Nice car ...

...plagued with a high-speed front end shimmy. Our 2012 SE automatic runs and drives great at any speed except between 60-70mph (and above) ...the interstate cruising range. At 3500 miles our car went to the dealer to remedy a healthy 65mph shimmy but to no avail; it's going back again. Before you buy this car, check out the large number of '11 and '12 model year owners who are battling with Honda trying to get their cars to quit shimmying at freeway speeds. Check here on Edmunds ...there's a bunch ...and do an online search. I am hoping our car can be fixed. With the shimmy, the "fun to drive" quotient takes a big hit.

the honda accord is one of the best cars I have ever owned. I have the 2012 EX-L V6 with NAVI. the V6 is a very snappy engine! I definitely recommend this engine!!!!!!! it gets you on the highway fast!. I know people make you think the seats are absolutely horrible, but they aren't. I could drive 12 hours without any problems. this car is awesome and so reliable!!!!!!! you definitely get what you pay for!!!!!!! We havent had any problems with it besides a check engine light and faulty sensor. (only a 100 dollar fix) the handleing is awesome! it is so responsive, it practically drives itself! a very sporty car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hope you find this helpful!

Excellent car!

Honda has become what Volvo used to be. A solid dependable, long lasting car. The Edmunds review is totally off base when it says that the Altima is more fun to drive. I had a 2008 prior to this and it handled awefully. The dash board looked like a used tire, and it felt like you were sitting in the bottom of an aluminum boat. There was nothing sporty about the way the car performed other than acceleration (just don't try to drive it in the rain, no traction due to the CVT transaxle) This car might not be stocked with options like the Hyundai's and Kia's, but what it lacks in options, it makes up in a ride and driving experience that the knock-off Kia and Hyundai cars will never know.

Great Car but not Perfect

Antonio M., 02/06/2019

Car has great gas mileage and power. However, on the freeway it may not respond quick enough when trying to pass another car. Slight throttle response delay. Typical for cable less throttle bodies. Sometimes at highway speed you may not get lower gear to kick in for a strong punch in acceleration. Mind you the car is an automatic five speed v6. I do love it when the car is in the right gear and accelerates powerfully. Car has VCM (cylinder deactivation) which causes it to hesitate/slight buckle when on and off VCM. I did however buy a VCM disabler (muzzler as it is called) for about $80 and VCM is practically eliminated. This also drastically reduces the so called "burning" oil that some people talk about. Also allows the car to run on 6 cylinders full time. Much more fun to drive around town and freeway. Feels torquey. Minor things you'll notice as problematic are some of the lights on the radio console have stopped working (youtube for fix), outside passenger and driver weather strips have cracked and broken off ($70 ebay fix) and replaced spark plug coils (Autozone $200 plus new iridium plugs and car runs much better now). Other than these things the car has been a pleasure to drive. Had decided to trade it in but realized it wasn't worth it. Will keep as long as I can. Car has 91,000 miles. Overall love the car.

172,000 carefree miles, then protected my daughter

I bought my Honda brand new, and proceeded to drive 100 miles each day for the next five years. It was a comfortable and reliable ride, but the road noise was a little noticeable. At 169,000 miles, I gave the car to my 17-year old daughter. It performed well for her, and we intended to keep the car until she finished college. But, someone turned left in front of her and totaled the car. But, my daughter was unhurt. You can't say much better about a car.

After careful consideration, I ended up with an 2012 Accord SE. I had a 2006 SE which I hand it to my teenager. The new SE is even better and with more standard options, like heated leather seats and power seat. I compared this car to 2012 Camry, and Acura TL., okay TL is not in the same class, but there is nothing less that SE offers for substantially less price, and you don't have to worry about a timing belt that the TL (and all 6 cyl. Hondas have). The new SE has plenty of power, nice tight ride, beautiful and logically layout dash, and controls. I just finished the first tank of gas, and got about 30 MPG, in combined driving, same as my 2006. So, the SE is the best choice I say.

