Outstanding car
I bought the Sonata Limited and I absolutely love it. I spent 3 months researching and driving different cars and selected the Sonata. So far it has exceeded all my expectations. I came out of a Nissan Maxima. Looked at the Maxima, Accord, and Camry. I chose the Sonata because the driver’s safety technology worked better in the Sonata. Cooled and heated seats. Surround cameras, Bose sound system, smooth 8 speed transmission, and it looks great. I am still pleased with my decision.

A Superior sedan
Having had a 2019 Accord EX, I had a high bar of what this vehicle needed to be. It exceeds my expectations. Tech: Well beyond the Honda Accord. The instrument cluster is top notch, the Highway Drive Assistance is far beyond the Accord's capabilities, the display screen for the infotainment system is far easier to see and use in my experience. The Bose sound system is wonderful.I actually had to turn it down a bit (below halfway mark) as the sound is so full and strong, compared to what I'm used to from the previous vehicle. Amenities: The panoramic roof is beautiful, the seats in my SEL Plus are supportive and, for my use, more comfortable than what I had in the Accord. The screen and controls are easier to reach, and the environmental controls simple and elegant. Performance: The 1.6T is certainly powerful enough for the day-to-day drive, equal or better in my experience to the 1.5T Accord, partly due to the use of an 8-speed transmission over the CVT. Shifts are clean and quick, the engine is quieter, sound isolation superior. The Accord had a whining noise from the turbo during acceleration which is completely absent in the Sonata. In a 60 mile drive that was mostly highway with 6 miles of city, I averaged 43.8mpg, well beyond the EPA numbers. This was obeying posted speed limits (65-70mph). My Accord under the same parameters topped out at 39-40mpg. All in all, the Sonata is a winner in my book. The Camry is dated, the Accord competent if generic, but is outclassed here. Hyundai did everything right here.

NICE car
This car has saved me from going over the line several times now. It also has the BEST STEREO I have ever heard in a vehicle!! Bose surround sound with 12 speakers!!! The car is very comfortable, looks great, and is just a joy to drive.

Excitment from my Hyundai Sonata limited
I had a 2016 Sonata Limited and loved it. I was not happy with the 2019 limited and was leaning toward a Tyota Camery. Once I saw the 2020 limited I took two test drives. Amazing. The safety features are excellent. The ride is a joy. I get compliments on the styling often. My MPG in city traffic is near 30. My trunk space is excellent. This car is outstanding.

Unlimited value The
I have taken 2 test drives on the new sonata limited and was very impressed .Very good visibility comfortable seating front and back very quiet ride.Controls are great and seem easy to learn, only the push button tranny is a learning curve.Ride and handling is very good acceleration is okay when in sport mode. With all the tech the limited has I feel this car is worth a couple of test drives to compare to other fine midsize cars.I feel the engine is somewhat under powered, except in sport .

Exceeds expectations!
I leased a 2020 Hyundai Sonata SEL Plus as a replacement for a 2017 Sonata Turbo. I believe that the 2020 Sonata is a big improvement over the 2017 Sonata Turbo (2.0L) even though the 2020 has a smaller and somewhat less powerful engine (1.6L). The acceleration is more than adequate and the ride is very smooth and quieter than the 2017 model. What I like most about the 2020 model are the numerous tech features, the interior and exterior appearance, and the improved fuel mileage. In the past, I have owned Honda Accords, Camrys, and Nissan Maximas and I can say that the 2020 Hyundai Sonata SEL Plus is by far superior to all of them.

Love My New Car
This car has all the bells and whistles and is beautiful! Love the color! Drives perfectly. Warranty is amazing! Looking forward to driving my car for many years to come. Edmunds asked me to update my review, but I still feel exactly the same. I absolutely love my car. That being said, we have a cabin in the mountains upstate. The car does not do well uphill in the mountains. Luckily we don’t live there, so it’s not been much of an issue. 97% of the time I live in an area that is basically flat and the car has plenty of pep on level ground. I feel I made the right decision in purchasing my vehicle. Again I was asked to update my review. No changes. Still love my car!

Awesome- worth every penny
I bought a red sonata SEL with the convinience package. Very comfortable seats, nice ride, super responsive infotainment system (excellent bluetooth quality) with a very refined cabin. The digital dashboard looks awesome and safety features are easy to set while driving. Used to drive a 2017 Camry and wish I had bought the 2020 Sonata as soon as it came out!!

