2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL 4dr Crew Cab AWD SB (3.5L 6cyl 9A)

I’m on my second gen 2 ridgeline. I traded my 2017 RTLE with 90k miles for a 2021 RTL. Simply put, the best vehicles I’ve ever owned! On the first one I purchased I traded my Explorer, F150 and Buick LaCrosse since the Ridgeline fulfilled all 3 missions. Lux interior and ride, room for 5 around town, 4 on long trips, excellent storage and utility for shopping and outdoor activities and a decent load carrying capability for weekend trips to the garden center while keeping the ability to tow my 20’ boat. All that and it’s AWD is stable as a rock in the snow! After over 100k miles between the two trucks, I’ve averaged over 23 mpg city/hwy and had only standard maintenance while the tires lasted 85k miles. Why the RTL downgrade second time around? Most 2017 options are now standard at the RTL trim and I never used the in-bed audio system or power outlets. Saved $4,000.

RTL Ridgeline Review

Purchased a 2022 Ridgeline RTL just before Christmas and have approx. 300 miles. Here are my thoughts so far . . . Love the truck! Started out looking to replace my 2017 Tacoma Sport and was looking primarily at Chevy and Toyota. Somehow I got turned onto the Ridgeline. I guess I was like allot of other buyers that didn't really think of the Ridgeline as a real truck. Anyway after checking them out I decided that this was exactly was I was looking for. Not as sexy as the Tacoma but way more functional for what I needed. Love the comfortable ride of the truck, feels and drives like a SUV. My wife likes the fact that is just a little lower than the Toyota and easier to get in and out of. The placement of the passenger handle above the door helps with that. The flip up back seats provide so much space for carrying stuff like groceries. Looks like the perfect place for the golf clubs also. Tailgate and the trunk in the bed where the main selling points for me. Haven't used the trunk yet but have plenty of ideas on how it will be used in the near future. Still tying to decide if I need a tonneau cover. Had one on my Toyota and loved it but with the truck and back seat not sure I will need one. There are a couple of things that I don't like. Not to crazy about the Gray wheels. It seems everyone is going for the blacked out look but it's not for me. Give some old fashion shiny polished wheels. Not a big fan of the push button transmission. Maybe just need some more time to get used to it but miss the stick. Have not been able to get the Homelink to work with my garage yet. And lastly there is no compass. I don't need the navigation system but a compass would have been nice. There are a few safety features I did not have on the Toyota like lane departure and cross traffic monitor. Still playing around with them. The jury is still out on those items. Over all very satisfied with my purchase and glad I went with the Honda - It really is a truck - kinda!

A luxury car that's a truck

Traded my Silverado LTZ for a new 2022 RTL-E. The Silverado was nice, but GM has too many issues. I don't tow. Just need a pickup for weekend hardware store runs and other occasional light duties. The Ridgeline fits my needs perfectly. It rides and handles great, probably the best riding vehicle I've ever owned. The engine and transmission are buttery smooth. It's my daily driver and very comfortable. I'm averaging about 23mpg so far. Seats are top notch. Not sure I like the push buttons over a shifter but you get used to it. All the Honda sensing is a little overwhelming to operate. Once I got all the adjustments made the stereo sounds wonderful. The versatile tailgate and trunk are so useful and I added a tonneau cover to make it even better. I upgraded to Michelin Defender 265 tires (from 245) which look and ride so much better than the OEM Firestones. My only complaint would be I learned after the fact this is an expensive vehicle to maintain (it uses a timing belt which is required every 100k miles and the 9 speed ZF transmission uses super expensive proprietary fluid). Also the rear differential need frequent fluid changes especially if you live in the mountains. If shopping for a used Ridgeline make sure the service intervals are being followed to the letter. Don't see many on the road which is fine by me. Overall a wonderful vehicle.

What do you want in a truck?