I have the 2012 accord SE for 2 years . I lease it after my 2002 Mercedes c class took water in the engine in a rain storm and was total. the car is very good for me . it doesn't drive like Mercedes but I was not expecting that . so far zero problems . it is roomy and easy to drive . very good visibility from all sides . very good for driving in long trips . I have no problem with the drivers seat but my wife said that the passenger seat is not as comfortable so she use a special seat pillow. I do about 31 mpg in long trips but incite city driving mpg is not very good average about 15mpg

Horrible driver's seat

I love everything about this car...except the driver's seat. I have had this car for 6 months now and I am in terrible pain because of the seat. My job requires me to commute 1hr each day and I never look forward to this because I know how much pain I will be in when I get out of my car. I'm not sure if the problem is the seat itself or the headrest. Because the headrest is on an angle, I find myself hunched over when I put my head back. I really wish Honda could find a solution to this problem because that is the only bad thing about this car.

I love this car and have had it more than a year. I see other complaint like the seats but you can push the button for the lumbar to go all the way back so you dont feel and it is fine. I have driven for 5 hour trips and I am fine in this car and comfortable more than other cars I have driven and same with my wife. I also like the road feel of the car so it truly is a drivers car with great handling and responsiveness. The car is a sleeper and the vtech ready to unleash its inner beast anytime you have need for the extra punch and nice exhaust sounds. Honda's are just all around great cars and no issues and I drive rough and still cant break it.

This is my wife's car, and she would call it excellent in every way. I, however would have some very minor reservations. We have owned this car a year now and it has been nearly perfect with no problems in 14k miles. It runs great, drives great, and in my opinion, is one of the best looking cars around. If I were to change anything, it could do with a little less road noise. You can tell when the highway goes from asphalt to concrete by the sound and feel through the steering wheel. I understand road feel is a good thing, but I don't need to hear it as well. I wish it could attain the same mpg as our old 4 cylinder coupe, but you will have that trade off for the wonderful power of the V6!

I bought my 2012 Accord SE in May of 2019 with 69k miles on it and I've owned it for about a year and a half now. It now has 78k miles, and in the first 12 months, I spent $80 total on maintenance. As an ASE certified technician, I did all labor myself. But even so, that figure is nothing compared to my previous car, a 2005 Audi A4. When I switched from an Audi to a Honda, I wasn't sure I'd be satisfied with the features that were available. As it turns out, all I need for the everyday are leather and heated seats. The only features I really miss about the Audi are premium sound and sport mode. If you live in a snowy area and are skeptical about buying front wheel drive, don't be. I live in Wisconsin where we can count on 30+ inches of snow every year. As I said, my previous car was an Audi with Quattro AWD. Aside from Subaru, Audi has arguably the most sophisticated and legendary AWD system out there. I stuck with all seasons for the Audi and I fishtailed all the time, even at low speeds. I invested in a quality set of Blizzak snow tires when I bought the Accord and, I'm not kidding, it handles better than the Audi did. I can make a turn through four inches of un-plowed snow without sliding. My point being, what really matters most of the time is the quality of your tires more so than your drive train. I also should note that I purchased the 2.4L four-banger instead of the V6. It has plenty enough power to get you around town with 177 horses at your service. My four-cylinder is very easy to maintain and has a timing chain which means I won't have to worry about a flimsy belt snapping off and ruining my engine when I'm cruising down the interstate. It also doesn't burn a single drop of oil even after eight years. The bottom line is, the Accord sedan is a great family hauler or commuter car. It's cheap to own (not necessarily to buy!), it's extremely comfortable, and I highly recommend this car to anyone who likes to keep their vehicles for any extended length of time. If you take care of your Accord, it will certainly take care of you.