Transmission problems in the low end. 0- 40 MPH. Sometimes not in gear at all.
2 yr update
Now have my lease at the 2 yr mark , 1 yr to go Absolutely no issues with this vehicle drives the same from day one. Great car ! My only issue is that the vehicle sits to low to the ground and due to back issues find it difficult at times getting in and out. Would definitely keep this vehicle at the end of the lease if it wasn’t for my back issues. Next vehicle I will be looking at will be the Hyundai Tucson

A little disappointed
This review is based only on an extensive test drive of an SEL Plus with the Tech Package. But almost everything will apply to the SEL Plus without the tech package, and most will apply to the Touring. On the positive side, I really like the styling other than the grill. But the grill is no worse than the Accord, and not nearly as bad as the Camry, so I can live with it. The interior is fantastic, the best in the class. The tech package gets the larger LCD screen from the Limited, which is great. Not sure how the smaller one compares. At cruising speeds, and under light acceleration, the car is commendably quiet. But... On the negative side, if you put your foot into it the littel 1.6 liter Turbo thrashes like an old Chevy Vega. Noisy, rough, unrefined. It accelerates OK, but it lets you know it's not happy about it. Honda's 1.5T is much more refined (although a little bit noisy under the same conditions). I'm not sure if the Honda's engine is just smoother, or if the sound insulation and engine mounts better isolate it, but Hyundai's got some work to do. The suspension on the Sonata is also unnecessarily harsh. I drive a Corvette, so I'm used to feeling the road, but the Sonata isn't a sports car, it's a near luxury sedan. If the harshness translated into great handling that would be one thing, but I don't think it's any better than the Accord. Based on magazine reviews and my limited drive time, I'd say the Honda handles better and rides better. I also find it inexcusable that a $30,000+ sedan doesn't have memory seating for the driver's seat. The cheaper Accord EX does. Hyundai wants you to spend another $3K on a Limited to get what Honda offers on an even cheaper version that the SEL Plus Hyundai. A nice car, but it needs some work on refinement. Probably too late for Hyundai to do anything about the engine, but the suspension should be given a major upgrade for the 2021 model year.

Russian Roulette
I bought this car brand new with 24miles on it. 2020 Sonata Limited on 3/29/2020. On July 28th while driving on the interstate in the left lane, the car just shut down to 5mph. Cars whizzing around, lucky to not be in a crash. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong and reset the computer. Happened again 2 weeks later. Now I have a new car with 3,450 miles on it, that I have no faith in its reliability. Waiting for a part that may or may not fix it because they don't know what is wrong. So now I have no car for 22 days, and no loaner. The 3rd time it shutdown on me I contacted Hyundai Headquarters and then and only then did I get treated not like an idiot anymore and they at MJ Sullivan replaced a wiring harness and the problem was fixed.

This is our 3rd Sonata
We have owned many different makes of cars throughout the years. We bought our first Sonata several years ago then went with SUV which we didn’t like because it got poor gas mileage. We also had a 2016 Kia and just traded it in for the 2020 Sonata and love all the bells and whistles, very comfortable to drive. Love the heads up display, heated steering wheel, heated and cooling seats all the camera’s and blind spot display. Very comfortable ride.

Great Car - Non-competitive Price
I test drove the car and really liked it. The dealers over-priced the car and I got a better lease deal on a comparable Nissan Altima.
Traded in my 2019 Mercedes CLS for the 2020 Sonata
I 100% love the Sonata limited! It has everything I loved about my 2019 Mercedes CLS for 1/3 of the price and the Sonata actually has features that the benz did not have. It drives very well around town, on the highway and in the twisties. You can find more details about this car by going to Youtube and typing in Blazing 903. I have owned this car for a few months and I could not be happier.
Upgraded
Had a 16 Optima SXL before getting my Sonata-- the Optima had more bells an whistles and I do miss some things about the Optima, but I couldn't beat the deal I got on the SEL Plus with Tech package, and, so long as you stay away from the goofy, "Centerpoint" feature available on the sounds system, it is one of the best I've ever heard in a car. Definitely miss the 2.0 that the Optima had and maybe could have waited to grab the N-line, but overall this car has enough power for basically any around-town need, and I often drive far faster than other people on the highway. My only complaint with this car is that if you use the paddle shifters it will- after only a short time-take back control and start shifting for you which negates the reason for having them. However, this is a small gripe since most people, especially you, reading this won't ever touch those, unless accidentally. This is a fantastic car, and I do highly recommend at least getting an SEL so that you have BlueLink available to you so you can remote start the vehicle and set the seats and thermostat without having to even be nearby; that is a huge benefit to this car. (Short aside-- the app itself actually works very well, too.) Again ,can't recommend this car enough-- at least go test drive one and consider it if it wasn't in your radar already.