I'm about 1750 miles into my 2022 Ridgeline RTL-E and so far I have been extremely satisfied. As a person who isn't naturally crazy about vehicles, I had to ask myself what I was really looking for in my next vehicle. For reference, I had a perfectly ordinary 2015 Ford Fusion which got me from A to B. From that vehicle, I realized a couple of things. I wanted to ride up higher, I wanted 6 cylinders or more and I wanted a vehicle I could love (not just like). My lifestyle is becoming more and more outdoors and needing to haul some gear was more important than when I bought the Fusion. So... I decided on a truck. The initial trucks I looked at were full size. The Ford F-150 and the Ram 1500. Loved both of them, but here are the problems I had with them. To get a leather trim, you were easily in the sixties for prices (thank you Covid) and the gas mileage is abysmal. I drove my friends 1500 and he was getting 15-16mpg on average. The other thing I realized about full size trucks is turning radius - it's horrible. Having a big truck makes you feel manly, but you need to be able to park it and get around. Gas mileage, cost, turning radius and the realization that I didn't need THAT much truck had me look at midsize... Obviously, everyone looks at the Tacoma. It LOOKS GREAT. But that's about it. It hasn't been redesigned in forever and the ride shows it. The technology and the dash just seemed dated and the local dealers couldn't be bothered with following up on emails and calls. It's a noisy ride! Again, leather was a very high level trim. Nothing except the looks and the previous reputation were in its favor. I kept looking at the Honda on Edmunds as the number 1 midsize but it has so little market share. Finally, I decided to expand my horizons and went in to a dealer to test drive it. I bought it the next day. Ride - for reference, my wife has a Lexus RX350 and I have to say the Ridgeline is nearly as good. Even my wife on her first experience commented (unprompted) how good the ride was. It drives like a car. This is the thing that the Honda Ridgeline gets great marks on and is known for. Check! Turning radius - not quite as good as most cars, but it is far better than any other truck I have driven. I don't know for sure, but I'd say it's within 10% of most cars. Check! RTL-E has leather trim and feels good. Cost out the door was around $50k before my trade-in. Check! Gas mileage - I have averaged 20.8 overall so far and this is a mix of town and highway so I think pretty good all told. The truck has an Eco mode (haven't used) and it will turn itself off at stop lights (have used) Technology - very good. Touch screen is much more responsive than older systems and Car Play was one of the must have features that I had to have. Adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, lane departure, etc. etc. Good stuff overall - the only thing I could wish it had was seat A/C. This last sentence sounds silly until you try it on a long drive. Lexus RX350 has it and it is the bomb. Since my dog is my buddy, I have the back seats folded up and put in a dog couch. The back doors open plenty well for me. I think Gen1 owners complained and had to modify the door. No such issues for me. 5'4" cab is plenty for my gear and home depot runs. There are tie holds and it is already lined with a tough plastic bed liner, so I'm good. The AC outlet in the back might be useful one day. Storage container under the bed is great. So is the back door opening two ways. I added a Tonneau cover and called it a day. The issues I've heard about Ridgelines are that sometimes rain can move from the bed back into the back of the truck. I looked at this carefully when I first got it, but no issues and I have a cover and I am keeping it a garage. Weep holes seemed to work as promised. I was even pulling the carpet back in the back seat to see if there was an issue, but nothing. Ask your dealer if this is still an issue or look it up yourself. The only other thing is VCM (type Honda VCM in wikipedia). However, I think the number of actual issues on this has to be very small across all Ridgelines and I am not planning on using eco mode anyway. check out the Honda Ridgeline forums (independent). So, I have found a vehicle that I truly am happy with and now look forward to driving and the biggest surprise of all is that I am starting to see more of them around me. My recommendation is definitely give this a test drive and compare what you're really looking for to how the Ridgeline may deliver for you. So far, I have made the right choice.

Transmission Issue - Twice

Disappointed in new truck, 10/07/2022

41 of 43 people found this review helpful

At 3,000 miles the truck would not come out of park and was showing a transmission fault on the screen. After locking/unlockfing with the key fob a few times it went into drive. The dealer claimed to have fixed it. 90 miles from home it happened again. Honda roadside could not find a tow service that night that could handle a truck stuck in park. I took of from work the next day and after 3 hours Honda Roadside said they could not help and I should handle it myself. A second dealer replaced the transmission module and the truck is running ok. However, I have lost confidence in the truck. The most important thing for a vehicle is reliability and this truck does not have it. Otherwise it is a good truck. I should have gone with toyota.

NOT A REAL TRUCK ?