Tips For 2012 Honda Owners

Hello, while this might not be the right place to put this information I hope someone can find It useful. I am currently in college and drive 50 miles a day highway. I purchased this car used two months ago and so far its been great! It is a 2012 special edition with 55,000 mi. Being a 2012 it isn't to advanced, but it works very well for me I love the layout and the controls. I will say that it is quite uncomfortable for me I am 6'2 and after about an hour of driving I get extremely stiff but for short drives it works out just fine. My gas millage is great in my opinion for the size of the car but below I have created a chart in which I have gathered data on my driving and my MPG and how I drive. The Fuel tank is 18.5 gallons which is very nice but when driving aggressively and over 65+ I have found that my average MPG is close to 23 (this is all highway) and driving more sensibly at around 55-60 I can usually get 30MPG Therefore with 23 Mpg you can go 425 miles on one tank while 555 miles on the other, giving you a difference of 129.5 miles dividing that by thirty in which you could use those miles if you drive smarter @30MPG you save 4.316 GALLONS PER FILL UP!! And lets say right now im from Texas and gas here is about 2.00 A gallon so you can save 8.60 A Fill UP!! Lets say you fill up 4 times a month so 8.60 X 4= 34.36 that you can save a month so by driving smarter you can save an entire tank of gas a month! And 34.36 X12 That's 412.33 DOLLARS A YEAR! (or about 22 fill ups on an empty tank) I hope you all find this information useful and maybe even save some money!:D Overall I would highly recommend this car to anyone it is pretty basic but gets the job done and efficiently!

The most uncomfortable seats

This car has the most uncomfortable seats of anything that we ever tried. Our short test drive wasn't enough to set the alarm, but my wife commutes 140 miles a day and after the first day complained about very uncomfortable seats. After two weeks of driving my wife couldn’t take it any more with severe back pain, so I started suffering in this brand new Accord. I tried every combination of settings of this power seat, but no matter what I did there was annoying hump sticking out above the lumbar area. When driving for more than just a few miles you can't stop switching position in search for a more comfortable one. I’m 5’11” 170 lb, and my wife is 5’5” 130 lb so we don’t carry extra weight.

Bought new, my first non-GM car owned in 27 years. FANTASTIC engine, 5AT anticipates your needs, go-kart like steering, decent ride quality, solid, dependable, does what it's supposed to do. Zero squeaks/rattles/creaks. Interior storage is impressive. HOWEVER, seat comfort is a personal preference - spend a good hour sitting in one before you buy. Very poor blind-spot visibility. OE Michelins wear like iron, but handicap high-speed turns. Condition the leather seats early and often. Paint chips easily. HandsfreeLink voice recognition is abysmal. 270 Watt sound system is OK, but not what I expected for the power rating. Audio/Clock/DIC settings are cumbersome. That said, I love the looks, the performance, and the overall quality. If I hear a rattle, it is my stuff, not the interior. The seats are FIRM, but hug you and wear well (if maintained). Brakes don't pulsate, squeak, or wear out prematurely. People nicknamed this the "O.M.M." (Old Man's Mustang) and I wouldn't disagree. For those of us in the snow-belt (FWD) without little kids (2 door) and who want serious passing power (J35 V6), you could do a lot worse. Zeibart cut the road noise and WeatherTech saved the carpet. I would do it all over again given my needs and the choices available then. Keep in mind that Honda dealer support is below even GM standards - charged $106 checkout fee (while under warranty) for a slow coolant leak they couldn't find. What Honda? Do you think I purposely drained my own coolant? Or did it just "evaporate"? Honda, you should have just ate the 1 hour diagnosis. 2020 Update: regrettably, I had to sell it. Not it’s fault, but because the new driving dynamic is that everyone else drives an SUV/Pickup with blinding HID headlights, they’re totally distracted by their electronic toys so they don’t notice this little car, they don’t respect its size, and the crumbling roads are destroying its looks. I now peacefully drive a beat-up 19 YO pickup. THE END.