5 out 6 isn’t bad. However 6 is awful!
My 2020 Sonata is my 6th one. Within a week of purchasing the vehicle the transmission had to occasions that ot would not go into gear, and when accelerating from a stop the car would bog down similar to if the fuel pump was failing. This week after having the oil changed it started making a knocking noise. Mind you I just changed the oil so low oil should not be an issue. I don’t feel safe driving this vehicle seeing I cannot be certain it will accelerate properly. Now I am worried that the engine will give out and leave me stranded
Still love this car
I love this car. It drives great and has plenty of power. This car rides smoothly and handles precisely . If I were to have any issues it would be the city gas mileage which isn’t great but acceptable.

It just keeps getting worse!
Update: Almost 3 years now and the problems leveled off at crappy. I will add however the customer service (or lack there of actually) of Hyundai is ALMOST as bad as their actual Service Departments. Horrible experience from day one. I personally will never even consider owning another Hyundai after this experience. The car is starting to fall apart before 20K and 2 years.
Bad passenger seat
Front passenger seat does not go up and down. One would think that if you buy a sonata limited you would get a six way power seat. I was told to buy a pillow for my wife.
Awesome
I am up in age and had a number of cars in my life time and this so far is the most exciting car I have ever had it handles awesome and has plenty of spunk, I have a A BIG COMPLAINT HYUNDAI SHOULD STOP THERE FALSE ADVERTISING They show you in there Limited addition The LEATHER INTERIOR IS THE DAME AS THE SEATS ON THE ARM REST AND ON THE DASJH BOARD AND IT IS NOT AVAILABLE BUT THEY SO. OT TELL THIS UNTIL YOU ASK THEM WHEN YOU GET DELIVERY IT IS NOT AN OPTION ??

Great value and a nice ride
We got rid of our 2015 Accord for this car and couldn't be happier. The wide range of safety and convenience features are great. The ride is smooth and quiet. I would like to know why they downsized the engine, though... UPDATE: Made an impromptu trip from SoCal to Western Montana in October and the car was outstanding. We are getting more comfortable and trusting with the myriad safety features of the Sonata, and are totally pleased. UPDATE: Drove from SoCal to Jasper/Hinton, Alberta. We really like this car, but did notice the 1.6 could have used a little more "umph" in passing situations. (Why did they get rid of the 2.0?) From Missoula, Montana, to home (1220 miles on Interstates), we logged over 40 combined mpg! UPDATE: I've checked and rechecked the mileage, and can honestly say this car gets 44 mpg on the freeways, including cruising speeds of 75 and 80 mph. Still love the car, which now has about 28k miles. I replaced cabin and engine air filters with OEM pieces from dealer. Other maintenance has been under warranty, of course. UPDATE 2/13/24: Still happy with the car at 55,000 miles. The passenger side "auto up" window switch doesn't usually work from the driver's side control, but dealership insists it "cannot replicate" the problem. No concerns, otherwise.

it is a little lower to get in and out of than a sport utility vehicle, and front spoiler is low to ground so be careful when parking and pulling in to spots or curb.excellent ride room and gas mileage. Loved everything about my Sonata
Had my 2020 Sonata Limited for 4 years now. Love everything about it. I quickly got used to the heads up display. Cooled seats in Florida are wonderful. One minor quirk. The dash would tell me to put two hands on the steering wheel when I already had both hands on the wheel. Just traded this in on a 2024 Sonata Hybrid Limited. Will see how the hybrid does.

This is a great car.
I bought our Sonata Limited for my wife in May of 2020. I looked at the Nissan, Camry and Accord. I picked the black/tan interior Sonata. I opted for the 10 year warranty. My wife religiously sticks to the prescribed scheduled maintenance. It’s free with the 1 year warranty. We love the look of the car. The safety features saved me from one accident in City traffic. The display is great and very logical. The interior looks great and is very comfortable. I confess to not using many of the tech features. I don’t drive car the too often. I love the windshield display of speed limits and current rate of speed. I’m 6 feet and usually a passenger. It is get comfortable. The back seat is comfortable for me when i happen to be there. The trunk is very large. The acceleration is good when passing on the highway. Engine noise is very low. Mileage is great. When I drive it, I do notice a small bit of road noise. It could just be me or the Florida roads. We have had one problem with the AC/heater fan intermittently not running. In the Florida heat it was oppressive. My wife took it in and the dealership said the problem was a sub wiring harness. They gave us a rental with Enterprise free of charge. NOTE: it took 4 months for the part to come in. The bill was 5k. This would be catastrophic to a family having bought it used with no warranty. Some parts take a long time to arrive I’ve heard. I can attest to that. All in all, this is an exceptionally good car and I would recommend it to anyone.
