I purchased this vehicle in September 2021. One month after driving it I had an electronic steering wheel warning message. The dealership had my brand new car for over a month and said the resolved the issue by replacing the electronic steering system.... fast forward one week and the error message is back and there is recall for the air bag system not working. I am now in the process of trying to get the manufacturer to buy back the vehicle and am without a car... Buyers beware.

Beautiful vehicle with excessive issues

After purchasing my vehicle 3 months ago I am extremely disappointed in the number of recalls in a short amount of time. 1st recall was for a radio issue of which was not effecting my vehicle, but they insisted it needed to be corrected. Ever since I have had issues with my blinkers, the radio going black sporatically and now a recall for airbags. The vehicle has been in the dealership 3 times in 3 months. The least they can do is give a like vehicle as a loaner while they correct the issues rather than a crappy jeep renagade. Last jeep I will ever purchase!

I bought my 2021 Grand Cherokee L - Overland edition- less then two weeks ago. It had 158 miles on it. Was loving it until today when I left my house the car started acting strange and not shifting down...granted I was only on a road doing 25 mph. The next stop sign- I stopped and proceeded and the car seemed like something was going on. I pulled over turned the car off and turned it back on. I proceeded down the road and something just didnt seem right- now my check engine light came on, solid yellow, I pulled into the next lot and shut the car off again and this time the car wouldnt drive forward. I tried repeatedly shutting the car off in hopes something would reset. Then I wondered if somehow the parking brake was on. NOPE. Here I am stuck in a parking lot, happened to be the police station, and the car wouldnt drive. I tried reversed and luckily it drove in reverse so I backed into a spot and called road side assistance. My car has been towed to the dealership. It sounds like there are multiple computer issues and glitches and there may not be a fix since there are no updates available yet. Im anxious to find out the check engine code. Im not feeling good about this! I literally want to cry! I will update when I know more. Please put specific issues on the reviews. Anyone else with this issue? Car was towed at 758 miles.

Unsafe to drive

I really want to love this car. I got a fully loaded Summit Reserve and liked all of the features. Unfortunately, in a month of owning the car, it has almost spent more time in the shop than on the road. I cannot drive it anymore because it will shift into park and every electronic system fails, it has taken anywhere from 4-minutes to 15-minutes to get it restarted while I have blocked major intersections and on-ramps blocking traffic. It is unsafe to drive because you never known when it will breakdown. Even after multiple service appointments, Jeep has been unable to fix it. Stay away.

We’ve had ours since end of July and have not yet found a solution to the main screen. You won’t have radio, climate control, navigation work right. The car is the equivalent of a bricked phone. It’s been 3 months and it’s in the shop. You will wait 3-4 weeks to get your car in, no loaner and days later returned to you with no concrete fix. We’re hoping we document well enough to qualify for lemon law, but they’ll try everything they can to say the visits are for “different” issues. Please be careful!

Fan sounds like a jet engine

Be warned: this vehicle utilizes an HVAC system to provide airflow (heat/AC) to all three rows of passengers. If you turn on the air flow in the back two rows it sounds like a jet engine in the front. Unbelievably poor design. Most vehicles have the 2nd and 3rd row blower in the back of the vehicle. We’ve had 3 row vehicles for the last 10 years and this is by far the biggest design flaw for air flow in a vehicle I have ever seen. It also has a very difficult time switching between zones and makes loud revving sounds as it transitions between feet, body and defrost. I had the maintenance dept look at it because I thought there was something wrong with it and they told me this is how it’s designed and how they all sound. I would never have purchased this vehicle if I had known that before hand, and unfortunately I didn’t think to test the airflow in the back when we test drove it. This is a deal breaker for me, I never would have purchased this vehicle if I had known it up front.

Stay far, far away from this Jeep!