No leaf springs , check. No frame on body , check . People say it doesn’t drive like a truck And …THANK YOU . I’ve had two jeep wranglers . Both double duty daily drivers . They were so much fun but beat the Hell outta me and bounced all over driving down the roads. Had a Toyota Tundra to haul my 450 Yamaha YZF to district 37 races. But this little Honda ( and I hated them and thought they were stupid) caught me and kept me with so much of its innovation. Test drive one and I promise you…you will be hard fought to justify another brand mid size truck. It’s interior is ROOMY and it’s rear seats fold flat UP . My pity Dog 🐶 loves to sit shotgun. He’s torn up the passenger window material with his thumbnails something awful. but I feel it’s a badge of honor and hey ITS A TRUCK. I’ve slept in a tent that fits in the bed . Love the rear storage in the bed ( I’ve hidden wood for camping as the campgrounds in california don’t allow outside firewood) 6 speakers in the bed and waterproof for camping parties ! Been through snow and mud with no problems fishing in back country of mammoth lakes Yes …it could look a little more tougher ..come on HONDA …and the gas mileage above stating 19+ MPG don’t make me laugh …16 at best in economy mode ! I have just under fifty thousand miles at three and a half years . No problems to report. Love my truck

Headlights are like driving vehicles from the early 2000s. Very poor compared to the 2018Toyota I trade in. Highbeam is a halogen bulb ( yellow light ) and low beam is dull Led white light. I had to go and buy new Led bulbs after spending $45000. The other problem is that the passager seat can not adjust up or down. My wife's feet cannot touch the floor.

I have owned the 2022 Ridgeline now for almost 18 months. Perfect all around medium sized truck! So far no shop visits, no failures of any sort, it performs as advertised. Its comfortable, quiet, economical to operate and the interior is not much smaller than some of the full size trucks! I have pulled a trailer and carried loads up to the max specifications/capacity without any problems. Driving at the highway speed limit (70 MPH in this area) this truck can get up to 28 MPG and overall for the duration of ownership it is at 23 MPG. In town with all the stop and go it will return 18 to 20 MPG. Having tested all other medium sized pickups before my purchase, i feel fully satisfied with my choice. I highly recommend it as an all around medium size truck for those who don't need to haul a large horse or boat or rv trailer around.

Ridgeline ... for the win

Other reviews discuss the dual working tailgate, the cooler sized rear locking bed storage and folding rear passenger seats. I love the gizmos, some are a little dated yet functional. There's nothing I'd change about this vehicle. Cleats for tie-down in rear bed. Add a rear bed cover to save up to 10% on gas. The rear window open/close button is a nice touch on my Black Edition. Paid a premium for my Ridgeline, bought off lot in the color I wanted. Like others have said, the ride is SUV like, built off Pilot platform and if you drive it you'll buy it. Enjoy! 😁

Great Truck for a non-truck driver

I bought this Ridgeline when the market was very tight on inventory and paid MSRP and I think I got a good deal. Most dealers re marking up $3-5K plus loading on another $2-3K of accessories that I did not need or want. The RTL model has all the bells and whistles I wanted except the 110V outlets but, I have an inverter so no big deal, My 2 previous cars were a Volvo XC60 and a Mini Cooper R60S so, the driving experience of most trucks leaves a lot to be desired. Nissan Frontier, well built but drives like something 2-3 times its size, Tacoma, almost as bad and has a harsh ride. The Ridgeline drives like an SUV. It is smooth, quiet and handles well. It has a leather interior, sunroof, decent radio, can tow up to 5000# and has great safety features. It is a home run for my needs. To top it off, my Murano driving wife loves driving it. Slam Dunk!

More truck than most others

Better steel, better ride, better usability, better features…it’s fast, it’s AWD. Other than more ground clearance and a higher tow rating, it’s better in every way than a Chevy or Ford. You won’t have dropped valves, clogged DPFs, stuck injectors, a front end that falls apart. It’s a perfect truck for 90% of us out there not hauling stuff daily. My 2 complaints: infotainment is erratic (CarPlay may or may not work), and Hondas legendary paper thin paint. However, an oil change takes 20 minutes, it’s the tried and true J35, and the in bed trunk and rear storage is amazing. Can’t fathom paying 60k for a Chevy with an engine that has a chronic misfire. Spend more time at the dealer than on the road….

