Purchased this vehicle based on the quite and superb ride, allowing me a respite from work on my daily commute. I am not disappointed, muted and composed ride along with the most comfortable drive are fantastic. Mileage is better then stated and Lexus dealer service is off the charts. After driving SUV’s for so long was not sure if a sedan would be a good choice, but it was. Fit and finish is top notch and infotainment is not easy to use, but not as bad as most reviews state. Would buy again and again! FWD is fine in winter, simply added snow tires for winters here in Western New York. Lexus Enform app takes it share of criticism, but we find it as good as the app on my wife’s 2019 BMW X-5

Extremely nice ES!

Have had our 2019 ES for over 6 months and this is what I think. Lexus Quality throughout; rides smooth and quiet; sound system is very nice; controls are logical and well placed; fit and finish are very good. I would suggest a few changes however. More front storage space at door side pockets; more wood trim on steering wheel and dashboard; more color coordination eg: if tan interior, then tan dashboard; more “soft touch” surfaces on dashboard areas; an overhead sunglass storage compartment where inside rearview mirror is located. But overall, it is still a very nice car but I’m just remembering my 2005 ES330 had these features but also didn’t have most of the features this new car does. I highly recommend it. Update February 2021: we are waiting to have a recalled fuel pump replaced on this car which I hear may suddenly stall your car. This is part of a recall on Lexus and Toyota cars with a defective part Was enjoying the car before all this and they are slow about fixing it- still waiting for a notice of part to fix my car and until then I cannot use it. They did offer me a free loaner car if I need it while waiting. But I’d rather have the Lexus ES 350 fixed so I can drive it again!

I recently bought a es350 f sport. After reading the reviews I wondered if I’d made a mistake. I just love this car…can’t find anything wrong. Drives and rides great. Even with the Mark Levinson sound system I find no issues. Granted the technology has small learning curve. However I like it. Even the track pad. Great fit and finish. I tend to think forums are for unhappy complainers. Count me as a huge fan of this car. Several months and thousands of miles later and still no complaints. Love the car! Same year later😄

I have a base ES350, and this car is great. I don't have any problems on my speakers or the sound system. The driving experience is very good, very smooth. The interior is very simple and neat. Overall, I really enjoy my ES 350.

I traded my loaded 2014 MB E350 for the ES350. I could not be happier. It is quieter and smoother. You have to realize this car is not for people who like to feel the road, drive fast, push the engine or stuff like that. This is for those of us who miss our father’s Buick. We want a boulevard ride and we don’t want to hear the engine working. I do not notice any issue with the transmission. Merging on the highway is smooth and confident. The dynamic cruise works better than it did in my MB. The complaints about the user interface for all the tech are silly. I am 64 and have no problems with it. One thing that is very nice is the degree with which you can customize the tech to fit your preferences. The car does not have auto parking, but the parking assist with the panoramic view is amazing. Read the manual on that one. It is so good, I find it hard to use my mirrors when backing into a space. The heated and cooled seats work well and if that is not enough, they have a auto setting. That’s right. You don’t need to remember to turn them on or off. They know what you need. Bottom line, if you like BMW, the ES is not your best choice. I wish it had AWD, but FWD is pretty good in snow. 2 weeks later I like it even more. If you like cars that are quiet and comfortable with a posh ride, you'd like the Lexus LS and now you'll also like the Lexus ES. Unlike others here, I like the track pad. I don't want a touch screen. I skimmed the manual and do not find anything confusing about the Enform Infotainment system. I love the huge bright display. I can see it in any lighting condition. It doesn't look like a tablet was clued to the dashboard. I find the ML sound system sounds just fine. If there is a problem in the back seat I don't really care since I'm in the front. The ventilated seats really do cool and even better they turn themselves on when needed. That's huge. The Navigation chooses routes based on traffic which it gets from the cloud. The speech recognition is awesome. I can say "Directions to Best Buy" and it will present the nearest locations and ask me which one. It is natural language so I don't have to remember any keywords. I could have said "Get Directions", "Where is the closest" or "Take me to". The car is super quiet, very easy to steer and smooth brakes. Engine drone and tire noise is minimal. I got mine in the mysterious Atomic Silver and everyone loves it. It has Apple Play and I tried it out, but I prefer the built in system. It's easier to use and it displays instructions in the heads up display. The surround view works in darker places and I feel safer using it than my mirrors. 6 months later I've noticed the interior lighting is very dim compared to other cars. It must be a good car if, 6 months later that's the only 'con' I can come up with.