After growing out of our 2015 Grand Cherokee Overland, we started the search for a 3 row vehicle. Landed on the 2021 L Overland with Pro Tech Group and Luxury Group because it seemingly offered best in class off road capability alongside all the great tech features. Well, this thing has been nothing but trouble since it rolled off the lot. First trip back to the dealer occurred at 200 miles after the AEB warning failed to clear. They said the sensor was "loose." Next trip back to the dealer came shortly thereafter because the cabin was filling with the smell of burning oil. Came back a few days later with the head gasket replaced! After 2,000 miles, here's the list of issues: 1. Constant system crashes - extremely loud sound plays for 5 seconds, screens go black. Every function on main nav screen stops for a few minutes while it reboots. This happens during driving and is distracting and dangerous. 2. CarPlay fails to connect 50 percent of the time - both wirelessly and hard wired. I have never experienced an issue like this in any other vehicle. It should be plug and play. 3. 50 percent of the time the steering wheel buttons do not change audio tracks when the audio input is set to CarPlay 4. Auto-dimming side view mirrors stop working, turning on and off button doesn't fix the issue. Only a power cycle of the vehicle does 5. Constant warning that the "night vision is unavailable - Sensor blocked" - occurs in all conditions, nearly every time driving the vehicle at night. Annoying chime sounds every time the warning trips. 6. Power seat memory fails to save/adjust the lumbar support and side bolsters. Need to be manually reset every time the driver profile is switched. 7. Vehicle literally shut itself off while backing into the garage, nothing was in the path 8. Vehicle slammed on brakes on highway when there was nothing in front of it, if there was someone following closely, they would have rear ended us. 9. Navigation system fails to connect to our wi-fi network, access point is 10 feet from the vehicle in our garage 10. Navigation map fails to show up on driver display with error "map still loading" 11. Heads up display fails to update the street address, stops showing turn by turn directions at times until car is power cycled - probably tied to the map loading issue 12. Passenger side seat massage function turns off after 5-15 minutes of use, over and over and over 13. When using Waze as navigation, the music only plays from the right side of the car 14. Warnings about the SOS call system not working show up often 15. XM signal gets lost randomly on the highway. Won't come back until power cycled. Additionally: Switching user profiles takes 1+ minutes and not all the settings are saved. The adaptive suspension is lacking. The ride on our 2015 with air suspension is softer. It does handle well for a vehicle of this size, though. There are no user adjustable settings for suspension damping... in a 65k car. The McIntosh audio system is a joke. The bass needs to be turned down to the lowest setting to be tolerable. The B&O that Audi uses is lightyears better. The "self driving assist" feature is a joke. You better pay attention all the time or it will throw you into a guard rail. It's _nowhere_ near what Tesla offers. The average highway MPG for us has been 17 (with the 6 cyl) You can't turn off the annoying rear seat reminder chime. You can't turn off the chimes that warn you if your seatbelt is unbuckled when you still have the car running. It beeps 3 times if you leave the car with the keys in your pocket... and the list goes on. It's the most obnoxious car I've ever encountered. Seems like the lawyers won out on all these warnings because I have scoured the Internet to find a way to disable them and turned up empty. Oh, and the HVAC fans are so insanely loud, even in the lowest setting, you'd think someone is playing a joke on you. Is there anything we do like? Well, the LCD rear view mirror is great. The interior camera system is fun. The seats are very comfortable. The air suspension right height adjustments happen much faster than the older generation. The heads up display is very nice, when it works. The ambient lighting is nice. The LED headlights/Fog lights are excellent. The night vision is a cool concept, but it doesn't work 90% of the time. The 0-35 acceleration is very good. And I think it's a fairly attractive Jeep. Overall: Luxury car, this is not. Ours is probably the worst case scenario for issues, and I think all the technology in the Pro Tech + Lux group is half baked - at best. Stay far, far away from this thing until they can work through these quality control / tech issues.

Bought this Jeep in September, and a few weeks into it, the driver's seat lumbar and cushion extension started creaking like a 20 year old car. Auto folding mirrors will unfold when ignition turned on, like they should, but will only fold back when door locked. Not a big deal. I was going to take it in to have them look at it. Until last week. My wife got into the car and it wouldn't start. Then the digital dash lit up like a Christmas tree, with all sorts of warnings, the interior lights started flashing, uconnect screen froze. Then the car died. I tried Assist button but nothing. Somebody else in a review said uconnect doesn't exist yet for this Jeep. I hope that's not true. That was a deal breaker when I bought the car! Called Jeep break down and they sent a guy with jump leads. A guy in a car with jump leads, not a tow truck. He was nice, and eventually he got it going. It didn't want to kick over at first. He said this wasn't a battery issue and it was the electrics and to get it to a dealer. Two days later, I took it in. The service advisor said this is the second one they've had in. This is my local dealer, not where I bought the car. Turns out, it was the sales manager form the dealership where I bought the car who had taken in his Jeep for the exact same reason as me. I wasn't offered a loaner car so we rented one for a few days. When the rental manager asked what brought us in today, I explained. He said they had two of the new Jeeps and both of them broke down with around a hundred miles on them. He thought the renters were doing something wrong. He realized that it wasn't them after I explained what had happened to mine. This seems to be a major problem with the electrics in the new car, that Jeep knows about. They're keeping quiet about it, and fixing it when people bring the car in with faults instead of recalling them. The quality is very poor on this vehicle. We sold our 2017 Pacifica that felt like it was built like a tank. This car doesn't. But that's not the problem. The car breaking down is. I had it for 10 weeks with 556 miles on the clock before it died. I did a search online and found that older Grand Cherokee's sometimes had creaking seats with the lumbar support loose in them. This car is awful. I agree with another reviewer - Jeep rushed this car out. And people who bought them are the Guinea Pigs. When I first drove another model, it was waiting for a software update because the screen was in French! I deeply regret buying this car, but as soon as I get it back, I'm going to hit the assist button, and there better be somebody there waiting to talk to me! ** UPDATE ** The assist button did work. I also forgot to mention before - when the tailgate is coming down, it will give out a few beeps to warn you. One day I was taking bags out of the trunk and the tailgate came down with no beeps and hit me on the head! And it didn't feel like it was going to stop! I pushed up against it with my arm and then it went up. But we had a horrific incident with the car. Driving along at 30 mph, it was a short, quiet road that led to a main road, when all of a sudden there was a horrendous Bang! The car stopped dead, like we had hit a brick wall. I thought the transmission had exploded. Then I thought we'd maybe been rear-ended. Neither. The automatic emergency braking system kicked in despite there being no car, pedestrians or cyclists in front. Nothing near us at all. Neither was anything blown across out path (as the service advisor said might have happened. It wasn't windy that day!) We were badly shaken. I hate to think what would have happened if we'd been doing 65 mph on the highway at the time. Took it into the dealer. The third time in 12 weeks. Of course they said, we couldn't replicate it, there are no service bulletins and no codes coming up. Their answer? Switch off the emergency auto braking! Why have such a feature if you have to drive with it switched off? Ludicrous. This car slammed the brakes on for no reason. This car could have gotten us killed. It's in our driveway now, and my wife never wants to drive it again. Time to contact a lemon lawyer.