The Accord, in my opinion, has always been a nice looking (albeit, not all that flashy) auto with known reliability. All of my past automobiles have been American sports cars, luxury sedans, and trucks. While shopping for a new vehicle, I wanted something that was safe and reliable while providing a modest yet stylish middle-class appearance to my clients. I choose an Accord for practical reasons. I knew instantly that I wanted a V6, leather, and a coupe. I figured this would give me the creature comforts I desired in addition to enough horsepower to keep up with traffic. Boy, was I wrong! This car handles better and has more luxury appointments than many of the vehicles I've owned.

I drove a 2002 Bonneville SE for the longest time. Then I graduated college and decided to sell ole reliable and get something with updated safety and overall technology amenities. I had heard a great deal of great things about the reliability of Honda's and the safety of the Accord. So I decided to check it out and fell in love at first drive. I have the 2012 sedan V6 EX-L. I got it certified pre-owned through a Honda dealer in Michigan (who by the way has been fantastic from start to present -- they even held the car for me when I wasn't sure if I was going to get the job I have now). Gas mileage, size, and safety were the reasons I got this car but this thing has gone above and beyond. The attention to detail of button placement, quality of materials, and even the RIDE is incredible. I'm used to an air suspension from my boat of a Bonneville so it's not luxury standard, but I can definitely feel some Acura refinements in this suspension and ride quality. The steering and transmission are snappy when I need them to be and it has an overall solid, controlled feel when I drive it which makes me feel even better about being on the road in it. I do a LOT of city driving and my typical combined loop is the higher end of 26 mpg(eco is incredible). My highest recorded MPG is from a trip I made from Chicago to Lansing and that was about 42.7 MPG. This is the perfect blend of sporty, SAFE, comfortable, and reliable that a recent college grad (or anyone, really) can ask for and I highly recommend. Plus it's easy on the eyes. I've had it for about four months and I've only put 9K (bought it with 20K on odometer) on it but I plan on taking this to the 200K mark unless I'm convinced to trade in for a newer Accord! Hope this helps for those who are serious about their vehicle shopping, good luck out there!

I recently bought the 2012 SE model here in Toronto, Canada, we don't get the leather seats for the SE model here but we get bluetooth instead, no idea why tho, anyway, The car looks okay (better than Camry) has good leg room in the back (Unlike Camry) and despite everyone complaining about the seats has very comfortable seats if you ask me, the problem is road noise on the highway, it drives you crazy, you can barely hear other passengers talking to you when you are doing 100 KM/h (60 mph) on cement highway, the tire thrum, road noise and wind noise resonates inside the cabin like it's a tin can being rolled on the highway and you are inside it!

All around still one of the best! The 2012 is not full of tech, but it is comfortable, quiet, high performance, super safe, reliable, easy to use, retained value, and a great family car that does not make you feel like you have no style. This is my 8th Honda (9 if you include the lawn mower). None of them have been anything less than terrific. I tried a Kia, and the seat knob broke off during a test drive. None of my 8 Hondas have done that:) As always, I get much better than listed mileage. The Toyota's we have owned do worse. I am averaging about 4 mpg higher than the said it would get:) The 2013 has more Tech, but they took out the double wishbone suspension in the front, shrunk the passenger space, and replaced the steel hood and trunk lid with aluminum (not near as tuff). I would rather have the 2012 model. I added Bluetooth aftermarket for $30, and I can always put in a touch screen later. The double wishbone is a big plus! However, the USB port on this car is great. Since my last review, no changes:) Super reliable. Tinted the back 3 windows with a 35%, and the front sides with 50%. :)

After driving my 2005 Nissan Altima for 135K I decided it was time for a new car. I tested the new Altima, Camry, and fusion. All great cars but was able to save some $$$ buying a loaded left-over. The car drives great and I’m averaging about 30 miles a gallon on the highway. The leather seats are comfortable and the stereo is great with SAT.. For the record, I disagree with the review that the 'interior is of poor quality". Honda uses textured hard plastics for the dash but it looks nice and does not appear cheap. I find it easy to clean and maintain its highly scratch resistant. So unless you plan on resting on the dash I think it should be fine for most people...