There's no sound coming from the back speakers. The front grill sits very low which makes it scrub when you go up at steep drive way.

Stereo really is awful

Luxury car enthusiast , 01/13/2023

I purchased this car used back in March. (2022) I wish I had done more research and came here first - all of the stereo reviews are correct; it is brutally awful. I kept the car about 6 months, finally decided to bite the bullet and get rid of it. (Sold it myself, luckily I didn't take "too" much of a loss. Here's the good: The car is beautiful, I love the grill. Smooth, powerful, quiet engine The ride on highway is outstanding The bad: I am a 59 year old man; technology knowledge is probably average. Simply put, controls for stereo, navigation, etc. are too much. I read the manual and learned to perform all features, but my question to Lexus is "why?" It's not necessary. As mentioned earlier, the stereo-it's really bad. Blind spots - I'm getting older, (which doesn't help), but I can't see out of this car. The BSM and cameras help a lot, (they're excellent), but I struggled in fast traffic. (All other vehicles, SUV's & trucks, are getting bigger, this is also part of the problem.) If you can live with the stereo and love a powerful, smooth luxury sedan, this is a great car. It wasn't for me.

This is my 3rd ES. My first F-Sport. You must go with the F-sport! That’s the only way to get the 19 inch wheels but this car is awesome! I love the size of the car, the ride and the look! The 8 speed transmission is so smooth it reminds me of a Mercedes. CarPlay is cool, it eliminates the on and off of Bluetooth. The wireless charger so far is a bad design. I have a iPhone XS Max I cant figure out how to use it but it doesn’t really matter because with car play my phone is always plugged in and charging. The tech and safety is great! When in cruis the car almost drives itself! It will stay in the lane for the most part and brake for you! So far Mpg is 2 mpg less than my 2016 ES but it is a larger car with bigger wheels.

this car is fantastic and have outstanding drive and power quality along with everything else, I am super happy that I made decision to buy this car, I am pretty sure will be very reliable as Lexus always does its job! Wanted to point out to all people who got this car and criticized and bashing non stop due to stereo or other issues, listen up, we all like different things and have own personal taste in stuff, its understandable and should be respected, to each their own of course but there is no need for bashing this car just because we don't like this or that, no car is perfect and never will be but if you don't like it go right ahead and get car u like according your personal choice, we live in whiney society!

Great car, extremely comfortable seats and the sound system is outstanding. Gas mileage is about 21.5 in the city and 24 in mixed driving. The ride is superior, smooth, quiet and makes driving a pleasure. The user interface is pretty quirky — Lexus trademark; but you can work through it and just have to accept that this issue falls on deaf years at Lexus. The dynamic navigation system is outstanding and being it is pulling details from the internet the information is extremely accurate. The engine on this car is smooth as is the shifting. The cooling and heating is automatic and same goes for the seats and steering wheel. The Lexus Enform is nothing special and I just don’t use it or even need it as I use Apple Play as it is far superior. Not sure why Lexus even bothers with it as Enform is archaic and not sure why it even exists. I do prefer the Lexus Navigation system for long road trips but use my Waze or Google maps in the local area. The seats are very comfortable and once you adjust them you can lock them into the memory. Plenty of space in the back for passengers and the trunk is spacious. This is by far the best Lexus ES350 I have owned (07, 14 and now the 2019).

