A Real Treat!

Jaymo, 01/18/2019
2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 300 2dr Coupe (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 7A)

C300 Coupe with Brilliant Blue on 19" wheels is a real treat! Wish they had a performance exhaust option for this 2.0 Liter turbo though (does for CLA). The interior is just perfect and despite having backseats do not fool yourself; only a child is getting back there. Burmester stereo is great and easily drowns out low road noise. The Dynamic Selection is really good, especially using Sport + on back rural roads where the car comes alive. Very stable over high speeds....decent shifts with paddle shifters too. At times I do wish I sprung for the V6 (C43) but this 4 banger is not bad at all and keeps fuel costs down. Right now fuel (93 OCT) runs about $41 a tank and I gas up weekly (work commute).

Absolute pleasure to drive

Traded in my 2014 C250 coupe. This is my second C300 sedan. Wow! This car is so nice to drive. Quiet, composed, sporty when you want it to be. I've gotten so many compliments on how beautiful the car is. I didn't get the larger wheels because I wanted the ride to be as soft as possible. Added the $5000 package and it has all the luxury i need. Seats are extremely comfortable, Steering is concise and light. Gear shifts using the paddles are immediate. Fuel economy is pretty good. Averaging 27 mpg combined. If I had one complaint it would be the back seats. They are a bit uncomfortable. Sit a an odd angle and I didn't really feel comfortable in them. Not that I care, really. It's all about the driver seat and that is superb!

Honeymoon's Over

DMP2, 11/12/2021
2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 300 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 7A)
12 of 13 people found this review helpful

I purchased my C300 in July of 2017. Mercedes asked for a review right way, in the honeymoon phase of ownership. After 4 years of ownership, here is my feedback for Mercedes. You have over-engineered this car in ways that just don't work. 1. Placement of the radio swivel knob on the console means every time you grab a drink, you change the station. 2. Placement of the automatic gear shift on the steering column, if you have a 2nd car, means when you reach for the wipers, you risk putting the car in neutral at 65 mph on a highway. 3. Conversely, you can't move the car out of park unless the driver door is shut and your foot is on the brake; therefore, quick backups for an extra few inches in the garage or a parking space are a thing of the past. 4. Rear wheel drive is great for controlled situations, like race tracks, but not for driving in weather. I’d choose safety over JNDs in handling any day of the week. 5. The run flat tires last less than 20,000 miles, are expensive to replace and there is no spare, no jack and no place for either in the car. For a touring car like the C300, you should assume the driver will be more than 50 miles from a city (range for a run flat tire) and need a spare. 6. When I did have a flat and called for roadside assistance, they told me it was only available during regular hours. Car was marketed as 24/7 roadside assist. 7. HD radio has very limited stations; for another 80 cents, just add an AM/FM option so we can dial into local information stations or listen to a ballgame 8. The car is noisy. It seems the windows don't seal quite shut so there is a constant "whooshing" of air sound. We bought the car new and it was never in an accident, so this is a production issue. 9. The paint nicks/chips easily. My previous 3 cars looked better after 10 years than this one does after 4 years. 10. Bluetooth navigation for music players is not user friendly. 11. The car sits too low to the road so it is easy to hit even the lowest parking curb. 12. The glove box is too small. What I do like about the car is 1. Comfortable, luxurious interior. 2. Rearview camera 3. Split folding rear seats 4. Collision/blind spot assist warnings 5. Programmable memory for driver's seat, steering column and side mirrors. 6. Gas mileage is better than other gasoline powered cars I’ve owned.

2017 C 300 Cabriolet

George, 05/15/2018

We test drove many convertibles and decided that the Merc would fit our lifestyle best of cruising in luxury with the options to steer or accelerate quickly when needed. The dealership experience was great and the dealer's representatives were very helpful. We looked online nationally for a specific color and trim in a sport model that included warranty on a low mileage late model car. Torque on the 4 cylinder turbo is excellent as we were accustomed to driving a 2004 Nissan 350z with 280+ hp. The electronics require some study but the learning is quick and the controls are intuitive. This vehicle had the sport trim with 19 AMG wheels and most of the options but did not include Distronic , Park Assistance, which we would have happily paid for but could not find in our color....... I suggest that a potential buyer view the Carfax carefully for clear title and repairs ....... Ask lots of questions and confirm with Mercedes Customer Service.

love the engine, hate the tires

I bought the car with run flat tires, as their is not space for a spare tire. the tires are a really rough ride and they "pop" easily over the least little bump. 2017 driver front tire AND WHEEL replaced due to hitting a bump in the road, car had less than 1500 miles on it. 2018 passenger front tire replaced hit a bump on the freeway only 4000 miles on car 2019 rear driver side tire, wheel and tire had to be replaced 7500 miles on car, as you can see the car was not driven very much, as I never felt secure on these tires. so in May of 2020 I replaced all 4 run flat tires with 4 of the best Michelin I could find for the car. car now has a very smooth ride.