Impression after 3 months with my used Accord coupe. Very comfortable seats. Quiet, smooth motor. Firm and stable suspension. Clutch is a bit stiff and gearing is low and close ratio. Stance is wide. Tight turning radius. The speedo and tach are hidden by the steering wheel. No oil pressure gauge or voltmeter. I have a coupe and I have no visibility out the right rear side. No back up camera on 2012s. A taller person may have better visibility. Not a car to zip in and out of traffic. The large 6 cyl will get up and go when merging. But it must be finnessed because of torque steer. You can not simply stomp on the accelerator from a dead stop. I have not driven in rain yet. The computer calculates mileage at 18. At 65,000, no major mechanical repair needed. I do have a non working mirror and I need clutch slave cylinder but these are minor. All in all, a well put together.and very capable car. If you test drive one, it will win you over. For the mechanically inclined reader, the 8th gen is the last one for port injected motors. 9th gens are direct injection. The 2012 3.5L has a timing belt. The 2.4L has a timing chain. These are not freewheeling motors. Valves must be adjusted on both motors. The Accord suspension also changed after 2012. The 3.5L with manual trans does not have the Eco mode. The 3.5L with auto trans does. Some say it is annoying. Mine is manual so I don't know. Hondas have integrated exhaust manifolds. No aftermarket headers will be available. The manuals have dual mass flywheels which tend to wear out before your clutch does. Aftermarket single mass flywheel and clutch combos are available. Changing a clutch on these is expensive. If you are undecided, spend some time hanging out on the owner forums. In short, I am happy with my purchase. With every choice you make, you give up other options. All in all, this car is a great choice for most anyone. UPDATE: This is a car for car people. It is a joy to drive and a beauty to look at. At 92,000 miles, it has needed only brakes, battery and an alternator. The M/T engine is slightly different and does not come equipped with cylinder deactivation. Mileage is about 19 around town. UPDATE 2: Good: Stunning looks, comfortable and fun to drive. Quiet, smooth and powerful engine. No VCM (variable cylinder management) on the manual trans version. Interior controls are easy to use and intuitive. Trouble free manual transmission. Fairly reliable with exception of the issues below. The paint has aged well. Bad: The J35Z3 engine paired with the manual trans is unique and not readily available if engine replacement is ever needed. The J35Z2 can be substituted with additional modifications. The catalytic converters are prone to fail due to being directly bolted to the exhaust ports leading to P0430 and P0420 codes. Frequent battery replacement. Perhaps due to the charging system design. Look up ELD (electronic load detection) for more info. Rear brakes drag. Keep an eye on them. If severe, you can smell burning pad material. Car makers are being forced to make changes that destroy reliability to meet emissions and fuel economy requirements. All the flaws mentioned above are directly related to these mandates. Otherwise, this car would have become very collectable.

Poor Decision

After being an avid Ford Car man for 24 years, I succumbed to the many suggestions from friends and family to try the Honda Accord Sedan. On 6/30/12 I test drove the 2012 LX-P Sedan for only the standard 10 to 15 minute interval. The roads surrounding the Dealership were considerably bumpy, pitted and consistently crowned. The car felt good and the price was excellent so I bought it. The final 17 miles of my 50 mile drive home, was newly paved expressway. Oh God, what did I buy? Significant pulling to the right and shimmy/vibrations began and never stopped. 26 days and 10 visits to Honda, the alignment is correct but I am told that have to live with shimmy/vibration. Worst Decision Ever.

I have owed Honda's since 1985 and the 2012 is the worse. My 1998 with 250,000 miles drove and rode better than the 2012. Hesitation is a common occurrence. I took it back to the dealership but they claim couldn't find anything wrong with the car. The seats are very uncomfortable. The road noise when driving on the highway is very distracting, you can't hear the radio unless you turn up loud this is not an option when others are in the car. The gas mileage is very good. I will not keep this Honda as long as I have kept the others I have owned.