2019 ES 350 - F-Sport - Ultimate Drivng Experience

MH - Florida, 04/20/2019

15 of 52 people found this review helpful

Purchased a fully loaded 350 ES F-Sport an never looked back. Good bang for the buck. In reading other reviews, several owners appear to have issues with the Mark Levinson sound system. On the contrary to their experience, no issue on my end, excellent sound. Car is quiet and if used in the S+ mode, packs a punch. Can't wait until the next redesign will have a turbo charged engine yielding additional HP. FWD works fine for me. Owners that never had a FWD, I can see a getting used to period may be needed. Only issue had in the beginning was the Enform system. Appeared to be a communication problem with the Lexus HQ database, matching it up with my cars "chip", preventing updates to download and upload car info. However, my dealer (Lexus of Clearwater in FL) took care of it and Lexus Corporate generously extended the Enform subscription by 2 years and the maintenance to 3 years free of charge for the "trouble" had. The heads up display needs some work for future models. When driving into the sun and wearing shades, the info is hard to read. One way is to reduce the brightness or change the position of the display but it's inconvenient changing back and forth. Needs improvement for future models. Lexus should take a look at how Mazda does it. Will be talking to the dealer to add a small "patch" or darker tint where the HUD info is located. Should not be too disturbing and if not workable, can always be removed. Touch pad is slightly sensitive but that's what the voice commands are for. Besides, any touch pads are not meant to be fiddled around with while driving. Absolutely love the LFA inspired info screen and steering wheel controls which let you call up any info desired and can partially be customized, especially the center bezel display. Apple Car Play works great and a nice addition Lexus made for the 2019 ES 350. Designer even thought of a slot to drop the phone in an upright position. The one improvement needed for future models is the positioning of the USB ports and a cable track/opening at the bottom of the slot should be added. It is about as good looking as a car can be if someone likes clear lines instead of rounded shapes. If not, go with bland Audi A3, BMW 3-Series or Mercedes A220, which all come with at least an equal or even higher (BMW 3-Series) price tag for the same luxury but either have an inferior engine or poor noise insulation. Recommend summer tires and change in fall to winter or all season tires if not as lucky as I am living in Florida. Do not use run flats as they increase the noise level. It took me time to get used to paddles shifters as it's the first time I have them on my car. Lexus leaves the option using them in a fully automatic shift mode or select the "manual" where the driver has to use the paddles. One way to learn. All in all, a fun car to drive and I recommend the F-Sport version any day.

Great car if you're the driver, wife not so much

If you've been married a while, wifely considerations figure into this decision; at least in some marriages. I thought the car was fine, aside from the tail-light treatment which is bulbous on the side, not flush with the exterior. Don't understand why. Shades of Camry. Not fond of the massive hour-glass grill either. Driving handling is good/great. Seats are similar to a mid-class Benz or Audi. Electronics are current but as others have described it has a strong center bias to the sound you can't adjust away. Borrowed (for an extended test drive) a sport version. My wife has never liked the seats in the Audi A6 (too uncomfortable). She disliked the ES seats about the same (as a benchmark for her, she loves the Lexus LS seats). That (and the massive front grill) was the deal-breaker for her. And, thus me (to maintain marital harmony). Left to my own choices, it would be a strong contender. The MB E-Class also would be, but for a six-cylinder version, it costs a lot more.

I came from a 2006 Mercedes CLK350 and I absolutely LOVE this car. I researched this car for three months before buying it so I know most of the features and the differences between the different trims. I love this car for many reasons: it's super comfortable, extremely quiet and very handsome. My only complaints are that there is no wireless Apple Carplay and no auto-locking if you walk away from the car with it unlocked. I really can't emphasize enough how much I enjoy this car, it just offers so much...

I was very pleased and impressed with the Lexus ES 350 F Sport model I purchased. My only small complaint would be that the side mirrors don't fold in automatically. You have to fold them in manually. From the infotainment system with the big 12.3 inch screen, and Mark Levinson 17 speakers, to the improved handling and great interior, you get a lot of bang for your buck with this vehicle, compared to its German counterparts. I looked at BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi before making my purchase, and although the Prestige hype, and road handling of these German brands are considered superior, they don't offer much from a feature perspective unless you go to a much higher price point. And based on the known electrical and over all reliability issues with these German brands, I couldn't risk the headache. The interior of the 2019 Lexus ES 350 f sport is comfortable and well-designed. The materials are premium and luxurious. I frankly have no issues with the track pad, but based on some of the reviews I see here, some people just don't like it, but I believe it's more of a personal preference than a flaw in the vehicle. Overall I believe the Edmunds rating of 8.1 is a fair rating. I would probably give it an 8.5 for overall comfort reliability and handling.