MB does not provide a tire jack and wrench with these new models because they come with run-flat tires. If this is your first MB, even though the concierge explains all the features to you when you pick up the car, it's hard to remember everything he/she says. Read your owner's manual and refer to the MB online vidoes on how to operate certain features of the car.

The Ultimate "Later In Life" Luxury Coupe

With so Many Mid Life Crisis Cliche' Coupes out there ~ Finally, the C300 fits the bill for Discerning Adult who has moved on beyond the Laughable Cliche' Coupes: Corvette, Camaro, Mustang, Challenger ~ Move over for the " Grown Up " in the Room. The 241 HP Turbo 4 won't give you whiplash, which helps in a Daily Drivable Luxury Coupe. Just enough Ooomph to keep you engaged, and a Look that says you've gotten to a point for the finer things in Life. If you need to carry more than 1 other person and loads of gear, get a 4 door SUV / CUV ~ they're out there and dominate the Road-scapes today. Classy Coupes, they're a rare and dying breed, and the C300 spews Class and Subtly states that is a Special Car on the road. Classic ~ Timeless ~ Pure Mercedes Coupe Status exudes from every angle and viewpoint from it's sexy exterior and especially from the well crafted interior over looking the long hood that appears to hiding a much larger power plant than the Gas Pump Friendly In Line 4. The 17 plus gallon Fuel Tank and 30 MPG Highway means that Fill Ups are far and few between compared to the Cliche' Gas Guzzling Counterparts. The AMG Line Trim Package and rear deck spoiler on my Iridium Silver adds just enough "Sport" to balance out the stately vibe the C300 / 4 Matic badged attractive hind flanks gives off. What a perfect blend of so many desirable traits wrapped up in one remarkable Coupe. Needless to say, I'm a Big Fan and so completely satisfied with every aspect of the C300 Coupe.

Steep learning curve for the instruments in general and navigation system in particular. Wish they had just used CarPlay, which has native smart phone integration. Programming the nav while driving is extremely distracting. Voice recognition is terrible. Lacks alternate route capability. No advice on traffic avoidance. I do like the freeway advices on services available at oncoming off ramps, but google maps or apple maps are much better. Headrests are superb -- all the other cars these days have head rests far too forward in response to recent federal standards, including the E-class, giving me a pain in the neck just sitting in the parking lot. But the seats are VERY firm. Park bench firm, and not comfortable for long drives. Steering and handling are very light and precise. Fold-down seats make for cavernous cargo capacity. I lost $10,000 in resale value the first year, which is ridiculous, as this car seems like it's built to last forever and is very high quality. After a little over two year, the car is worth half of what I paid for it new, even considering the $5,000 end of model year discount.

Could improve technology features, should have more bells & whistles for price. Sport package should come with more features considering the price bump it adds. Like it but not over the moon about it and feel that I'm paying much more than I should be for what I got. Was also pushed into this specific vehicle with a lot of false promises and inaccurate information which is extremely upsetting and I will never go back to that dealership again.

Bought this car to replace my 2014 W204 which was a good car but way behind in style and technology. This car comes standard with a lot of nice feature rich items for safety and technology. I am very impressed with the style of this car, it has definitely turns head especially in my coupe version. I have had zero problems so far with this car but that does not surprise me since the W204 had zero issues as well. I drive my cars pretty hard but it doesn't seem to phase the Benz. Overall I am very happy with the design and comfort of the interior as well as the features this car has to offer. I do wish they offered over the air software updates because the system is starting to age. Very reliable car though, and although it's no C63 or C43 it is plenty powerful for day to day use. Great car especially if you can get it used for a deal.

Mpg 34hwy 25city Repairs none Mileage 26,000 miles This is my second Mercedes both have been great cars, but this coupe is beautiful, a flowing piece of art, smooth and nimble on the road, the back seats are unusable accept for something you throw back there like a jacket or the empty can of Dr Pepper. The gearshift I don’t like, but driving it down the back roads all is forgiven lol. I really like this car..and if you’re single or a couple you will too, don’t get one if you have kids and this is your only transportation..get some kinda 4dr.

Purchased new in ‘17 we still love our 2017 C300 Cabriolet 4matic. The perfect top down car it handles well and in sport mode Aquits itself nicely. While service at the dealership is not cheap we have not had to make any major repairs yet. My only complaint is that the gasket between the front and rear windows pinches and deforms when raising the glass. It hasn’t leaked yet but is a concern. I love this car as a Sunny Day ride. 2024 update- Still loving this car. Technology is getting outdated, no CarPlay or android and no Supercruise but still drives and looks great.

It has excellent acceleration & is very comfortable to drive, but the interior of the car is poorly designed. The center console controls many functions of the car. But if you slightly touch or bump the round knob on the console, you can unintentionally suddenly change the radio station, or the navigation, or the phone settings. Basically, many of the controls for the car is located on the console. Also, the turn indicators & windshield wipers are on the same lever handle. Often you accidentally turn the wiper on when you wanted to turn left. The gear shift is located on the steering column which are not in many cars . I just found that the placement of some of these features were very frustrating to relearn. When I automatically reached for something I realized, uh oh, I just bumped my hand on something & now the radio station suddenly switches or I would grab one of the handles on the steering column & all of sudden the wipers would start. It's just annoying & for this reason, I would never get another Mercedes unless they change the interior design of these controls of the car.