I purchased a pre-owned 12 Accord EX-L coupe no Navi with about 32k miles. I've had the car for about 7 months now and love it. I do about 24k miles a year so I spend alot of time in my car. The seats are comfortable for me and the passengers. It's got plenty of room for a coupe. My mother whose a little older has a little trouble getting in/out but once shes in there shes very comfortable. I would recommend this car to anyone. Highly reliable, comfy, and most importantly affordable!

We leased this car and liked it so much that we bought it! It has been excellent to drive and has never given us any problems! It has been kept in a garage and is clean and smoke-free. Roomy in the front, great air conditioner, moon roof, fully adjustable heated front seats with lumbar support for the driver. Radio system is great! We bought a nee battery and have decided to keep it at least another year!

Great family car! It is full size and fits our family of four perfectly. We've logged 2500 miles so far. MPG mixed is 25 and highway trips have been 30. Haven't seen the rated 34 yet. Seats are firm and you have to find comfortable position for driving. The electric drivers seat in the EX model helps to locate the comfortable position. Lower back can hurt and butt goes numb sometimes. Plenty of room inside and a huge trunk. Pretty quiet on the road, although you can hear road noise. Bought it for Honda reliability.

My car is two month old, 5000 miles, so far I have water leak in the trunk during rain (brand new car) and some strange clinking noise when I drive on not so smooth road. I had some strange noises in my Toyota Camry 2006 too, but I was able to drive over 200k miles with that car without problem doing just regular service, may be my new Accord will last same number of miles also without problems… Who knows? I hope my dealer will figure out (eventualy) what is wrong with my car’s trunk and Honda warranty will pay for repairs.

Steering in 2012 makes of Accord is extremely hard and impossible to manauvre the vehicle with one hand. The previous versions including 2011 make had softer steerings and I dont know what made the company as good as Honda to come up with such poor steering. There is no comfort in driving this vehicle and the steering feels like that of a truck at slow speed

An Utterly Depressing Car

2012 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5M)
18 of 23 people found this review helpful

Powertrain: Slow slow slow acceleration. No torque, with flat spots and hesitation everywhere. 5-speed manual has had a crunchy 1-2 shift since new - I'm not a rookie driver. Geared for fuel economy with long jumps between 1-2 and 4-5. Falls on its face when you shift unless you're perfect. E-Throttle is absolutely atrocious and unpredictable. Once I turn the A/C on in the late spring, it stays on until October, because it takes two days to re-learn how to drive the terrible E-throttle and jumpy engine when you toggle between A/C on and off - the engine response is different to the point of multiple personalities. Engine is quiet at speed but thrashy if (when) you have to rev over 3500 RPM in search of some power for everyday acceleration needs. Be prepared for tailgaters unless you're comfortable shifting at Nascar RPM levels. Highway driving is better - 5th is just right for economy vs. not having to downshift much. Interior: Cheap materials. Ok layout and good space. I don't share the complaint about the seats, I can drive this car for 10 hours without back issues. I'm 240 lbs, maybe I have a different spine than most. Road noise is insane, louder than commercial trucks I've driven. I've never owned a louder vehicle in my life. Honda doesn't even pretend to make an effort to quiet these cars down. The stitching on the most frequently used seats hasn't separated yet, but it's looking pretty sorry. Economy: Until about 60k miles I averaged right around 30 MPG in highway-biased mixed driving with A/C on. Good real world mileage for a bigger car. 33-34 MPG fully loaded on family roadtrips with A/C on. MPG has dropped to about 26 in similar driving, but I'm on factory spark plugs at almost 90k so it's probably time for a tune-up. Reliability: No check engine light for 90k miles. 3rd set of rear brakes, but factory fronts - common complaint in these cars but abnormal for a passenger car. Weird popping sound when I first pull out of a parking spot after sitting - happened since day 1 and I don't hear it anymore. Uneven tire wear despite alignments and rotation. Terribly, horribly loud tires as a result of cupping and no sound insulation. Second set of tires, different brand, same result. Had to replace two lower motor mounts at 85k due to clunking, and the car still isn't right. I'm afraid it needs axles although I don't know why it would after 90k of mostly highway. The boots are fine. Overall Driving Experience: MISERABLE Slow, hesitate-y, boring, loud, depressing. What seems like a smart buying decision on paper leads to disappointment. Value: I got what I considered a screamin' deal on a no-option stick base model. The car feels every bit an economy car although it is economical.