Incredible amounts of interior space that defy logic. Engine packs a punch and wheels squeal as much as you desire. Fantastic styling, lovely noise isolation and comfy ride quality. Incredible luxury for a fair price vs German luxury. Nothing comes even close to the reliability of a Lexus.

Fun car to drive, best reliable brand, powerful engine, People complain about front wheel drive. Why do you need it if you live in California? Awd takes up even more gas and it makes the car even heavier. Infotainment for me is easy getting use to. The dash board odometer is computerize, I think is gorgeous and no blind spots. Some people don’t like the front grill. I love it. I absolutely love this car, very satisfying to drive.

I bought the car three days ago and between price finance and nested controls I was pretty warn out and didn’t spend time on the audio system. I am an audiophile with a dedicated high end system. I knew mark levinson and heard audio in prior lexus models. On the drive home I heard all of the flaws mentioned in prior reviews. Luckily there were a few posters who got the fix. Turn off the surround and fase two inits to the back. I also agree that the sound was bright and forward, but alleviated by backing off treble by 2 and midrange by one. Using Sirius and tidal via car play the music was excellent. My wife who has a great ear but cares little for equipment loved the sound. Levinson sound is very detailed and reflected off glass could be off putting but after those adjustments you have a great system. Enjoy your 🚙!

Answer to 2/09/2019: short person’s seat problem

I have had the problem of a short person’s seat not moving forward after another person changes the setting. Nigel, mechanic at Germain Lexus, Naples, found that for a short person, the proper seat setting sequence must be followed. TO SET DRIVER’S SEAT FOR SHORT PERSON: 1. Car must be in the Accessory mode by pushing start button a fast 2 times without pushing the brake. 2. Door must be closed at all times during the setting. 3. Set seat, push # and set buttons. 4. Then start car.

Sweet Ride

Well, I think the 19 changes are positive for the ES and the Brand...more power, more room, quieter, smoother ride, better handling, and great fuel economy. I get about 35 mpg for highway driving at 75 mph. This is a tech car. If technology intimidates or bothers you, it may not be your kind of ride. There is much negative hupla about the ML stereo system. I think it sounds pretty darn good especially using SXM or direct feed from car play. FM sound suffers some, but is not a deal breaker. A high quality vehicle is more than just a moving hi-fi system. Plus, the settings can be adjusted and some other reviewers may not have taken the time or study to customize the system to their liking. So, give it a look and don't follow all reviews to formulate your decision to own one. The new ES is a sweet ride.

Good Audio System on a Great Lexus

We have read a number of reviews on Edmunds regarding the music system. We think the system is really nice. We can hear music in front and back...radio, CD and flash drive. While we think this is a good audio system, we must admit that the Bose system in our 16 Corvette is better and the audio system in our 2017 Ford F150 ranks #1 of the 3 systems. Wish Lexus had the same system as the F-150 (brand unknown..standard system in XLT model) This new Lexus is our first..replacing a wonderful Toyota Camry XLE that we had for 11.5 years. The Lexus is extremely quiet and rides really well. Interior is quite luxurious and comfortable. We have been pleased with the gas mileage for such a nice size car. Love the voice recognition...just talk and the change has been done. Really like all the safety features. Plenty of power from the engine. Like the 12" screen....touch pad is sensitive...use the voice commands! The Moonbeam exterior and Flaxen interior looks really good. My wife and I are very happy with our recent purchase! Update...now we have had the car for over 14 months...still tops in our enjoyment of the vehicle! We now have had the car for almost 3 years....This is the most comfortable car we have owned! ....and previous luxury cars include Volvo GLE, Chrysler 5th Ave, Lincoln Continental, Cadillac XLR

I've always been a base model compact car guy. I mean, what's the difference, right? Boy was I wrong, This car is a dream. No matter how bad my day is I know I'm having a smooth, quiet ride with all of the zip I need. I got just the deal I wanted after checking with the forums and doing other research.