I ordered a Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland model and waited three months to get it. Since getting it in August, I have had problems with this vehicle not starting on 5 different occasions. It has been in the shop for weeks at a time and they havent been able to resolve this issue. Im getting the run- around from Jeep corporate. It would be a wonderful vehicle if it werent for the fact that it wont start! So beyond disappointed. Update This vehicle is being sold back to the manufacturer under the lemon law

95% great vehicle

95% satisfied with my Cherokee L Summit, but a little worried about long term quality. Pros: Comfort, looks, silky smooth drive with air suspension (test drive in lower trims suffered far more body roll). This big vehicle drives smoother than any car I've owned. Power is plentiful with the V6, despite what some other reviews say, when I press the pedal at any speed it really goes and highway passing will not be a problem; Very spacious interior. Kids really love the tech features, especially the LED lighting. Cons: MPG has not been close to advertised, at an absolute best with max effort toward efficiency I could see it getting 23 mpg, but my total average after 1k miles is just 19mpg, a far cry from advertised. I'm concerned about long term quality as it already has a rough idle to it on start up that I've not felt on any other vehicle I've owned, which is multiple. I've had one plastic cover come off the driver seat where the seat extends and couldn't get it back on, but it's not noticeable really. In further regards to the extending seat, it really doesn't extend far enough or at a correct angle to get full beneficial knee support from it as the feature intends....but it does okay. Unable to get Android auto to work so far, I've done all phone updates as instructed but no success. Despite my long cons list, I'm really just nitpicking/giving feedback for Jeep improvements. I'm still loving the vehicle. As long it holds up well then I will have no regrets, despite the hefty price tag on Summit trim.

This Jeep looks really cool but it has had so many issues since we bought it. The check engine light came on and it took almost 3 months to fix. Now the power steering randomly fails and has been in the shop for weeks pending a software update to fix the issue. Don't buy this car and maybe don't buy a Jeep, I know we never will again!

I have owned my Jeep Grand Cherokee L altitude for about 1 month now, and have had issues with the computer constantly shutting off AEB, 4WD, blind spot sensors, active lane management, stability control. You name it, it repeatedly turns off and back in while driving. Took it to the dealer, and they are unable to find what is wrong with it. Update- this POS is back at the dealer for the EXACT same issue, plus the transmission not working correctly. Twice now it will not shift from park to drive, and will not shut off. You are basically stranded wherever you are. I was stuck on a bridge for a couple minutes until I finally got the car to shut off, and was able to turn it back on to get off the bridge. The dealer has no idea how to fix the issue. I am so unhappy and will most likely need to lemon law this vehicle if the dealer does not refund. Please stay away. This has been an awful experience and you don’t need to waste your time and money.

I traded a Lincokn MKC for the Cherokee Limited L. I am so happy with the look and feel of this vehicle. It has so much power and turns on a dime. The leather seats are top quality. The interior design is the best I've seen in a SUV. This is my first Jeep and I am in love.

So far, so good. I have not experienced any of the issues others have reported. My vehicle wasn’t built until late August, so maybe that’s the difference? I also own a 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited with the Pentastar V6, and have had no issues and am approaching 73k miles, which is why I considered this vehicle along with the Palisade and Telluride. The Grand Cherokee L is quieter, feels roomier, and a bit more upscale. The ride is smooth on the 18” Michelins and performance is what you’d expect from a V-6 in a vehicle this size. Uconnect works very well and moving to the 10 inch screen and upgraded Alpine sound system is very much worth the extra cost. If you are familiar with the Uconnect system, this new system will be very easy to learn. If you are new to Uconnect, this is one of the easier systems to learn. I also own a Lexus with the Enform system, and Uconnect is soooo much easier to navigate. Interior and exterior fit and finish are both great. Safety systems that come with the Limited work very well. Due to the size of the hood, I wish front parking sensors came standard, and this is my only disappointment. It all comes down to personal preference, but definitely keep this one on your short list. 2 and 1/2 years and no issues. Only been in for service for routine maintenance and a couple of recalls. I’m still very happy with this vehicle and recommend it.

