I have owned the new Insight for a year now and I think I understand how the sports mode can help reduce the occasional high revs that occur in the engine when the electric battery pack is low. The sports mode keeps the battery pack at least half full to full so your car has the power to handle passing, and smoothly get up steep hills and mountains. In the economy mode the battery is often low and causes the engine to rev up a lot to get up the steep hills, or to pass a vehicle in the fast lane. I recommend using the sports mode in mountainous areas and the economy mode in flat areas.

2020 Insight EX has given me amazing mpg, especially in traffic. Value also comes from the technology, and it looks fabulous. I trust Hondas build quality, and for the price you get more than you would expect, but dont expect a luxury ride, just a better ride than a Prius, and looks way betterr than a Prius, in my opinion. Putting it into Sport mode, I find its surprisingly peppy and fun. Again, for its price, any "cons" are easy to deal with. I love this car.

Had the car over a year. Really nice car. It is quiet and rides like a compact luxury car. It is solid and fast. Have no problems getting up to speed especially in sport mode. So far, I am getting about 47 miles per gallon in mixed driving not bad for an aggressive driver. When the gas engine kicks in it is noticeable. It is really not that bad when you get use to it. I think that it is more noticeable because the car is super quiet otherwise. It is a typical Honda. It cannot be beat for the price. I have the 2020 EX. The driver's seat would be more comfortable with lumbar support and power adjustments. My biggest complaints are that auto play only works on Apple phones will not connect with an android phone and does not come with a spare tire. Both of those would have been deal breakers for me if I would have known at time of purchase. The fit and finish is excellent. It handles the road exceptionally well at high speeds no wind noise and very little road noise. So far, I think that the Insight is an excellent car. If I had to do it over again, I would get the top of the line model with leather, sun roof and power seats basically because the car drives, rides, handles and looks like an entry level luxury car. The radio sound quality in the EX is excellent. Overall, the Insight is a great value for the money. One year later still an excellent car. The ride is excellent on all roads. I have over 8 thousand miles with no issues or problems.

I have owned Hondas exclusively for the last 13 years. I have loved them all. I bought this somewhat on a whim because I drive over mountains 80 miles round trip daily and my 2005 CRV-SE is getting old and is thirsty. The MPG was the biggest influence in my choice but the aesthetic over the Prius was the big bonus. I bought the Touring Edition and my favorite feature is ELECTRIC SEATS! I have the seat all the way up because it sits low and I have old knees. This brings me to my ONLY criticism of this car. I'm only 5'6" and with the seat up my hair, yes I have big hair...go '80's, brushes the ceiling sometimes. It is annoying. But there is nothing else about the car I don't love. It is PEPPY. I've only driven in EV mode. I drive over mountains on interstate with zero problems. I'm a bit of a hard pedal pusher and I get at least 46 MPG driving 70 - 75mph most of 65 miles of my daily commute. The cameras and adaptive cruise control are amazing assistants for night driving. The car is breathtaking in my opinion. I was really worried having never owned a hybrid that it would not be powerful but that is not a worry. It giddies up. For $27k, you won't find a more dynamic, beautiful, reliable vehicle anywhere.

I did my research and was deciding between the Prius and the Insight. After test driving both the ride and look of the Insight was much better than the Prius so I took the plunge. After 1000 miles of driving now, here are my pros/cons: Pros: Feels powerful, you'd never know it was a hybrid from the drive. Great interior and touchscreen. Cons: No easy hitch option and it makes really loud engine noises when accelerating or going uphill. Really enjoying it though, would recommend.

Just retired and wanted a car to run around town in and maybe take short trips in. We were looking for great fuel mileage, low depreciation and low upkeep. After reading many reviews my wife and I decided on the Insight. We went to the Honda dealer to compare the Insight LE to the LX Accord. We liked the LX Hybrid Accord size and comfort but you got so much more for less on the Insight LE. On the drive home we received almost 60 MPG and I've probably averaged 54 MPG for both city and highway. Highway we get about 50 MPG, 55 around town which is what we use it for mostly. Freeway road noise seems high but then we have had mostly luxury car in the past. My only regret so far is that I should've bought the Touring edition with leather seats. The cloth seats are comfortable but not as easy to clean and we're used to leather. Also the grab handle on the inside of the door is made of cloth which seems like a poor decision since it would be prone to getting soiled. Our interior is tan. Still around town you can't beat this vehicle, quiet, comfortable and easy on the wallet, especially when gas prices in late March at Costco here in Florida are $1.69 for regualr.

Buy the Honda insight to serve as my commuter car. This is my venture into the hybrid market, and I am impressed with all the features you get with a car under 25K. I bought the EX trim and I am very happy with the infotainment interface and the adaptive cruise, lane assistance, and all of the safety features are great. I have driven it 1900 miles so far and the milage is tracking at the published rate of 55 city and 49 hey. I have been getting 47-49 hey during this break-in period. And my city is between 52-61 mpg. The looks great and people don't think it looks like a hybrid! I have a long commute 5 days a week so I will put between 35k- to 40K per year on this vehicle.