As above, a 62,000 dollar car the motor blows up. The new 9 speed transmission shifts hard and horribly painful.... The transmission needs to be in sports mode all the time just so the car is safe to drive (4 cylinder) I just traded it in for a BMW.... after 20 years of MBZ ownership. Bought the car used 2 months old with 200 miles on it...

I love my new C43, its 4 days old and cant get enough. I dont really listen to music anymore so that I can hear the exhaust and engine noise(AMAZING!!!) Sounds like a mini Ferrari (coming from cousins who own many Ferrari's) The only thing I was shocked at was not having the touch pad and 8.3 inch screen as standard equipment, thats a must for a $62,000 car.

The one big flaw on this car may seem petty to some, but to me it's a big deal. You cannot adjust the sun visor when using it on the side. For some ignorant reason, Mercedes removed the "sliding" feature which allowed one to move the visor forward or backward based on the sun's position. To me this is a safety issue and a big mistake. I hope they correct it or I will look for a different manufacturer next time.

Beautiful, fast vehicle, Violent gear shifts when gunning it with AMG Performance Exhaust which is a must have option. Heads up display is also a useful option. AMG Performance seats uncomfortable after a long road trip, but they otherwise feel and look great. Dislikes are small rear seats and small trunk. 2019 and after have a facelift and different exhaust note which I don't like as much.

I own the 2017 coupe and the ride is harsher than the sedan but not that bad. I compared it to BMW 4 Series, Audi A4, Lexus ES and the Cadi ATS. I am picky about details and ended up with the C300 Coupe Edition 1 with the flat mango paint. The ride was quieter and the interior blew away the competition. If you are not conscious about taking extreme caution with you are and the paint, DO NOT buy the mango flat paint. It is durable but once you scratch or rub it too hard, it will shine some and then there is NO WAY to get it back to matte without basically painting the whole side of the car. The run flat tires are terrible. I do have some front end noise and not sure if it is from the tires or wheel bearings, only 25,000 miles. The interior is absolutely stunning and gas mileage is incredible. Some what of a fun car to drive and it gets quite a bit of attention. This is probably because of the matte finish. This is my first MB and a little concerned about future reliability but I'm really easy on my cars so hopefully it will be good to me. Still under warranty and the dealership is incredible.

I bought a c300 coupe about a year ago and I just sold the car a few days ago, this car is so unbelievably beautiful and the interior matches, everyone I showed the car absolutely loved it, I bought mine when it was already 6 years old and had 60k miles so I wasn’t expecting it to be perfect, but I had gone from a 1999 Lexus ls400 before this that had over 150k miles and that car was built so solid and held up amazing in the 23 years, I cannot say the same for the c300, this car is unbelievable rough on any type of road, grinds going into reverse, shifts like it’s about rip its out apart, and rattles itself to pieces going over 65 miles per hour, if you touch any part of that interior with any amount of pressure it will crack and make a horrible noise. As comparison, I just replaced it with a used Kia soul and somehow it feels 10 times more well built, obviously the Kia soul is hideous but it’s at least well made and feels solid, other than the interior quality the car looked brand new even after I put another 15k miles on the car, I had to replace a piece of the interior that was this aluminum looking piece that was just plastic with a vinyl wrap, but from the heat started to peel off completely but I could cheaply replace it and it was fine.

Before one leases from Mercedes, check each of the individual items they sell to unsuspecting buyers like prepaid maintenance etc.

Slow overpriced junk! I can’t believe I leased this box on wheels. Ugh. This is my third and most likely last Mercedes. The gears change too easily also and it’s dangerous. It barely fits in my garage. Why is it so much longer, slower and wider than my old one? It’s too bad I leased. Maybe someone will steal it!

This is the best 4matic coupe with or without loaded options: 0-60 in 4.1 seconds, Google: 2017 Benz coupe C43 Car&Driver and read it for yourself. The C43 4matic coupe is faster to 60 mph, 30-50 mph, 60-80 mph than the Lexus RCF which has a V8 non turbo engine and stops better than the new Infiniti Q60 coupe. Real men drive high performance German and Italian cars not Japanese and American cars unless they can't afford the G or I automobiles. The 2019 C300 and C43 coupes and sedans have been refreshed to include standard LED lights, advanced LED headlights, new rear taillights, new full functional steering wheel, new integrated push to start/stop system, new rims, new instrument cluster, new tighter suspension and new front grille/ lower fascia.

This car is super outstanding in every way. It’s extremely powerful and fast for only a 4 cylinder but the turbo makes certain no power is lost. This car is good on gas mileage it will run forever. And is small but roomy, simple but luxurious. If your older and want style you got it, if you are younger and want fun, fast and furious you got it. It is easy to maintain, easy to drive and pack a punch. I would get this car again and again. I have almost 140k miles on it and it has never seen the inside of a shop. Do the routine maintenance, and this car will go forever!!