Update 2/6/24: after spending equivalent to a part time job on phone, contacting a local newsagents, calling the state contact person on the lemon law and finally finding a lemon law attorney for my case (free), Stellantis (Jeep parent comapny) bought My car back full price. Didn't need the lawyer just threat of one that was taking my case. Bye Jeep. Terrible experience. And SAFETY issue. The car at least is being auctioned or resold as a 'buy back' so others know it's a bad one 1/31: I JUST picked up my brand new L less than a week ago. Day 3, engine light on. Day 4 engine light off. Day 5, multiple warning lights on going 40 mph, including blind spot monitoring, air bag failure, tire pressure, then transmission warning. Pulled over. Parked car and it went off for 10 mins could not restart. Restarted and engine light on to drive home since it was 5 mins away. Service scheduled but am bringing into dealer asap in morning. So MAD and hear broken. I had my wrangler for 11 years. No problems. I saw the reviews on this and was hoping for a good one, but apparently not. It's got 380 miles on it and I'm hoping at this point it'll be a lemon because I don't trust it. 2 little kids in carseats to get around. Jeep, I'm disappointed to say the least and sickened that I've paid $50k+ for a car that dies within 5 days of ownership. 2/2: day 1 and 2 in service and keeping it overnigh AGAIN. They aren't sure yet!. Looking at all failure /error codes and thought battery, but battery fine. Think it may be when Temps drop so checking in morning This is what the Jeep Wave support initially said as well possibly. If that's the case, then this car should not be sold to half of the colder in winter United Stated! Unacceptable. And a joke.My 11 year wrangler....and many other brand new cars...survived the polar vortex in 2019 2/4 end of day 3. Major electrical issues found and finally error codes thrown for servixe dept while driving it. Who knows when it'll get fixed. I don't want this car back, I'll never feel safe in it with my kids. Jeep needs to take it back and fix this defective product before someone seriously gets hurt with all these electrical issues I'm reading about since unfortunately already buying mine. Out 50k+ from my BANK ACCOUNT...cashiers check.. and NO CAR!!!! As of June 2022-after so much time was spent on the phone, in the shop and lots of frustration, jeep finally bought back this car under state lemon law. Not for safety or customer service reasons, but because I told them I had a lawyer to take my case. Never again.

Put a deposit down months ago and finally took delivery last week. Put about 400 miles with a weekend road trip. Was lucky to get one of the last Overland’s with the air suspension and tow package. Cabin and ride are as nice as our Lexus RX. The technology is amazing but does have a bit of a learning curve to figure it all out. Interior storage could be better, and not crazy about all the piano black trim. Scratches way too easily and shows every fingerprint. Overall, very happy with our purchase.

We recently purchased the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. When on the test drive everything was great and the apps worked only to find out it was in Demo mode. After we drove away from the dealer some of the apps don't work and the lady that tells you what the speed limit is doesn't work. Not that I really need that but just saying. The Jeep App (black background and white lettering Jeep) isn't fully working because Jeep is merging stuff but in the meantime you can't track your vehicle, you can't see the gas gauge, can't unlock the vehicle and yes the tire pressure doesn't come up either. Also, no timeline from them on when this merge or features will work if ever again. After the purchase we noticed the roof rack trim was wrong;chrome on one side and black on the other side and oh yah the plastic cover over the engine which helps with reducing noise doesn't come with your $60,000 purchase. When calling Jeep there is no support and customer service acts like they have no idea or details or "help" specifically about their products. Pretty unfortunate, great looking vehicle and I do enjoy the ride BUT I paid for the entire package and don't expect less. Jeep needs to stand up to what it promises or I'm sorry to say they won't be any different from the Ford Bronco review they just provided. Update: Yesterday, the radio display screen went black which means the back up camera is no longer working and basically everything else that is controlled through that display panel. Lucky enough Jeep does allow you to see your radio options/channels on the dash (speed display) and are able to use the up/down buttons on the steering wheel. Turns out after waiting at the dealer almost all day finally Star Engineers revealed, "replace the radio". So, now I will wait for the replacement...took delivery about a month ago and not more than 1,000 miles on it. What a way to start out with a "luxury" vehicle!

This is my third Grand Cherokee since 2011 and this L Overland model is the best so far. I traded a 2020 Lincoln Nautilus for this new Grand Cherokee and have absolutely no regrets. More room, less noise and a smoother ride.

So i was living in Florida and someone took my lease over on my BMW through Swapalease. i knew i was moving back to NJ so figured i would get a large SUV due to my buisness. I also figured let me save money and not try and get another BMW as the prices since Covid are horrible. So i went for the GCL Altitude. i have a few issues. Number 1 the same penstar engine needs more power. The trucks engine is noisy, i also feel the truck can be a a little more solid feeling as well. yes it is comfortable but has alot of bodyroll which im not happy about . i find myself driving in sports mode and downshifting a gear to get to pass somebody. i really am not happy with the decision i made and i may decide to trade it in or sell it. i feel for 50K there are alot more vehicles to choose from and in my opinion better than Jeep.

Waited for this car for a year. Finally got mine and loved it for the first two days. At 200 miles, I found myself in a dealership in a small town waiting for new piston rocker arms to arrive at the little local jeep dealership. I hope this is a fluke, but I am severely dissatisfied that my brand new car broke down and I am stuck. UPDATE: they fixed my car, but then another major engine problem occurred AGAIN. Totally separate issue and another 2 weeks in the shop waiting for parts. In a month I have driven my new Jeep 6 days. Now I have lost confidence in the car and Chrysler Jeep refuses to replace my car and so does the dealership. About to enter the legal process for lemon law replacement. Buyer beware - new car model, I think they rushed it and even though they say its the same reliable engine and transmission in all grand cherokee's, they wont stand by it. Buyer beware - you might get shafted.