2nd Ridgeline

I have purchased a new '22 Ridgeline to replace my 2019 version, and I like the new version even better than the '19. The infotainment is a little better with the added volume knob, and the gear paddles allow me to choose the gear I want without gunning the engine. Small complaints with the older model to be sure. The '22 rides well, the seat is comfortable, I have the paddles, the push-button shifter works well, grill looks more like a 'real' truck, fuel economy is good, and the red this year is more 'fire engine' and less maroon. I wish the blind spot camera was still a thing, but Honda decided against it, I guess. Tires look more off-road and less minivan but still ride well. The Honda road noise is better than usual, I think, and the versatile tailgate still surprises some people who are unfamiliar. I can drive this thing for hours and feel fine. Apple play is included and between that and the infotainment system, all is good. The rear door opens wider than before and that's definitely a good thing if you're trying to put something bulky in the back seat. Heated seats work well, the heated steering wheel is a blessing on cold days and the climate control is very user-friendly. I've owned F150s in Lariat and King Ranch flavors, and they're darned nice, but for the money (2/3 of a KR), the RL is a great vehicle for someone who needs a truck only occasionally, or who just likes driving a truck-like vehicle. Complaints: the blind spot camera is gone, infotainment system is not as good as some other vehicles, and I would like to see more options when it comes to interior colors. But these are very minor complaints for this very good vehicle. UPDATE: I own a 2019 Ridgeline and was shopping for a new Ridgeline. I worked through the packages and options and settled on the RTL-E. Found one in red and pulled the trigger. The redesign of the Ridgeline looks better to me and most of my friends. Styling is subtle but I think will stand the test of time. Chunkier front end, dual exhausts and paddle shifters are all improvements as far as I’m concerned. The new Ridgeline is what I prefer to drive these days and not just because it’s new. I’ve owned/own BMWs and Audis and Fords and all the Japanese brands and MINIs and Fiats and Lancias and the Ridgeline is what I drive when I want to go from Point A to Point B comfortably. The rear doors open wider than before, the driver’s seat is very comfortable, the interior is quiet, the ride is great, the rear passengers have plenty of knee-room, acceleration is good, the motor and transmission work well together, the underbed storage is super, the cabin cools quickly in Texas-sized heat, and the tailgate makes it easier to access the bed in whatever fashion I need. The truck is bulletproof, but parts are available anywhere (though I have never had a Honda/Acura break down on me). The infotainment system is a little clunky and not particularly intuitive, but eventually you figure it out. Sound system performance is good. Not as luxurious as the King Ranch F150 I owned or the KR Explorer I have now, but it costs a lot less. I hope Honda continues to build trucks and I plan to always have one in the fleet.

Best Mid SIze Truck On The Market

After owning a full size SUV, test drove several vehicles and decided to go with the 2022 Ridgeline. Never owned a truck before, so was skeptical. However, this is not your ordinary truck. I patiently waited for the desirable exterior and interior color combo. All the style of a SUV with the added cargo space. After a few trips to Home Depot and Lowes - so glad made this decision. The two way tail gate is a versatile gem. The Ridgeline's unibody chassis, fully independent suspension and a torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system make the vehicle quiet and firm to drive. Unrivaled among midsize pickups — this is where the benefits of being a car-based truck shine through. Key - feels stable and composed around turns. Least I can say, it is reliable and recommend test driving. Read stories of long wait and poor inventory. In the Charlotte NC area, inventory is surprisingly fair with most dealers having some inventory. UPDATE: We purchased the 2022 Honda Ridgeline after have two full size SUV's. Doing more road traveling and wanted the room for family and dog. After six (6) months totally convinced we made the correct decision. The vehicle looks great, like the interior, comfortable seating and drives well. Hauls enough and great for our local trips to Home Depot or Lowes.

