The suspension is a little stiff but I got used to it. Haven't enjoyed driving a vehicle this much since my VW van in the early 70's.

Justifying my Elemental addiction!

*Yes. This is my 3rd Element so if you're looking for an unbiased review, you'll probably need to skip on past this one.* I'm not really a car person but when Honda introduced the Element, I knew I had to have one. The shape and size were appealing to my interests and the layout inside was considerate of my lifestyle. I loved the color choices and the unique body features. The Element has a very recognizable, iconic design and that's appealing to me! If you're into music - My latest Element has a 7 speaker system which utilizes the space very well. With a bit of tuning you can achieve excellent audio inside. I like the vinyl flooring for it's easy cleaning and I like the unique seating combinations. I can keep the back seats up, down or flipped to the side and clipped to the roof in order to maximize my room. Or I can remove them entirely to add more space! It's all very functional. So are the doors, which open outward with no support bars to hinder your movements in or out. It's incredibly easy to pack! I love the wide window views and the headroom. No claustrophobic trips in this car... It's a very roomy ride and comfortable for 4 people. As an SUV class vehicle, the Element sits higher than a regular car so your view of the roadway will be just a bit better than the cars around you. It has a very decent acceleration, excellent braking and it corners well, with a weight shift into the curve so you always feel like it's in your control. I can attest to it being a very safe car in a rear-end accident. It's why I now own a 2007 Element instead of my 2004. I walked away from an interstate crash with just a few bruises and some minor aches. I'd trust it with my life! DOWNSIDES, you ask? Sure. It's a noisy ride. Occasionally very noisy depending on the asphalt your driving on. There are ways to lessen road noise but I've never found it a quiet ride. It's also cumbersome for passengers when you're parked side-by-side in tight spaces. It's relatively poor on gas mileage (due to it's boxy shape and heavy carriage!) and it can be a total gas pig if you're used to aggressive driving. Nothing sits for long on the floor without shifting so you'll need to keep bungee cords to tie things in place and there never seems to be enough room up front to store common items. The glove compartment fills quickly and the upper storage (above mirror) and side door pockets are limited. The back seats are comfortable but take much more of the road abuse than the front seats... often bouncing passengers as they sit slightly higher in the car. Finally, there is a vicious blind spot just over the driver shoulder where you'll have to consider your mirror placement to safely view other cars on the road. Frankly, none of these negatives have stopped me from loving the car... It feels like a solid beast, wears well in high mileage and makes my 70 mile daily work commute a pleasure. My suggestion is to try one out and see if it's a good fit. You might just fall in love with this unique, unusual car!

The only thing I'd change is the drink holders. They are hard to get to with the arm down. I love the cargo room with the seats folded up to the sides. I have brought a 50 gallon water heater home with my car and a new dishwasher. I wish they hadn't discontinued the Element I would buy a new one. My husband simply doesn't fit in other cars and I got this to ease his getting in and out. It provides him with the necessary head room. Hey Honda bring it back just like it is. SINCE I DID THE FIRST REVIEW I HAD TO GET RID OF IT. THE TRANS AXELS AND OTHER MAJOR EXPENSES HIT THIS CAR. I'D LOVE TO HAVE ANOTHER BUT I'M BURIED IN A CHEVROLET SILVERADO NOW.

I bought this vehicle new in 2007. got 97K miles now. It has served us reliably well as you hope from a honda with 2 exceptions. right after the warranty expired we had to shell out 500 bucks to replace a rear strut that was gone. and the original battery left us stranded multiple times when it was only 3y old. . i read on blogs that many people had that problem. since it got replaced, out of my pocket, that issue is gone. the door design is weird if you have people actually using the rear seats. especially in tight parking spots. you get trapped in the space between 2 doors. it gets worse if you have to get little children out of their child seats in the rear.

I love my new Element. It drives and handles so much better than the 2004 Element I traded in. I love the new black utility floor and it is so much easier to get people in the back seats with the seat belts intergrated into the front seats. I'm glad Honda gave the Element VSA and side curtain air bags for safety reasons. I can haul my two Saint Bernards with little problems now. The 166-hp is a nice improvement along with the 5-speed auto. I get about 28 on the highway on average and about 25 in the city. Can't wait to see if it handles even better in the snow than my last Element.

The SUV for Any Lifestyle

Initially, I wasn't too sure that the Honda Element was for me, but then I drove it and I became totally impressed. This SUV by Honda is one of the finest vehicles I have ever owned. It is economical and can accomodate any lifestyle with ease. The active adult will definitely appreciate the features of this vehicle. The interior room rivals any limo and the rear seat legroom is phenominal. The ride of the vehicle is very smooth and, yet, is surprisingly agile through the curves. The power of the engine will not throw you back in your seat at take-off, but is more than adequate whether in the city or on the highway. This is one vehicle that is worth the test-drive...you will love it.

What a great little car! I can fit my mountain bikes, snowboards, backpacking equipment and the kitchen sink if I needed to in this awesome car. If you are a person who loves the outdoors, this car will DEFINITELY love you too. If you are a little bit messy - muddy or spill- prone like I am, just hose out the inside and get on with your life. No tent? That's fine. Just recline all the seats and sleep under the moon roof with the doors wide open. I love how the doors swing wide open so that you can put whatever you need to in the back seat without shutting your front door and opening your back door. Oh - and it makes a great changing room on cold snowboarding days, too!

I was shocked when i drove my element. It drives exceedingly well, it's fun to drive, and it does have a quiet ride. I was used to range rovers, (the high end ones), and this is so much fun. You have developed a great car.

I wanted an auto that my husband would hate! When we went in to pick up My new Element. He fell in love with it. I selected the Metallic Root Beer SC. What is so great, it accommodates tall people really well. He's 6' and my son is 6'4" and there is head room to spare. Now this is what is really awesome, the base part of the Honda Element is about the same size as an compact car but the box design allows for more interior room and it fits in my garage easily. It maneuvers very well.

Best Vehicle I have ever owned

I have put 55,000 miles on this car and it has been a pleasure. The Element handles extremely well in snow and out-performed 4wd vehicles on a recent ski trip in the West Virginia mountains. I drove the ELement to Miami and back and found the seats to be very comfortable and the open cabin a definite plus. My only complaint is that I had to replace the tires at 30,000 miles. I put Michelin tires on and they have 25,000 miles on them with very little wear. The Element makes corrections in snow and ice that make driving in extreme conditions safe. On the beach the Element handled well, although I didn't push it and enter the soft sand. Overall, an outstanding utility vehicle!!!