I was looking for a 3rd row seat vehicle when I heard that Jeep was making one. We’ve had Jeep’s in the past and they are solid performers that look sharp. I love everything about the new L from the color to the features to the way it drives! The ride is smooth like a car but sits up high like a truck. Lots of headroom for my tall family and still plenty of storage space in the back. Have to see it to really appreciate everything this model provides.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit 4dr SUV 4WD (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
13 of 15 people found this review helpful

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L is a luxurious, stylish, and practical SUV featuring third row seating and a more practical size than some of the larger Full Size SUVs like the Ford Expedition, Chevrolet Tahoe, or GMC Yukon. On the market today, it's direct competitor is the KIA Telluride. Having ridden in both and now owning a 2021 Grand Cherokee L Summit, it must be said that the Jeep prevails in both value and build quality. Nappa leather seats are durable, the seats are more comfortable, and there are far finer details in the interior and exterior trim that make the Grand Cherokee L stand out above competing vehicles. The acceleration with the V6 engine is satisfactory, but I can't imagine getting anywhere too quickly. The best comparison would be every so slightly more peppy than the late model Toyota 4Runner V6, which if you've ever driven one they tend to be enough for practicality but nothing to write home about. The features in the Summit model are impressive. The massaging seats are life-changing. They are less aggressive than a standalone massage chair, but enough to feel while keep you focused on the road. The Alpine 9-speaker sound system with a subwoofer is more than enough for any car audio enthusiast. The sunroof lets in a lot of light and is impressively large. Other great features include park assist for both parallel and normal parking spaces, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, front and rear cameras with washers, 360 overhead camera views, Wifi hotspot through AT&T, Adjustable Air Bag Suspension, Apply Carplay, Heated steering wheel, ventilated and heated seats, power tailgate, power folding third row seats, heated and cooled captain's chairs in the second row with an optional bench seat for total seating of 7 passengers, wireless charging pad, ambient lighting around the trim and footwells, automatic adjusting high beams, and one-touch windows for the front and rear. Not to mention, the Jeep comes off-road ready and has options like locking differentials and hill descent control for the rugged side. Any other full size SUV from an American car manufacturer could not create this masterpiece with all of these features around the $60,000 price point for the fully loaded version. I did notice one small inconvenience. European auto manufacturers do a wonderful job with their heated and ventilated seats; and also their climate control. In our 2015 Audi A6, the Air Conditioning is almost instant, it takes about 60 seconds to start feeling Ice cold air in the summer time. The vents in the 2021 Grand Cherokee L are very stylish, but they do not push out as much air and take slightly longer to cool the car down. This could be the larger cabin compared to a sedan, or a combination of both factors. The ventilated seats also are a bit more mild than European competitors, but they still function well and serve their purpose. Disclaimer on this, we are still racking up our first 1,000 miles on the car. Key takeaway, the Jeep is probably the best option for the value, although there are still a few small details that true luxury brands have perfected over time that Jeep could potentially perfect.

Jeep isn't telling people of the issues with these vehicles. It looks great and drives smooth...when they run. There are steering wheel issues, display issues, 4wd issues, jeep connect issues, tech issues and more. They rolled these out and sold them without informing buyers that the jeep connect marketplace isn't even built yet. If you have the uconnect marketplace in your 2021 jgcl you are lucky. Buyers who purchased their jeep with the nonexistant jeep connect marketplace are left high and dry with no date for completion. It doesn't exist yet. The Sideview mirrors have screeching ear piercing whistle noises if you are going 45 mph or more so don't roll your windows down. Personally my 4wd light came on 4 times in 500 miles and the dealership had no idea why. It hasn't came on in the last 3000 miles once however. This jeep is beautiful and rides smooth. I just wish jeep had a single bit of information or informed their customers that the marketplace is nonexistant at this time. It took me 16 hours talking to jeep care just to get someone to tell me that information. It is no where online. The dealers don't know. Jeep care doesn't know. Only when they transfer you 20x and finally talk to their connectivity department will you finally hear your jeep was sold to you with software that is unfinished. I get it they are new vehicles...but this information seems to be a secret you're only going to find out after ypu buy it and spend a 2weeks calling them over and over. The front seats are comfortable. The back seats are small and very uncomfortable. You will not get roof rack bars with your vehicle or even a trunk net. The jeep app features hardly work. It rarely updates location. Unlocking, locking, remote start, remote horn works intermittently. Its not good. Mobile hostspot is through at&t and I rarely ever have a signal. My jeep will not connect to any wifi for software updates. It just won't connect no matter what I do. This vehicle is sharp looking and a great ride just dont expect the tech to work correctly. Be happy if you purchase one that doesn't have terrible issues that require many trips to the dealership to have work done on it.

I was looking for a new suv to replace my POS Cadillac SRX, that had been a nightmare from day one. During the pandemic, I noticed most dealerships are charging upto $20,000 above sticker price. So that had me looking at a Jeep dealer, not even thinking I would purchase one, I was stunned by how amazing the Grand Cherokee L looked inside and out. The ride on the Limited, what I purchased, is so much better than than I imagined it would be. The standard safety features are more than I thought there would be. The seating soft, yet supportive, and layout of controls are at my fingertips. The 10" screen is bright and clear, easy to save your profile for seating position, side mirrors, and radio stations. I am definitely happy I made the purchase!

I bought my Grand Cherokee L limited in July and from the day I drove it off the lot I have had issues with the display screen freezing up after using auto play. I have been to the dealer on numerous occasions they even replaced the screen once and still the same issue. Screen freezes and have no radio or any functions like climate control. They are refusing to buy it back and have no solution to the problem

The car has great appeal and comfortably seats 6 people. I purchased my first one in July 2021. Less than 30 days I took it back to the delearship because of a knocking noise. No mechanics were trained on the 2021 L so after my car being in the shop for three days I picked up car and traded it in for another 2021 L. Well here I am less than 45 days with the new one and guess what? You guessed it the same knocking noise as before but even louder. So back to thr dealer I go. To me it sounds like a loose motor moubts are bad but we shall see. Three times in the shop and it gets declared a lemon. This will be my last jeep purchase that's for sure.

