Five years of reliability
We bought our fully loaded Santa Fe Limited after losing faith with Ford Explorers, of which we had four over 15 years. After five years we can say the following: * AWD is excellent despite 40/60 front/rear. Full 4WD is stable. * No torque steer * Six speed tranny has some minor quirks and occasional hard shifts, but has not developed any real problems. * Too many bells and whistles and multiple menus for my taste, but that is coming from a driver who drove pickups as a kid with nothing but three-on-the-tree and an AM radio. * Factory tires are cheap and subject to replacement if you take a nail or screw on the should/sidewall. Replaced all four at 25,000 miles with Michelin AT's and have a much better driving experience. * Styling of exterior and interior fit/finish are both top quality. * Wife likes entry without having to use a hand bar and fully adjustable passenger seat (powered) * Storage is as good as any full size suv with almost six feet of bed behind the front seats. * Factory battery will fail unless you drive regularly. Dealer was very helpful in getting a replacement for low mileage drivers. * Driver field of vision is pretty good, except when angle parked and looking over right should through C pillar. Back up warning system is a big help. * Plenty of pep without a turbo using the V6 and mileage is about average * Brakes are terrific--very smooth and reactive * Overall a very good purchase and driving experience for a great looking vehicle.