Well-designed car with excellent mileage. Beautiful styling and excellent handling. As reviewers point out, the engine is on the loud side when accelerating at higher speeds. Also, there is no spare tire or jack included! Although there is space for a spare tire in the trunk, plan to spend another $200 or so to buy a tire and jack kit to keep you safe.

I've driven my new LX Insight for about 2,500 miles and it does everything amazingly. Super quiet, unbelievably fuel efficient, has a sport mode that is actually fun, incredible bundle of standard tech (great sounding radio, radar cruise control, lane keeping, etc.). I didn't realize a car could be this good.

Honda appears to have done something with the 2020 model to mitigate the engine noise which reverberated throughout the cabin in the 2019 I test drove. This is an amazing car and it is so comfortable! The 2020 is probably the best hybrid vehicle on the market and I couldn't be happier with the purchase!

I bought mine in late 2019. This car is basic. Not very comfortable, low power and a fairly rough ride. It moves around when it hits bumps and divets in the road. But more importantly, it completely shuts down when there’s an issue with the engine. Starting around 10,000 miles I have had to take it into the shop and been stranded. It is difficult to tow as the electrical shut down prevents the gears from going into neutral. They think it’s the fuel pump but there aren’t any fuel pumps available in the USA to repair the vehicles, so we haven’t proven that is the solution. Caution. This issue needs Honda’s attention before you purchase.

Great acceleration. Touring seems more like a luxury car than a Honda. MPG is great. Long drives are very comfortable with heated seats, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control. Turns well and feel very smooth. Accelerates hard up hills. Drive good and looks good. Modern Steel with a black interior is the best color.

Drive is easy and quiet. No road noise to worry about. Mileage is incredible! Overall exterior and interior is luxury - like and comfortable. Love our Hondas! ALso, Kudos to Apple Honda of York for their exemplary customer service!

I bought this car to replace my 2009 Prius only because it was totaled when an 18 year old driving his father’s pickup truck turned left directly in front of me in an intersection. I had no intention of disposing of my Prius which only had 89000 miles and had performed flawlessly since I purchased it new. I looked at the new Prius but hated the styling so looked at hybrid alternatives. The Insight is well-appointed, quiet and gets fantastic mileage, assuming you know how to drive a hybrid. After ten years with the Prius, I clearly do. I do miss the hatchback style of the Prius which is much more versatile. I also don’t particularly like the lowness of the Insight which affects the comfort of entering and exiting the car and makes driving over even minor road dips sometimes problematic.

Looking to buy probably, one of the our last vehicles. This vehicle provides the economic, the physical space, and the long term issues we are looking for. Happy to own Honda since 1978 currently driving the 2008 Element (250000) miles commuting in So.Cal. Waiting for a severance package as my employer is closing my facility. I bought this car in full when I was 19… safe to say it was very important that I made a smart purchase with my years of savings. This car has hands down never been a disappointment. It now has 32,000 miles due to my long commutes and I couldn’t be happier. If you’re questioning buying this car… HERE IS YOUR SIGN! I have the EX / cheaper version and it has more features than I could hope for. The back seats even fold down, heating and cooling start very fast, best back up camera quality possible, can get up to 150mpg when only using the battery, you only need oil changes every 10,000 miles, milage is often in the 60-70s if you utilize the applications in the dash and I live in the valley of the smokey mountains so that says a lot.

This vehicle really suits me well. Efficient, fun to drive and easy to maintain. I love to do my own maintenance. Honda makes this very easy. The maintenance minder tells you what to do and when it needed. So far, with 30,000 miles, this car just keeps getting better. The mileage averages 49 to 52 mpg for the combined city and highway that I drive. I wish I had two...wait, I do. My wife bought the 2021 and I get to maintain it also. She barely warms it up running to the grocery store so the mileage is a bit lower.

I researched and chose the Insight EX 2020. I find it handles well, looks good, has plenty of acceleration and I get over 52 miles to a gallon of regular 87 octane gasoline.

Good gas milage. The safty features are the worse of any car i've owned. If there is a little snow or rain, everything shuts down. The time you need the safty features most is the time you cannot depend on them. The car sits low and there is a sheild under the engine that keep coming down. Honda has repaired it 4 times now and i do not have any confidance in their work.

20K on 2020 Touring. I drive to achieve fuel millage and this car gets 50MPG in the real world. When the engine note irritates I switch to sport mode and find relief. Driving dynamics are better than the 2014 Accord Hybrid traded in with 119K on the clock, slightly more chop. Would be a very nice touring car for two people.

The Insight is well equipped, roomy, and handles well. It responds well in hybrid mode, but if you want it to be a little more zippy, you can shift it into sport mode. Mileage is as advertised, and it's loaded with safety features and equipment. I also love the sleek, sporty design. The Insight is the first hybrid car I've purchased, and I love it!

It's a great car. The ride is smooth and it's technology is state of the art. Being that it's a Hybrid, it's also great on gas and so much fun when riding in the HOV lane during rush hour on my way to work!!

I love this car. It provides all the security and reliance expected from Honda. The fact that is a hybrid is an extra perk. I fill up once a month, easily getting over 50 mpg.
