Used 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Consumer Reviews
4 More months..........
Leased my GC in April '07. This is my 3rd Jeep, loved my first two, and hey, this new GC looked sweet. Yeah, well that lasted about a year. The seats are stained because my water bottle leaked on them. The tranny shimmies instead of downshifting. I have a burn on my forehead because the check engine light has been on so many times. Sometimes it won't shift, or gets stuck in overdrive when at a stop. Have taken it in for service 3 times now, and they always tell me nothing is wrong and they reset the computer, then 2 miles down the road the light comes back on. I was told it needs a new tranny computer and they don't order them unless it is a real problem....hmmm....I'm buying a Toyota
4th Jeep Owned
This is my fourth Jeep vehicle, three Grand Cherokees and one Liberty in between, (don't waste your time with a Liberty). This 2005 is the best of the lot. Comfort and reliability are the best and gas mileage is what they said it would be, not real great. Auto wipers are fabulous, but auto lights could be more sensitive to a dusk environment. Navigation system is limited, but sufficient. Ride is responsive and sure footed. You will feel real good driving this with confidence. They did a real nice job with this vehicle.

Buyer's Remorse
I traded in an '01 G. Cherokee that I loved for the '05. I was drawn in by the new design, smooth test ride, AWD and price. Plenty to like about new design, but not enough to overcome the problems. Had immediate problems with vehicle not starting twice. Computer modules were recalibrated after vehicle spent several days back at dealership. Problem was solved, but I have since brought it back for a recurring acceleration / transmission hesitation problem, particularly in low gears. Computer was "reset" again, but problem persists. Hesitation at slow speeds is just plain annoying. Vehicle seems to need to think about downshifting / accelerating for a second before doing it.
We Love our Jeep
We have had our Jeep now for about 9 months and have had no trouble with it at all. It is comfortable to drive and ride in. With the Hemi engine, towing is no problem at all. I have hauled over 2 tons and you hardly know you're towing anything. The sound system is great and the navigation system is reliable.
I gotta a Hemi under there!
I love my new Jeep. It's loaded with everything I want in a car. And it still rides like a car. I also own a '99 JGC Laredo with almost 160,000 miles on it. It was hard to give it up and commit to the new Jeep, but after doing so, my kids are now enjoying an everyday Jeep themselves. I guess you could say I love my Jeeps.