I was so excited to get this Jeep and wanted to love it. Purchased this Jeep on January 1, 2022 with 15 miles on it. By Feb 28, the Stop Start feature was malfunctioning. When I came to a stop the car turned off and would not turn on at all. Almost got rear ended at least three times because all I could do was flip the hazard lights on and pray other drivers were paying attention. Car revs up to a 4-5 from a stopped position when driving resumes. On two occasions all of the warning lights flashed on my dashboard light disco lights. Now the rear passenger door locks unlocks when it wants to and takes multiple attempts by the driver for the door to unlock. Oh and my vehicle has put itself in park, one minute you’re in drive, next minute the vehicle dial has shifted to park and your car turns off and takes up to 15 minutes to start again.Customer service has been a joke. Opened up a case on 3/7 was given a case manager , spoke to him two times last time 3/11 and never heard from him again. Got a new case manager on 4/28 who promised me the world one day only to tell me the next day to pick my vehicle up because it’s operating as usual. Have filed a complaint with Consumer Protection. This vehicle has been back to the dealer 5 times between Feb. 28- May 4 and spent 28 days there in March. Problems still happening, I’ve kept a log and now it’s going back to the dealer again because the BREAK malfunction light has come on twice, engine still revs up, the locks still malfunctioning, and the Stop Start malfunction light still comes on occasionally. Jeep knew of these issues and are not taking any responsibility or taking care of their customers. This vehicle is a lemon. There are safety concerns with this vehicle . Someone is going to get hurt in one of these vehicles.

Jeep is Playing Games - Deleting Air Suspension

For those who have either ordered a custom GCL or put money down on one in transit to the dealer, be sure to check the window sticker before closing the deal. Jeep has deleted the air suspension on my Overland and only issued a $750 credit, but added a $695 fee for trailer prep. Are you kidding me!!!??? I’ve been waiting almost 2 months for this thing to arrive and without notice, a MAJOR change has been made?! Trailer prep was included standard before this change, which makes this even shadier. Cancelled delivery and took my $3k deposit back. Shame on you Jeep….

I purchased my Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland in August 2021. It was a awesome very nice car drove great until a few weeks later it start making a very loud humming noise when I would start it and while i drove it and also a thumping noise when I would come to a complete stop. It wasn’t constant at first but then began to do it more. I took it back to the dealership and they drove it and did not hear it so they couldn’t do anything. I was not having it so I made sure I got video of the sounds and the dealership told me to bring it back. That was on September 27th when i dropped it back off. I still do not have my Jeep it has been in their service center since then and it is now January 12th. They were working with Jeep engineering and repaired a few things they thought it may be but it did not help. As of now they do not have a solution to the problem and I am paying for a car that I am not driving. Along with all the recalls that’s came with it I am not a happy Jeep customer. They also are not good with communication. I have to constantly reach other to Jeep and the dealership for info which half he time they have nothing or i cannot get in contact with them. This is my first car and it has been the most stressful situation.

Perfect downgrade from my Rubicon

I finally hit an age where I prefer comfort to fun. This is my 5th Jeep-- my first non-wrangler. I "downgraded" from a 4x4 Rubicon. How it's a downgrade I don't understand. I call it a downgrade simply because it was a good $15k less than my Rubi....I chose the Laredo with the Altitude package 4x4 and so she still looks fun with all the black trim but has the comfort. I love it! And she can still handle both the dirt and the snow. (Of course we still have one wrangler in the family-- because I really don't ant to get my new girl too dirty-lol).

Unsafe with no effort from Jeep/ Chrysler to Fix

Loved this car. Larger version of the Grand Cherokee. I've been a jeep owner forever and to have the extra room and seating was a bonus. Not to mention, I really loved the look of it. Leased the GCL Altitude in September. It's now February and has 5k miles on it. It's been in the shop three times because I lose power steering sporadically. Dealership contact FCA and tried all their suggestions, software update, along with airbag and electrical recalls. Nothing. The very next day, I lose power steering again. I've contacted Jeep/ Chrysler and they assigned me a case worker, Eric, who is about as excited as Eeyore to help me. Long story short, after reaching out to several depts at Chrysler, their solution was a software update to be release HOPEFULLY the end of the first quarter. In the meantime, I can continue to drive my unsafe car or pay to rent a car (for a month or longer) and they will reimburse me for 10 days. But mind you, I will still need to pay my lease payment on time. Those two solutions don't sit well with me. I can tell you after what I pay for this, I don't have the kind of money to spend $30 a day on ANOTHER car because my brand new one doesn't work right! Currently I have an appointment for it to go back in two weeks because now in snow, a light on the dash comes up that my 4WD is unavailable. Super safe, right? I am so disappointment on how chrysler/ jeep/ fca (whatever they want to call themselves) have handled this. I would be happy to drive around a loaner until this issue is fixed. I just want myself and my family to be safe. And not leaving me any reasonable options, has really turned around my opinion on Jeep. And trust me, I think I am more sad about this than they are.

