What a surprise

I do have to say this CUV has surprised me, I am coming out of a 2015 Forester XT which I sent back under the Lemon Law, hated the CVT, and had nothing put problems with it after 10,000 miles, my first Subaru, may be the last. On to the Tucson, I read all about the DCT, and test drove the car 3 times before the purchase, at first was going to get the Base 1.6, but after reading all that came with the Sport decided to upgrade a little. It's worth the extra $1700, blind spot monitoring, cross traffic alert with the back up camera, 19" wheels, heated seats, and the best part the automatic rear hatch opening when to walk up. I am 6'3" stocky, and fit fine, did not fit in the CRV hate the CVT anyway), the Mazda CX-5, or the Rav-4. Back to the DCT, I understand why people complain, but if you stay out of the ECO Mode, unless you are cruising on the highway, it's great, even normal has good punch off the line, and still no matter what I do getting 28-31 MPG. Interior fit, and finish is great, heated seats work well, two minor complaints, no locking glove box, and there is a dead spot when backing up slowly. If you are in the market for a CUV drive this one, just stay out of ECO mode, do Sport Mode you'll love it.

Deadly DCT!

I bought my 2016 1.6L Turbo DCT Tucson Limited w/ Ultimate package the night of May 16, 2016. First incident: within 300 miles, stepped on the gas pedal & it didn't move; kept stomping on the pedal; it finally lurched forward, into oncoming traffic, then didn't move; kept stomping; it jerkily and slowly starting lurching forward; the engine was revving high through all the gears, but it didn't "kick in" until about 5th gear. Second incident: backed out of my driveway and put the car in Drive; it revved through about 5 gears and hadn't moved yet. Third incident: stopped at a red light; light turned green and car wouldn't moved; shifted through all the gears (Park, Neutral, Reverse, Drive) about 6 times before it finally peeled out and sped through the intersection (sure am glad the light was still green, because I wasn't looking). Headed straight to dealership. They discharged the capacitor and "re-taught it the system". Mine was not the first Tucson brought back to the dealer. Thought I noticed a failure to accelerate within a day or two, but was confirmed when... Fourth incident: Turning left, after stopping at a Stop Sign; mid-turn an oncoming car was approaching rapidly so I stepped on the gas pedal; it revved over 4K RPMs, but didn't accelerator; oncoming car swerved to miss me; frightening as hell! My Tucson has been at the dealership since June 24th. I've been told many stories: waiting on a back-ordered part; part due in 7/16/16; manufacturer instructed dealer not to install part because it isn't a "fix"; filed complaints at carcomplaints.com, NHTSA, Hyundai Corporate, and now here; as of yesterday (8/1/16), I've been told a "fix" was discovered last Friday. It's supposedly going through the approval stages and should be disseminated to the dealerships within 2-3 weeks. I know I didn't get to drive my Tucson for very long, but, what I did have the opportunity to experience (interior, comfort, & technology) I fell in love with, or I would have gone through the Lemon Law and gotten rid of it. There was even talk of a "buy back", but I really wanted to wait for my Tucson. I don't have buyer's remorse, I just have great disappointment that Hyundai sold me this 2016 Tucson in the first place, knowing they are death-traps that they can't keep on the road nor fix, and knowing they are releasing 2017s with the same faulty DCT. If there is not truly a remedy in the near future, I will be squeezing that Lemon.

Do not buy a 2016 Tucson Hyundai it is on consumer reports list of used cars not to buy the transmission no matter how many times you take it back it works a little better when you get it and then starts becoming very erratic vibrates hesitates it's terrible. In cold weather the heater only gets lukewarm there's nothing can be done about that either. The DCT, cannot be fixed properly in the early 2016 models there's been a class action lawsuit filed in California I keep waiting on Hyundai to send me something to take this car back do something

Great car if you can handle the turbo and DCT

I love the DCT and little 1.6L turbo. I get 31 mpg and drive 'normal'. And sometimes I'll hit sport mode and the car is really fun to drive (but I lose some of that great mpg). Lots of people complain about the DCT and maybe there are issues, but not with mine. You have to know what to expect with the turbo and the DCT. It has only a little 1.6L engine and you need that turbo to get it going. Once under boost, it is impressive. The DCT takes about 1/2 a second to engage, just like you would if you drove a manual. Give it the 1/2 sec and it all works great. I'd like to see better integration with iOS and Android and a lower cost for the Bluelink package. I had a 2003 Infiniti FX35. The 2016 Tuscon is a better vehicle.