The blunt truth

There is a LOT to really like about the Ridgeline, and a few things Honda really needs to correct. First, the good. The sheer utility of this "Not A Real Truck" or "NART" is truly off the charts. The bed is wide enough to fit 4x8 plywood or drywall - compare that to any other mid-size truck. The in-bed trunk is an amazingly useful benefit that nothing else has. The dual action tailgate makes accessing eithe rbed or trunk much easier. The interior is spacious, with lots of storage. The rear seats fold up and out of the way exposing a cavernous second row. The drivign dynamics are great, fuel mileage is good, visibility is very good. All in all, there is a LOT to really love here. And the bad... Honda serious cheaped out on the infotainment head unit. Voice recognition/navigation are terrible. Apple Carplay integration freezes the unit regularly. The wireless charging pad is barely functional, for a few seconds before wigging out. At the higher trim levels, there's no excuse not to have rain sensing automatic wipers. If I'm really nitpicking, the transmission could shift a bit faster, especially between reverse and drive. 3 point turns make you appear to drive like a grandma. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase, and I'd rather have the Ridgeline than any other mid-size truck, but Honda's really missing the mark on a few quality of life items.

Less than 2,000 miles, AC has failed twice

We put a deposit down on a 2021 Ridgeline in July of 2021, finally took delivery of a 2022 in December. Truck is nice, rides nice, although the pushbutton shifter is a head-scratcher. Seriously? Anyway, AC went out after about 1500 miles, dealer replaced the compressor, 300 miles later and the AC is out again. At this rate we will probably end up going lemon law. I know Honda has always had issues with AC, but this is ridiculous.

Took possession of the vehicle in early March this year. Very impressed with quality and driving characteristics(replaced a 2016 RX350). Test drove a 2017 model owned by my brother-in-law before making the decision to purchase. Not particularly fond of the push button shift but getting used to it. My only problem with the vehicle is that the clock spring on the steering column has had to be replaced twice already and I am already noticing the creaking sound coming from the steering wheel again which signals that it will have to be replaced again pretty soon. All replacements were done under warranty at the Honda dealer where I purchased the vehicle . Very troubling that this keeps reoccurring especially over so short a time span. Has anyone else experienced this problem? [contact info removed]

Very happy here. I've now been driving my new RTL-E Ridgeline for about 1 month now and am very pleased. I had to wait almost 3 months for delivery but it was worth the wait. very happy with the ride and versatility of the all the features. I also ordered the tonneau cover package which works great and better than all the other ones I have been eyeing on other pickups. Love the in-bed storage where I store tools and various other items. I also like the fold up rear seats which provide a lot of storage room which I've been using for my golf clubs since nobody usually sits back there...... an excellent design by Honda. I'll bet this provides as much trip storage room as any large SUV out there but still has the pickup truck bed capabilities. my mileage seems to be around 22 mpg so far. I recommend this vehicle so definitely go test drive one.

An Excellent Mid Size Truck

Have owned this vehicle for a few months. Very sturdy feel. Good handling with good not smooth riding. Nice interior features. Adequate cargo space for my needs.A truck version of the Pilot. UPDATE: Have driven and owned large size SUV for past 15 years. Decided to give a go at the Honda Ridgeline. Did not want a larger truck. This is like no other midsize truck. Sharp styling, good ride, drives and handles like an SUV, with more storage area. I did and do not care about the off-road capabilities. Driven short and long distances about 600 miles without stopping (other than fuel) and was more comfortable than expected.

Just got our new Ridgeline 2022 and so far so good. Someone said there wasn't a compass - ours has a compass in the center of dash. (You have to set to the compass) Rides great, good storage, backend bed locks and so much more. Only thing we cannot find is a way to automatically fold in the side mirrors - surely that would be standard. This is our 3rd Ridgeline - nicest so far.

Similar to anyone looking to drop serious dime, I did my research. After looking/driving,Tacoma,Frontier,Ranger,Canyon,and Ridgeline best value was the Ridgeline. By the time any others were optioned out the way I wanted, the price-point was virtually the same. Smooth ride, nice features and enough "truck" aspects to haul, and tow the boat. Plus it's a Honda.............

