I was coming off owning a '98 Ford Explorer and owning a 2004 Honda S2000 as my 'fun' car. Took the Explorer in for a funny noise, got a $3,800 estimate and realized it was time to put the Ford out of it's misery. The Honda wasn't going to cut it for daily stuff and I still wanted either a station wagon or an SUV, but was really tired of the 15 mpg that the Ford got. Looked at the Outback and the Escape, but was blown away by the CX-5. Without repeating what everyone else has said, I'll leave you with this: The CX-5 AWD with the 2.5 liter Skyactiv engine is 90% of the utility of the Explorer and 95% of the fun of driving the Honda. I love this SUV/car/CUV vehicle!

Wife bought the 1st gen CX-5 GT AWD. I loved to drive it except it was slightly underpowered. When Mazda introduced the 2.5L 184 HP engine, I went and bought my own Touring AWD. Love this car. Agile and fast for it's class. Can take a turn like a sports car. Excellent gas mileage for a vehicle it's size. I've never gotten under 25MPG. Cargo room is plentiful. I've taken on some rough forest roads and the car performs like a rally car. BOSE stereo is excellent. The only negative I would give to the CX-5 is road noise. It's not 'bad' but seems like it could be quieter. I understand 2016 model has improved this. Installed my own factory Nav unit for $400.00. Took 10 minutes.

This car is my wood-burning stove. I’ve put 200,000 miles on it in 3.5 years. Only problems were an ignition switch replacement and handbrake replacement. Other than standard maintenance, one battery replacement, and a belt replacement (all done according to schedule), this car has not needed anything. My riders are always shocked it has so many miles. I get about 24-32 MPG. And I do a LOT of driving—Pittsburgh, Ocean City, DMV (DC), and cross-country.. This car can be truly driven.

I've bought my 2013 CX-5 in 2012. So I have 13 months on the car now. I drive 5 days a week 60 miles round trip and average 30 mpg. I drive half city and half highway. I wanted a vehicle that saved me money on gas and had the height I needed to drive on the Houston roads when it rains and floods. It has made me feel very safe with the sensors in the side mirrors and I truly believe all car makers should make this feature a standard feature on all makes and models in the future. This has saved me on a daily basis from running infront of other cars when I could not see them and it also alerts me when another car is near by. I love the fact it has 6 airbags. Great car, easy handling.

My wife previously owned a 2010 3 hatchback. We loved that car. I loved that car even though I am 5'10", and 220 pounds, I fit comfortably in that car. But my wife wanted something bigger, and when the CX-5 came out it was the perfect choice for her. I like the CX-5, but wonder where the memory seats went? Mazda please explain the silly logic of eliminating memory seats??? The 2013 3 had them. My wife being 5'4", and me being 5'10", you can understand my dilemma. My wife's GT has everything, rain-sensing wipers, rear camera, Smart-Assist Braking, Bose, navigation, but no memory seats!!!! Not an option on the CX-5. It is her car, but I picked the color: Solar Red. Gas mileage so-so
