensive mainly due to the high cost for parts and the design features which make repairs labor intensive. All in all, I will drive this vehicle until it won't drive anymore because I love it that much.