First time lease on a vehicle. July of 2022 leased the 22 Black Edition Ridgeline. At 5000 miles check engine light turned on. Emissions issue. Took it to Hugh White Honda in Athens Ohio for repair. Oct of 22. They cleared code nothing found. Jan 23 code came back actually several codes. They looked at it claim nothing found. Happened again Mar 23. Took it to Buckeye Honda Lancaster Oh.They replaced emission components. Two weeks later light back on. Replaced fuel filler neck. June 23 light on again. At 14,000 miles. Took truck to Buckeye Honda again to get oil change and resolve emission issue. I informed them the light averages turning on every 3500 miles. The service advisor at Buckeye Honda informed me she owns the same vehicle with no issues. I guess that makes me a lucky sob. Then her next statement was that’s why you have a warranty. Called Honda corporate, No resolution. How many times do I have to take it in for repairs before issue is resolved. And I informed Honda I wanted my truck fixed or take it back. Of course we Al know it doesn’t work that way. You have to play the game. And I didn’t want another Honda Ridgeline. I made the decision to go to another dealership and got out of the lease and took the hit. Bought another brand truck . I do not recommend a Ridgeline.

My only vehicles for the last 17 years have been a 2006 RL RTS, a 2010 RTL and now my new 2022 RTL E. I like RLs. Ride, power, sound system, handling are all superior to my Gen 1 RLs. Build quality is excellent, cabin is quiet, really enjoy driving this truck. Off road, sure it lacks some but I don’t do any significant off roading. Daily driving, it’s best in class, second place is not close. Really needs a proper center console arm rest, current version is inadequate. Significant dissatisfier. Would definitely buy again.

I just sold my 2013 Ridgeline and purchased a 2022 Ridgeline. Both vehicles are fantastic! Never had any issues at all with the 2013... quality is excellent. The 2022 is like driving a luxury car but with the benefits of a truck. It drives smooth and quiet. Will be a great ride for those long highway trips. I was hesitant to spend the extra $$$ for the upgrade but glad I did. I did a significant amount of research comparing the new Ridgeline to the Tacoma, Colorado, and Maverick and, in my option, the Ridgeline wins hands down. The interior room, ride, tail gate function and bed trunk make the Ridgeline far superior. This truck will last me for at least another 10 years!

Honda Ruined A Great Truck

Disappointed Ridgeline Owner, 08/31/2022
2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL 4dr Crew Cab AWD SB (3.5L 6cyl 9A)

I previously had a 2019 Ridgeline. I LOVED that truck and purchased a 2022 Ridgeline when the 2019 developed transmission problems at about 30,000 miles. I should have known better. The 2022 is just terrible. You have to remove a plastic engine cover and an exhaust manifold to access the battery. The push button transmission is sloppy and it is EASY to get the truck in the wrong gear (forward or reverse) when parking. There is no option to install a CD player as Hinda removed the connector. The truck turns off when you stop and there is no way to permanently over ride this feature, which cause a delay when starting. This Ridgeline is just a complete piece of junk. I am sorry I bought it and would never buy another. Why Honda, did you ruin what WAS a really good vehicle?

Great ride really bad tech - won't recommend

This is my third Ridgeline. I loved my first 2 and put well over 250K miles on both. The 2022 ride is very comfortable with good ergonomics and room for 4-adults. The engine performance is very good. The 3-clutch transmission is a little quirky, it tends to roll a bit before engaging. This can cause a hesitation when driving with the auto engine shutoff feature. Mileage after 26K is over 24 mpg. I especially like the trunk under the cargo bed, which locks and is water-tight. I wish the cargo gate also locked, which would be pride additional secure storage with a hard tonneau cover. The sonar can also be quirky. If you get snow, too much bug splatter, or a car is approaching on an inside cure, the sonar trips the onsafety braking. Despite all of the positive features, the navigation, radio controls, hands free features, Blue Tooth, Honda Link; in short, the entire tech package is just terrible. It rarely works properly. The nav system is awkward and unless you have the exact street address, cannot locate very common sites or places. Voice commands are a joke. Despite otherwise great ride and performance, the tech is so bad that it make me dislike the vehicle. I doubt I'll buy another.

Before I get started, yes, there will be some that say this isn't a real truck. I can also tell you that I have pulled a 4,500 lb loaded Uhaul trailer and have hauled 1,700 lbs of sand in the bed - no issues whatsoever. My former truck was a Tacoma and try getting 2 kids crammed in the back seat, not to mention the driver seating position was horrible (but I hear that Toyota may have corrected that). I have owned my Ridgeline for 18 months and not one issue thus far. I am averaging 22.3 mpg which is also better than the Tacoma was getting. Its a great everyday truck, I don't need to go climb mountains, mud racing, bajaing or look cool, I just needed an everyday comfortable truck that does the basic stuff and can handle a couple of preteens.