The 4 cylinder engine in the is EX rated at 190hp instead of 177 in lower trims. The car has nice acceleration and a strong transmission. Bigger inside than Camry and Fusion, and it's great for tall drivers. I'm 6' 3" and I have plenty of headroom with the sunroof even when wearing a ball cap. You can have someone you don't know sitting in the passenger seat and you'll both be comfortable due to lots of hip and shoulder room. I was disappointed to find out the EX trim does not come with an outside temp display in the odometer. Only EX-L's come with that. No fuel computer either unless you have the EX-L with nav. It does have a USB and a 6-disc changer but the stereo is eh. My biggest complaint far and away is the A/C blower. It's very weak. The dealer and 2 other repair shops verified that's just how Honda's are. Bummer but I'm gonna keep the car anyway since I got it 2k below book value. Happy Shopping !!

I bought my 2012 Honda Accord LX with just under 36,000 miles in Oct. 2014. Now its December 2017 and my car has recently passed 85,000 miles. I got a great deal from Honda of New Rochelle. All I can say from my 3 years with my Accord is that this car is great!!! I can be picky about cars. The center stack has a lot of buttons but you get used to it really quickly. This car should have more tech being a 2012 car but it has everything you need. It is not fast but acceleration is good. The 5-speed transmission is well ratioed and doesn't make you wish for another gear. This car is smooth. It does everything well. If you value practicality this is the car for you. You get a good driving experience in this large comfortable car. I have been averaging just under 27.4 mpg in 66/34 highway, city. I got 35 mpg on a trip from CT to MA and back, so the mpg estimate is fairly accurate. I would like to get 2 mpg higher but I live in a condensed area. This is my first Honda and I am very pleased. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone looking for a quality, practical car with an excellent resale value that gives you a good driving experience on the used car market.

This car is great for the family. 5 star safety rating and very good reliability rating. I had this car for 6 years now and have not had 1 breakdown. Did have to replace front wheel bearings at 105,000 miles though. I Have changed rims and tires for lighter ones and now getting 28 mpg on average going to work and around town. All electronics still working fine and still no rattles. I chose this car because it does not have Direct Injection and therefore less problems to deal with later...AKA carbon builup and high pressure fuel pump going bad. My only complaints now is trim on outside windows are falling apart, roof liner glue has failed and the car seats are on the firm side. REPLACED STARTER AT112.00 MI(es NOW AT 160,000 MILES )

I have put 78k trouble free miles on this car since I bought it brand new. I do my own engine oil and transmission oil changes. I live in a hilly area so I put new rear brakes on at about 65k miles. One of the tires had sidewall damage so l replaced them at 75k miles. The tires still had tread left. The car handles well, but the suspension is firm so if you drive on bumpy roads it will give a rough ride. The four cylinder engine is smooth and quiet in every day driving, but will accelerate hard if you put your foot to the floor. This is the last year of the five speed automatic transmmission. I like the firm seat foam but the fabric could be better quality. I get 35 mpg going 70 mph on long trips, and I get 25-27 in town. I did make a 5 hour trip on state routes with a 55 mph speed limit and I got 42 mpg! This car looks good and is a great value. Comfortable for four adults. It has a huge trunk.