We looked around at the Land Rover Discovery, Yukon Denali, MB GLS450, Honda Pilot trying to find a vehicle that could easy fit 3 kids. We decided to check out the Grand Cherokee L and it checked all of the boxes. We ordered a loaded Overland with the v8. It’s been great so far (500 miles driven). The tech features are great and in my opinion better than a lot of the competition. We wanted to get the Summit Reserve, but Jeep doesn’t offer a 2nd row center console delete. The Overland is the highest trim that has the 2nd row pass through between the captain chairs. As for reliability time will tell, but so far I’d highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the market for a comfortable family hauler. As others had mentioned I wish they had some newer more efficient engines.

Currently I have brought my Jeep Grand Cherokee L in for three recalls, one factory glass issue, and a infotainment issue that I guarantee that the dealership will say they can’t replicate. First, when I bought the vehicle in July, the glass developed a snowflake pattern on the driver window. Come to find out that the glass was improperly sealed. I didn’t throw a fuss about it until it took them two months to fix it. After taking time out of my schedule to bring it in for three recalls I now have two technology related issues. First, on two occasions when remote starting the vehicle all the safety systems turn off and remain off for the remainder of the drive; I can’t even turn them back on. Second, on 4-5 occasions the climate control is locked in the infotainment center and won’t unlock until about a minute into the drive. This weekend I’m definitely going to go start the build process on the #1 SUV the Kia Telluride

I purchased the new 2021 on July 9th after trading in my 2018 limited. Drove it home and tried to activate services- nothing worked! After 4 weeks of emails and endless phone calls to Jeep Wave and Uconnect, I still am no closer to a resolution. Can’t use the WiFi, no Alexa, no SiriusXM, no navigation- nothing on the system works properly!! I’ve been a loyal Jeep consumer for years but this one has deterred me from every buying from them again.

Purchased my Jeep GCL the end of July. The dealership we purchased from was not our local dealership. They had limited experience on how to set the profiles set up. We tried ourselves and had no luck the instruction book and videos are horrible. I got my profile set up and when I got in something was always wrong, seat, mirrors, radio presets so frustrating. When my husband got in with his key he got my settings. Took it to one of our many dealerships in our they were uninformed and rude. Called Jeep and had them set up a case with all of our issues the lady we spoke with not only set up a case but called the Jeep dealership in our town and told them about our issues. When we arrived they were ready for us and told us it would be fixed. So far we have had no issues. The service advisor spent 45 minutes going through all of our issues and answered all of our questions. They were very friendly and helpful. Would I purchase this Jeep again with all this tech probably not. This is our 4th Jeep and have loved every one. This one will take some time. We have taken it to Texas and Arizona it is the most comfortable Jeep we have owned. You just need to have a Jeep that is easy for us older folks who are not tech savy to operate.

Bought top of the line Grand Cherokee L with V8. Horrible economy. Why can't Jeep come up with new engines, and after checking with service department the maintenance cost will be ridiculously high. NO loaners, No washing the car, dealership staff cares nothing about customer service and does not know how to treat customers. Called Jeep after repeated problems and they could not care less. After it being in the shop more than on the road, I took this weekend and traded it in. Nice to be back with a car company that provides good customer service and a quality product. Never again will I own a Chrysler product.

Test drove this vehicle and it was overall well executed and priced about right compared to it's peers. My one notable gripe and the thing that's likely going to keep me from purchasing one is the powertrain options. These are the same V6, V8 and transmissions available on our 2012 Durango which is coming up on a decade old now. The V6 does OK but it's underpowered when compared to a lot of other 3rd row SUVs and especially when it comes to torque. The V8 offers a nice chunk of torque but doesn't really motivate the vehicle a whole lot more and the gas mileage is POOR at best. Jeep takes the time and effort to finally develop the 3-row SUV many of us have always wanted from them then simply slides in a 10 year old engine? No updates, retooling, turbo-charger? Seems like a major oversight to me. If I want to feel the rush of a Pentastar 3.6L V6 in an SUV I'll just pull our 2012 Durango out of the garage.

I bought a 2021 Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve. Currently has about 6400 miles and let me tell you it’s been the biggest waste of money. I have one main issue they can figure out that is causing engine noise hum through my speakers and picks up my passengers voices and throws them through the speakers muffled with a humming noise. That’s not all, front axle replacement, rear axle replacement, exhaust realigned, engine mounts replaced, head light housing replaced due to moisture shortening out main electrical line, air suspension error, on star sos error, head unit screen goes black randomly, that is mostly everything that has happened. And to tell you how messed up this vehicle is the dealer gave me a rental while my car was in. That one came up with electrical issues. Showed the 4wd system needed service. My Jeep has been in the shop more then 60 days. Recently it’s been in there 3 weeks and still there. Jeep told me in November they replaced my amp that had new software update and that it was a guaranteed fix. That was false I would highly stay away from this vehicle. There is other ones that are comparable that are better!

I leased my Grand Cherokee L Limited in late October because I needed a bigger family car with our new baby. There are more things that I dislike about the vehicle than the things I like and unfortunately I found these out afterwards. First off the heating and air conditioning system is terrible. On the lowest possible setting the fan sounds like a jet engine. Obnoxiously loud. Second the multimedia system has a mind of its own and it is schizophrenic. Somehow it never pics up my phone for music when I’m driving alone. If I’m in the car with my wife it will pick up her calls and my music and vice versa depending on the mood the car is in. More importantly and what pissed me off the most is that if you have a rear facing baby seat your front passenger will have to ride with their knees in their face because you will have to move the front seat so far forward even after moving the middle seats as far back as possible. Jeep could have also put Qi charging capability in a limited model. This is a cheap technology and should be standard but what do I know. I’ve only been selling cars 20 years. Air conditioned seats would be nice as well for $52k. Other than that the car looks great and drives like a Jeep should. Kind of a gas guzzler but if you can afford the whiskey well you can afford the ice as well.