There is NOTHING to complain about in this car. The cabin is smartly appointed with black leather including subtle red accents. The seat is comfortable and the ride is sedan-like smooth. I get between 25.1 to 25.6 mpg...for real! I am spoiled by the driver assist package and love driving with moonroof and rear sliding window open. Not only is it a great ride but it IS a pickup and useful for hauling whatever. I love the truck and highly recommend it.

I’ve followed Edmunds consumer reviews for at-least 10 years and find them very accurate to the real world reliability of vehicles. Exactly because we are the user! That being said we love our Ridgeline. 0 issues. As a truck it rides like an entry level luxury SUV. The info screen is simple to use as well as being big and bright. We love the big trunk in the bed. The leather seats are soooo comfortable. I actually napped in the back seat and slept well. We have taken 2 road trips and after 8 hours driving you’re not sore. Highly recommend! About the only thing I wish it had on the backup camera is a way to see forward/and the fwd sides. No biggy but that is the only thing I find lacking. Everything else is positives. We bought it comparing it to the Sienna mini van and Mazda CX9. Sienna not rated as well and even if it was we still would have chose Ridgeline. CX9 rated well but we love the Ridgeline more. No regrets! Lastly must throw a shout out to our 08 Element which is far from luxury but we love her too!

Capless Fuel Tank Is Annoying

Dave , 08/19/2022

2 of 5 people found this review helpful

If I had been paying attention, I would have remembered that my old 2019 Civic had a Capless Fuel Tank that annoyed me. I would not have bought another Honda. No matter how cautious one can be, you always seem to get a few drops of fuel in places where it does not belong. The XM Satellite Radio is spotty. I get a lot of signal cut, though only seconds, in Southern California. I bought a 2022 RTL-E and got a fair discount down from MSRP as it was becoming 'aged inventory.' I do like that the cabin is much larger than the Tacoma Double Cab, which I drove for a couple months back in 2021. The Ridgeline has AC vents for rear passengers, plenty of leg room, and quite generous elbow room as it is a wider truck than a Tacoma. One more downside is the poor turning radius, even for a mid-size truck. The V6 is great and I really hope that does not disappear. Transmission is fairly smooth but a bit lazy in default mode which we could assume is for gas mileage. I was getting 17.5 mpg mixed, but that seems to be going up to 18.5 or better with the addition of an aftermarket bed cover. The Firestone LE2 are noisy but not a deal breaker. The tread looks more aggressive from a side view, but these are definitely not for all terrain.

At first I wasn't sure I was going to like this vehicle. After having a 2014 F-150, stepping down to this vehicle was a big change. Ford priced me out of their range and so I took it. Look at this Ridgeline. It has all the luxury that I had in my F-150, great gas mileage at about 24 miles per gallon overall, and it rides quite well. Quite advanced and the best part was it was a full $25,000 less than the F-150 I would have bought to replace my 2014. I've only got 3,000 mi on it so arguably, things can change, but right now I'm very happy with this purchase.

My 2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E is my second Ridgeline (both 2nd Generation Ridgelines). It is perfect for my needs and there is very little about it I don't like. There is, however, one glaring deficiency/shorfall that in my opinion sets it back from a stellar 5 Star Rating: low end torque. There is none. This truck is optimized for fuel efficiency, more or less, which includes an almost non-existent low end torque. It feels sluggish...acceleration is sluggish....there is no "feel" of power with this truck engine. Personally, I would never tow anything with it other than small, light trailers, etc. despite all claims to the contrary. Basically, I would describe the torque as anemic. Don't get me wrong....I do like the truck very much, but it would be perfect with a higher torque engine in it.

Love the safety features newer vehicles have today! The RTL-E has all of the new modern safety features, although I have shut off the lane departure feature. Great ride for a pickup truck and love all the unique features on it like the dual action tailgate, bed trunk, & bed audio. Turning radius is much better than the full-size pickup trucks. I know the Tacoma’s are more popular (had one…daughter now drives it), but the new Ridgeline’s are much more comfortable & much better vehicle.