I will be short and sweet. I bought the car with 44,000 miles off a Honda Lease and by 50,000 miles I noticed a power steering leak. I found the power steering rack was leaking. I tried to get it covered by Honda of America but they would not pay for it. I just replaced it for $900 because I was sick of the oil spot in my garage. I also had the wire recoil break in the steering wheel and lost all controls on the steering wheel and I am assuming I lost my airbag as well until its fixed. Honda of America again denied my claim as I figured this is a defective part. So I will be without airbag until I cough up the $500 to repair it. This is all under 65,000 miles. At this rate, I will have to spend $1400 every 3-5 years to replace these items if Honda is saying they werent defective. I am switching to Toyota. My parents also had issue with their Honda Odyssey and Honda of America would not cover a defective transmission for them.

We bought this car in january 2012 and since then we are having severe back pain and the pain is gradually increasing. if we stop driving this car the pain goes away...and the minute we start...it reappears. we are feeling helpless as their bad designing of the seats are ruining our health. we spoke to our dealer and they said we should call the manufacturer directly. we want to know if there are others who had similar problem and what they did to resolve the problem. I think Honda should recall and replace the seats.

I just bought this car two weeks ago. The first time I noticed the issue was on a long drive, 5+/- hours with the car. At the end of the drive, my lower back was on fire and I had a hard time moving around for the rest of that weekend. Then the drive home was worse, because my back already was hurting. These seats are AWFUL! I took the car right back to the dealer and told them about the issue, I was told they really couldn't do anything about it and there is nothing wrong with the seat (it wasn't broken). I then call Honda USA, explained my issue and was given a case number. That case ending in Honda USA basically telling me to pound sand! I have said that I was not the only person with these issues, just go and Google it. The Honda rep to me they were un-aware of any issues like this and they don't pay attention to web postings. Now I have an issue, I have a brand new car that I HATE to drive. I ended up pulling my 10 year old Saab 140K mile (which the Accord was supposed to replace) back out of the garage and parked the Accord. Please Honda, get your stuff together and help myself and all other people get this resolved. These are BRAND NEW cars!

I bought a brand new Accord LX-S Coupe thinking I was getting a quality car as advertised. I previously owned a 2001 Accord Ex Coupe and loved it. It didn’t have any of these issues on the 2001, it came with a V6, sunroof leather seats and no sound issues at all for the same price. This car has SEVERE road noise over 45mph and cement roads are beyond belief. The dealer wants to sell me a more expensive model; Honda won't do anything and seems to state what I bought is a cheap car and i should expect the noise @ a $25k sticker price??? When you have the gas tank 3/4 full you can hear the gas splashing, the tire noise is so bad i have to blast the radio just to keep from going nuts.

I purchased a 2011 accord coupe (2.4 L, auto, EX model) last year and about a month ago I had a straight-on T-bone collision at 50mph with a guy who pulled out in front of me which totaled my car. The accord saved my life and from the pictures of the scene of the crash it was unbelievable that I walked away with just a bruise and small burn. I loved that car and every aspect of it so without hesitation I purchased the 2012 accord coupe to replace it, this time the EX-L model. Though there really wasn't any changes between model years, it is still just as spectacular as my previous one with a few bonuses in the EX to EX-L upgrade.

This is my 3rd Accord, and just leased it after putting 240,000 miles on my Civic. The Accords are just so solid feeling, feels a lot like my old BMW 5 series. The seats are really supportive and comfortable, so don't go by the few negative reviews, some people carry some extra weight, and no seat feels comfortable. Good power from the 190hp engine, yet gets really good gas mileage. Can't go wrong with Honda.

2012 Accord is a great car as far as the handling and quality of driving, roomy cabin and very comfortable yet one of the main components is complete trash!!! And that is transmissions. There is absolutely no use of comfort of the car when your trans is acting out at 40k miles and its questionable on weather honda factory waranty is going to own up to it. Thay are very reluctant to take care of their defects and they will most likely try to get out of paying for repairs.