Windshield is flush with front pillars, causing dirty snow or muddy water to cover your driver’s side window. Making your blind spot sensor obsolete without audio. Potential accident on two occasions. My TOM TOM is really DUM DUM…. The screen shot on and off on its on. The radio power button shuts off the entire screen, making anything on the display obsolete. Navigation flickers from steering column to radio causing a safety driving conditions at night. The rear seat USB overheated the USB cord, causing smoke in the cabin. The JEEP manufacturer makes it impossible to be heard. The dealerships don’t care and keeps claiming the window is a design flaw and they cannot duplicate the others. If you want a good off road vehicle with great electronics….. look at another manufacturer cause Jeep sucks!!!! I owned a Grand Cherokee and loved it. But Jeep your quality fails substantially.

Three weeks after purchasing the grand cherokee L, steering wheel was stuck and car left me at a parking lot at night, it was towed and was told at jeep dealer that it needed an update that did not exist. Made my third car payment before supposed update finally came out. Was about 1.5 maybe even 2 without driving the car. When it was supposedly fixed, the accelarator or abs gave me issues. Was driving and instead of speeding when i stepped on gas, it slowed down, good thing Inwasnt in the highway. Went on side of road, turned car off and on and was able to drive slowly through town to a jeep dealer who said it was abs issue after reading the error code. Left car over night and was told that while the update was being made last time, it messed up the abs. Fast forward, car was fixed and I drove off in it. 4 days later, same thing happened again. Both issues very dangerous mechanical problems, both of which could have caused very serious accidents on a highway, not to mention, there was a headlight recall that was also fixed. I must also mention that one day during a rainstorm, I was terrified because I could not see from my side view mirrors because the wilers are so big that when it pushes the rain to the left side of the car, it forms such a heavy stream of water that it completely blocks visibility. Its as if a water faucet was being poured down the mirror. This vehicle is nice looking and comfortable inside, space-wise but such a horrible car to buy. I could not encourage you enough to stay away from it!

My experience so far is very positive with no problems except for a malfunction of the “assist” and “SOS” buttons. The buttons worked at first and then stopped. Jeep support is working on (firmware update) it and I understand that it is a problem that many are experiencing. The vehicle is incredibly solid, quiet and smooth like no other I have ever been in. The Uconnect is very powerful and well designed. The learning curve wasn’t long at all for me. The JGCL provides exactly the kind of comfort and performance that I was looking for. I would definitely recommend this vehicle to a friend.

***UPDATE*** The car never got better. More issues continued to pop up. 4WD and active lane management randomly would stop working and our car died again. Went to arbitration with FCA and was denied a buy back because I hadn't taken it to the dealership for the same issue enough times. Didn't want to wait for more issues to continue to pop up so got rid of it. Please do not buy this piece of junk. ORIGINAL REVIEW First breakdown was at 500 miles. Car died and the rear door module had to be replaced. Have taken it back for 3 recalls. This last time may be the last. A bunch of electrical issues like Bluetooth not connecting, wireless charger not working, remote start, SOS and assistance buttons not working and the alarm goes off even when the key is in the car. We're in contact with Mopar because all these issues are ridiculous. DO NOT BUY.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. I am the owner of 6 previous Jeeps and have never had any issues. I am very happy with my 2015 Wrangler and the 5 previous Grand Cherokees that I owned. All of that good will is gone. I purchased my Grand Cherokee L(emon) in August, I started having problems the first week I had it. All sorts of radio and control panel issues due to software bugs. I was told Jeep was aware of the issue and the software upgrade was 2 months away. Thanks for selling me a product that they knew the problems existed. I guess full disclosure is dead. A list of faults follows: The start / stop warning indicator goes on, the whole center console, radio and heat controls are inoperative. The radio / control panel whole unit was replaced and problems still exist. Adaptive cruise control and headlights are intermittently unreliable Transmission sensor failed, could only shift manually Car has ongoing alignment problems, it's been in 4 times and the problem still exists. There are more problems, too many to mention. On top of all this Jeep gave me permission to rent cars while my car is being serviced for which I would be reimbursed. Jeep owes me $4400.00 in fees and it's been over 4 weeks since I paid, I have received no checks and the FCA rep has not returned my calls for 2 weeks.

My mom had purchased a 2021jeep grand Cherokee l 4x4 limited and after 3 days she realized that the seatbelt on any adjustments was right on her neck rubbing.2 weeks later she tried to unlock her car with the keyless entry and out of the blue it wouldn’t unlock. It took her 4 tries to unlock the car then she finally used the keys.Last problem so far has been the speakers. Her car is equipped with the standard limited speakers and her speakers have made a pop sound 4 times now.She has had 2 Jeep Grand Cherokees before this 2017 and 2019 altitudes and never had any problems. For her to go a step up and yes this is a completely new grand Cherokee, this shouldn't be happening for spending the extra money to go a step up.