Surpasses its competitors in features, design, quality, comfort, and price. Lexus wasn't at the top of my list, however once I did my research and compared it to other luxury makers it was the winner. Beautiful redesign!

Bought this car in Florida (flew there). I live in Texas, so I had to drive it back. It's a base-model, with add-ons like ventilated seats (must have in Texas), heated steering wheel, and some others. Great drive! Quiet, comfortable, smooth. I think the car is great looking. The "swipe/touch pad" doesn't bother me. Sure it's not a touch screen but I figure they did that for 2 reasons: #1, the screen would maybe be too far away to touch? #2, Lexus likes to keep things relatively simple for reliability reasons. I appreciate that. It's pretty easy to just swipe "left or right" to get where you need to go. It's not like it's a free-form mouse that doesn't "snap" to any menu item. I've seen complaints about the sound system. The first complaint is that it doesn't come from the back. That's true. But guess what. Who cares. I don't sit in the back of my own car. I sit in the front. The back passengers that I rarely ever have can deal with not having as much sound as the front passengers. The sound still sounds "full" to me in the front, and I'm a musician. There are 4 speakers in the front I hear sound distinctly coming from: two near the windshield, and two in the front doors. It's full stereo. Now, some say the sound is poor quality. At first it kind of is! Guess what? Cars have (and have had for decades now) these things called balance settings. Go into the settings and turn up the bass, or turn down the treble, or both.....guess what? It sounds great now. Sometimes you have to adjust things to your liking; no manufacturer can guess what you like. The car has great features like blind spot monitoring, radar cruise, dual-zone climate control, touch-entry, and so many other features I can't even list them all. It has 302hp, plenty for me. Why would you need more? Are you drag racing? I use my car to get from Point A to Point B, and I do love driving, but I don't need to win any races. Acceleration is great, to me. I even got 39mpg by putting it in "economy mode." The car rides great. The interior is gorgeous. I even like the controversial grille....people think it's "too much," But if Lexus had made something more "conventional" that would have been boring. I'm all for trying new things. If you want boring, I guess go get a Honda Accord or some other boring car. The Lexus dealership experience was stellar. I've heard about how they treat you, and boy do they really make you feel like a king or queen! I LOVE this car. It's amazing, and the complaints are from people who don't try to adapt and who probably moved from another car and expected this to be exactly the same as their old car. It's not. It's better.

This car is everything I was looking for. My only complaint, which I have heard from many other drivers of all sorts of cars, is the GPS. It consistently sends me in the wrong direction, once trying to get me to turn left off the side of a bridge. Other than that, I am happy with my purchase.

It has more power, smoother, quieter, and more sporty than my wife’s 2017 ES350. Radio speaker are good but not that bad. I don’t expect to be inside a concert hall in a car. Don’t know if there is a such a car perhaps other than Rolls Royce. F Sport is a lion in sheep’s skin. I already beat Panamera 4 off the line in Eco mode. The seats are very comfortable since I do not have over sized rear. Great tech assistance and info all around. I did get the wheel/tire warranty for 5 years since it’s a low profile tires.

I got this car because another family member was happy with the purchase of their lexus es(2016). I researched lexus and found the es 350 to be amazing with reviews and it delivered in person! I'm so happy with my purchase, i definitely recommend a lexus. The f sport handles like no other. I love the technology and getting updates on my phone. This car was an excellent choice for my family with all the safety features. Good job lexus!

My car now had 75,000 miles on it. It drives smoothly and grips corners and curves like a sports car. The cost to maintain it has been resonable. It looks great inside and out. I’m totally satisfied. It’s my 5th ES from Lexus of Cherry Hill.
